Well if all arcane spells are available and not just 4th level paladin spells, id say Planar Ally. May seem OP, but as far as flavor is concerned, Id like to think a level 20 paladin can call forth to the heavens to have a "little help with this bbeg boss here". Id also recommend True Seeing if you want to make it more anti Mage / anti rogue. Which may I say, A rogue with Improved Invisibility, TWF and a full round action, starting combat with every hit on your paladin being a sneak attack... well kills. It doesnt hurt. It devastates. So my vote is on either of those :)

As an experienced GM, im not going to tell you how to run your games, and i'm certain you already know all about calculating APL to create encounters of appropriate CR.

My advice? I'd say go with encounters you think the group should be able to handle easily. Take note as to whether or not they struggle, and throttle the rest of your encounters accordingly. Take note if Undead are especially difficult for them to deal with. How about against a regular front line fighter? Oh, and make sure they dont come across any opposing adventuring parties. Because you know its 2 rats and kobold according to the games ives GM'd that basis for murder and mass looting. God forbid anything those 3 wear shines. :)

Anyways im rambling,
TL;DR
Take it easy so you dont start with a TPK, and make it harder as you go.
P.S
Good photo choice. :)

Thanks guys. Just making sure it was legal. :)

To my knowledge, a potion, scroll or wand wouldnt work. Since they all emulate the functions of the spell, so its pretty clear that you cannot craft them without the spell, by increasing the DC as per RAW. Thanks for the input though. :)

Anyone know if this applies to wondrous items, and rods as well?

Example is Belt of strength +2,+4,+6. Requires the spell bulls strength to make.

To make an item do I need the spell available?
i.e. Can someone else cast the spell other than myself?

Or can I just increase the DC by 5 for crafting the item even if I do NOT have the spell available.

Also what if i have say a potion of bulls strength. Does the DC stay the same now?

Or does it still go up 5 because I didnt have the spell memorized to cast.
