The Missing

The search pattern takes about an hour and spreads nearly a quarter-mile out before Skygni finally catches a scent. Nestled into a culde sac on the leeward side of a small rise he finds a number of muddy footprints. They head in the general direction of a large copse of trees another quarter-mile away.

The wolf leads you across the field of mud and sodden grass to the edge of the small wood. The copse is a thick tangle of low shrubs, obscured by a thick vine canopy overhead. Most of the plants are still without leaves, but they remain congested enough to block vision beyond a few yards.

"The tracks lead within." Skygni sniffs the air a few times before exhaling forcefully. "There is something within. Natural, but like nothing I've ever scented before."

The Missing

"We should. I don't want something hunting us in the dark. Skygni, do you smell anything?"

"I will check," Skygni says, moving to join Shalelu.

Skygni takes a few deep snuffs at the door and then shakes his head, side to side. "No, their stench is nearly overpowering."

Skygni stands up after Harlan's quick healing removes nearly all trace of his wounds. He blinks at Harlan in thanks, and gives the surroundings a more wary eye.

The Dark Pavilion

Skygni sniffs, "Death."

How is DC 25 impossible for level 10 characters??!?

HoWB

Skygni sniffs deeply, then releases a disgusted snort. "The whole place stinks of decay and blight over a layer of something sweet... like rotten flowers."

The Wandering Song

Skygni blinks at Harlan, and gives Heng a sniff. "He smells the same."

"Of course," the wolf replies.

The halfling dismounts.

"Thank you Skygni."

The wolf blinks at Harlan. "It was the least I could do to help. You require mobility, and I could not fly to attack the ghostly fiend. You are small and light; it was no burden."

Skygni nudges Harlan in the shoulder. "Climb on my back if you wish for mobility."

Speed 50 ft...

Bormurg's Throne

"Beware," Skygni warns. "I smell many of the yeti nearby."

The wolf blinks at Maeve, "Perhaps, if they wait upwind. But there's no wind down here, and the entire place stinks of them."

Harlan Starshine wrote:
"That's probably what Skygni smells."

Skygni sniffs in that direction. "It was indeed. The reek is much stronger from that tunnel."

"A pack? Of what?" Parity responds to the wolf.

"I do not know... something musky. Their scent is strong in this place.

The Bridge of Souls

Skygni sniffs and emits a low growl, hackles raised. "There is a pack here," he warns.

Skygni emits a low growl. "Raw."

Skygni blinks again, "That would please me." He lies down by Harlan's feet.

He's the wolf you released/healed from the Ravenscraeg dungeons.

"Yes, I can speak. I am not an animal," the wolf sighs. "I have no pack. Kimandatsu killed my pack three years ago, when she abducted me. I was a pup, and now I've got the stink of humankind about me. None would take me in."

Harlan Starshine wrote:
Harlan bows to the wolf. "Skygni we owe you thanks. That's at least twice you've helped us now."

The wolf blinks thrice. "It is but a small part of what I owe you, actually."

White Harbinger

As you commit to the forced march, the wolf nods in acknowledgement. "I will speed ahead and scout the path." With that, it turns and sprints away, quickly disappearing into the snowy backdrop.

White Harbinger

He looks a lot like the wolf from Ravenscraeg...

The wolf blinks. "They come from all over the Crown, from the black spires and the oily lakes. I can smell the voice on the wind, calling them to you. It started after you killed the blue woman."

"I saw them gathering together, and ran to warn you. Their pack is still many miles away, but they are undead, and do not tire or rest. You will not outrun them."

White Harbinger

"I'm still here," the voice says, loud enough for everyone to hear. A white shadow separates from the snowy backdrop, revealing a white wolf with icy blue eyes. It stands taught, ready to flee. "The living dead, a hundred or more, drawn from across the Crown. They seek your caravan, and they are getting close."
