You know, with my brother basing his entire campaign on Drow of the Underdark and Fiendish Codex I (great work on that BTW guys), and his long-time obsession with drow, I was getting pretty sick of them until I subscribed at the beginning of Second Darkness. It's inspiring, and truly wonderful. I will actually enjoy DMing this AP. Thanks Paizo for being so awesome. I can't wait to see the bit about...
If I'm not mistaken, it's much deeper than a simple alignment change. Also, i believe it has something to do with an event that is explained in the Second Darkness AP. I'll have to re-read it when I get home.
You change your avatar for a few weeks but change it back because you just don't feel like yourself.
LMAO!
I have to say, i'm at work right now. When i read this i just about rolled over laughing.. good thing my co-workers already think im kinda strange.. lol
I agree Krome, I love the idea of Item/Feat/Spell/Condition cards, but hate actually printing it out on crappy index cards or 110lb paper (cardstock).. it just gets expensive and it doesn't look good.. I'd rather buy card packs from paizo, if they made such a thing..
Ok I thought I'd bring up this idea, Clerics tend to lack knowledges in certain areas that they should otherwise have e.g. The follower of a nature god doesn't get knowledge(Nature) and the skill points don't really allow for cross classing to get the skill.
Cross-class skills no longer cost 2 points for 1 rank, it's just 1 for 1 now. However, with only 2+Int skills per level, i can see the trouble. I personally say make it a class skill, and up the points for the cleric to 4+int.
This post is really just for testing, but... wasn't there supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom?

They had a leak in the cooling system. Revision will take a month or two. Then re-firing up the beam... The End of the world is postponed for 3 Months.
They forgot the Illudium Pu-36 Explosive Space Modulator.. that's the real reason for the so-called 'leak'. Don't fret Gary, you'll get your earth-shattering kaboom.. :)
I've only once had a character that didn't go epic. He died at level 15. Happens to be my all-time favorite character. Dwarf Cleric/Fighter
Best sort of dwarf there is! A dead one!
Aww, hey now!
Spoiler:
Whenever that particular DM runs, he always has this 'house rule' that when a magic item is destroyed, it explodes. Don't know why, that's just how it is. My dwarf character had magic fullplate, magic shield, and a minimum of 4 magic weapons, not including misc stuff like belt of str and the like. The party was being d*cked around with by a red dragon, in game we called her the 'red b*tch' or 'a**hole dragon'. When the fight actually broke out, the first couple rounds almost killed us due to a metabreathed cone of fire on the first round. My dwarf readied an action to leap into the dragons mouth, should she use her breath again. Well, she did, and i leaped, and i exploded, and so did the dragons head. End of dragon.
Or so i thought... about a week later in game (with a new character, btw) the dragon came back with a scar on her neck, and a template.. imagine how happy i was..
Yup. The only thing it affects is qualifying for epic levels in a particular class. Really, if giving a fighter the Exotic Weapon Master "kit" means they are better at epic levels than if it were a PrC, I am not bothered by it.
Hadn't even though of that -- of course, in ~30 years of playing, I've had a total of one (1) epic-level character.
you played one? i've never been over 18th!

The biggest problem with grappling is that it's a standard action to maintain. That means if a Kraken with a dozen tentacles grapples one guy thats it. No more attacks or grapples.
I want scenes like from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea where one creature can latch on two multiple opponents. Or the giant crab in RoTRL, as soon as it grapples it can't even attack with the other claw. There's not even the opportunity for the penalty like in 3.5.
Maybe a monster feat that makes maintaining a free action.
What I've been doing is having the creature attack, grapple, inflict their grapple special (crush, rend, tear, whatever) and then let go at the end of their action.
I agree. I would expect these kinds of critters to get a special ability that allows them to do more during a grapple. Sort of like Pounce lets you Charge and do a full attack.
See, I want a fight that can go along the lines of having the creature attack, grapple the fighter, inflict their grapple special (crush, rend, tear, whatever). Next round it maintains the grapple on the fighter, inflicts the grapple special, looks at the barbarian, laughs and says "You're next pretty boy." It then grapples the barbarian, inflicts grapple special, the looks down on the cleric and wizard and lunges forward to rip the throat out of the wizard. Round three it tosses the fighter and barbarian as ranged weapons at the cleric, lunges forward and eats the cleric. Then on round four it picks up the crunchy fighter and gooey barbarian to finish its dinner.
Now THAT is a fight. Bodies flying all over, tentacles waving about, beaky mouth snapping, blood flowing. Yeah warms the cold recesses of my heart. *sigh* Need to kill a few PCs now.
If your post is any indication of how you actually DM, i wish i was one of your PCs.. lol :)
I think you miss the point - it's not about pity or comfort. Folks that choose to play 4e simply want to talk about their game of choice without the antagonistic 3e fans throwing rocks and flames.
I think that should apply to anyone playing any rpg really. Sure, a Bella Sara rpg (or nWoD, GURPS, Sorcerer, etc.) might not be for me, but i'm sure there are people that would like to play without being condemned for playing it.
From what has been said only the Gods are closed....I do believe char gen and XP tables are gonna be open
I see no reason not to do this, but I am no lawyer.
I think the source of the confusion here is that Wizards' d20 license forbids "Describ[ing] a process for Creating a Character or Describ[ing] a process for Applying the Effects of Experience to a Character." Which is one reason why our character creation process and XP tables are different from the official D&D methods. However, ours are Open Game Content.
Now that's why I love Paizo.
On another note, thanks Vic for responding to my email
I think toyrobots pretty much hit it, and I don't know if anything beyond an editable/formula-driven PDF would really strike me, unless Paizo struck a deal with the creators of Hero Lab/RPG Xplorer to market a Pathfinder-specific character sheet plug-in or something of the like.
What would you want from such a product in order for it to be better then the free versions that are available out there?
The WotC 3.5 sheets were larger size paper folded over to make four pages each and every pack came with one for each class and a generic one. They were very useful and impossible to print at home. That's what a character sheet product should be.
11 x 17, printed on both sides, impossible? I've been doing it for a while now... hmm..
