make necromancer focused on Animate dead (fight fire with fire )

I've thought about that. I've also considered making a Shadow focused wizard to travel and be more comfortable in a foreign atmosphere. There would be plenty of opportunities to use the shadow magic. Maybe an Illusionist wizard?

The only issue with a necromancer is that I have a feeling that the undead will be highly resistant to any turning or controlling.

Sorry, forgot to mention that we are limited to the Players handbook for classes and races. And limited to the Players Handbook and Advanced Players Guide for feat and class options. (No new classes from the APG)

I will be playing in a one-shot where we are going up against a group that employs undead and shadow magic. I'm buidling a wizard for the party. The party includes a barbarian, ranged paladin, rogue, bard, and another undetermined. Clerics will have reduced spellcasting, so I was looking at a wizard. I'm in need of help in the build for countering undead and shadow magic, or creatures from the plane of shadow.

Thanks, ahead of time.

Looking to build a skill monkey healing/buffing cleric of Osiris for our upcoming Mummy's Mask campaign. Concept is a student of the old gods and history of Ancient Osirion. Converted cleric from Pharasma. I will be the healer/buffer and probably the face of the party.

Stats are currently (20 pt buy):
Str 8
Dex 12
Con 10
Int 16
Wis 16
Cha 14

I'm looking at Scroll Scholar and/or Ecclessitheurge as archetypes.
First level feats are Fast Learner and Improvisation.
Traits are Seeker and Devotee of the old gods.

I don't need to be a martial cleric as everyone else will have levels in a martial class.

Thoughts?
Thanks

The Exchange

Any possibility of getting just the gods article? I am playing this campaign, not running it and don't want to spoil it. I am playing a cleric of Osiris. I was hoping that there would be a way to just get the double-sized article on the gods. I can find out all the domains, subdomains, and favored weapons online, but I was hoping for descriptions and any flavor text that would be in the article. Don't really think it is worth $16 just for the one article.

Thanks

The conversions have the updated treasure already accounted for.

I'd purchase a couple!
If it means I can store the Flip-Mats on a shelf with the spine labelled, I'd certainly think about buying a full set. Storing them flat in an art carrier keeps them flat but its a real pain finding the one that you want.

This, definitely this! It is frustrating flipping through trying to find the right one, when a labeled spine would make life soooo much easier.

Just as a reminder...

Not every encounter has to be to the death. Sometimes its good to lull the players into thinking they will walk over everything and then smack them up the head with a big nasty encounter.

Sometimes the PCs need to feel like real heroes that can defeat "easy" monsters without expending to many resources. They need to be able to "show-off" once in a while.

The Exchange

I agree with the OPs thought. However I think it could be done with modules. Maybe do a few sets of Trilogy's? These would be perfect.

I'm currently running two Kingmaker campaign's and both are in their 2nd year and are only half way through (just started the 4th book). One campaign meets for a full weekend every other month, the other meets for 4-6 hours most Tuesdays.

Here they are again. Hopefully they work this time. Sorry I about the bad link. Not sure what I did wrong.

These work for me, but I created them. I'll check back every couple days, let me know if they work or not.

Thank you Shieldknight for all your work. I, for one, really appreciate the conversions!

I am having difficulty getting these new ones though. When I first tried it, Google said I didn't have permission to access the files and I had to request permission. I sent the email, but have not gotten a reply. Also, when I tried again, the links just take me to a Google home page. Please help!

Thanks,

My apologies, I thought I had set the settings to allow anyone with the link to view and download. I have updated the settings to public. Let me know if it doesn't work. I view these boards about once a week.

In continuing the pdf'ing (probably not a real verb) of the 6 player conversions and trying to make them look as beautiful as possible and easy to read, I have wrapped up Blood for Blood and have linked them below.

The first file is the rumors, random encounter table and updated quests. The second file is the 6 player conversion. And the third file is a zip file with all the monster upgrades, with each monster individually wrapped up into a 5x8 card size stat block.

Here are the files:

Basic4

Blood for Blood 6 player

Blood for Blood Monsters

Hope you like them. Let me know if you have any problems or if I missed something.

In no way am I intending to infringe on any copyrights. If I have done so, please let me know and I will remove the offending files.

Enjoy,
Shieldknight

Thanks for the heads up.

Hello there,

I am currently a subscriber to multiple lines and am loving most of them. I am not at all interested in the boxes coming down the main RPG line, but would still like to get the Ultimate Equipment. Is it possible to skip the Bestiary Box and get the Ultimate Equipment and then cancel my subscription until a later date when there is a line of items that I'm interested in getting?

I would like to keep my other subscriptions in tact. And am considering adding another line. But I am just not interested in what is coming up in the main line.

Thanks

The Exchange

I basically keep the NPCs at three levels below the PCs. This allows them to pick them up as a cohort if they wish without overpowering the kingdom.

Haven't had any issues yet.

The Exchange

I am just wrapping up Blood for Blood, reproducing it as a pdf similar to what Feagle and I have submitted previously, along with the monster cards.

I'll try to submit it this weekend.

I will start working on War of the River Kings right away. My group is desparately trying to raise an army, so I need to update my memory on the army rules and figure I may as well convert to the pdf as well.

Any requests or suggestions to better the final product are welcome.

Thanks,

Awesome work Alexander. This is fantastic work and greatly appreciated. My group is just about to finish up CoT and we are about to jump into Kingmaker. I really liked the format that Feegle put the first two adaptations into, as well as the the work that Shieldknight put into his collection of Monster Upgrades. Was there any plan on doing the other 4 books as I don't see them anywhere?

I am working on the other chapters for the monster upgrades, though they are just a copy out of what Alex did, just in a different format. If I learn anything about adobe at my new job, I may take up the other chapters and try to reformat them to look similar to the way Feegle did them, if he/she isn't available to do them. I really like the format and am working through VV right now.

I had been thinking about an additional building.

Windmill: (8BP; May only be built in grassland and hill hexes)
This structure can harness the power of the wind. Whether used for grinding grain, moving water, or cutting lumber, wherever the wind blows this structure has many uses. (May not be built in a city.) +1 Economy, +1 Stability, -1 Consumption when built in a farm or mine hex.

What do you think?

This is the very reason I have fallen in love with Pathfinder and its creator's. The communication, the development of game aids, and the friendliness and willingness of everyone to talk and discuss. I have been purchasing from Paizo for a few years now and honestly, this has never happened before. So I want to start off with a congratulations. You made it this long before I got a wrong order, and I figure that's pretty good. However, I do need to let you know what happened and find out how we can best remedy the mistake.

I had ordered three items that were to be shipped immediately:
GameMastery Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Condition Tokens
GameMastery Invisible Character Pack
GameMastery Invisible Monster Pack

I received the Game Condition Tokens and the Invisible Monster Pack, but instead of the Invisible Character Pack I received a set of GameMastery Figure Flight Stands.

Where do we go from here?

Thanks for all the great products, and keep up the good work. I'm sure things like this are gonna happen once in a while. As I said before, I'm actually surprised it hasn't before now. And I can see how mixing these two items up would be pretty easy, they look very similar.

Thanks.

First I wanted to say thanks to everybody for all their hard work on these conversions and the PDF formatting... excellent work!

Quick question... are the other chapters being worked on as far as formatting goes?

For the complete PDFs, yes. I am very close to finishing Varnhold Vanishing, but it's been put on hold by my job teaching summer school. I should have it done by the end of the month at the latest, but if I manage to pry an hour or two of free time out of the clutches of breakneck-pace grading and teaching, I may finish it sooner.

I am personally in no hurry to do chapters 4 through 6 - my players haven't even killed the Stag Lord yet, so they're several months off of the later modules. However, I'll have to do it eventually, and so if anyone here REALLY wants it done sooner, I could be convinced. It wouldn't even take any cookies.

I'll put in my vote for VV. I am running two groups through Kingmaker, one just finished Stolen Lands and the other just started Varnhold Vanishing.

Great work btw!

Alright, sorry its taken so long. Life gets in the way sometimes. I got it done and will post it at lunch.

I use a round wooden candle holder I found at Wal-mart. Gives the dice a good sound when they hit.

The Exchange

I've become pretty familiar with the Witch class. I have one player who's PC is a witch and I have converted the Old Beldame to witch as well. I can take a look at this later this week. I'll give it a shot and post a conversion as soon as I get it done.

The Exchange 2/5

We've done this!

For combat we used small 1/2" diameter (Medium/Small) and 1" diameter (Large) colored magnets with a clipboard that we had glued a piece of tin to and covered with a 1/2" gridded laminated sheet. Works well, and the driver can participate if he/she is willing to glance at the board once in a while and has a good memory for "seeing" the pieces. (You could just use a metal clipboard instead.)

Outside of combat, the roleplaying was great. Confined space with little noise. We had a lot of fun and managed to get a couple of scenarios in before we even reached the con.

The Exchange

This stuff just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the time and effort you have put into this. Also thanks to Vic and Dale for adding their info. Much appreciated.

ALLARD:
Spy Network:
I would allow a spy network at minimal cost, but either you would have to take Leadership and use your cohort as the ring leader, or you need to convince Theod to use his cohort as the ring leader. And then all the followers would be various spies in the kingdom and outside the kingdom.
Using a cohort in this way would take them out of any adventuring the party might do.
As for the cost, I'm working on what it may cost as a consumption to the kingdom. Kinda like an army.

The Exchange

Love this! Very cool!

If you are taking suggestions...

Would it be possible for you to add buildings? Or is it easy enough a non-coder could do it? I'm using the additional rules from Jon Brazer's Book of the River Kingdoms. Any possibility of adding the additional buildings from there?

Thanks

The Exchange

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. A topic that may need a little more mechanics probably.

But as I stated earlier, this is for my Kingmaker campaign. The player that wants to do this is the Spymaster. However, he didn't want to have to take the feat. The Kingdom's Assassin did take the leadership feat and hired on a Bard as a cohort. Since I already have a party of 6 PC's, I'm thinking I'll have the Assassin's cohort stay behind and run the spy network. That would take him out of the fighting and take care of the spy network.

Thanks again.

Feel free to continue discussing if you have any additional thoughts or ideas. I'm always open to more.

I'm running a Kingmaker campaign and have been asked a question I'm uncertain of how to answer.

How would one institute a spy network? What would it cost? Would there be different costs depending on how good it is and how secret it is? I'm sure there is more, but I'm tired and its late.

Thanks,

General Akiros informs the council that he fears that the kingdom is open to attack and that some of the bandit lords from the River Kingdoms may begin feeling brave enough to infiltrate and take over. "Defenses must be built. We need a standing army. Even if it is only a couple hundred soldiers. We need something to say we can defend ourselves!"

Marshall Kesten agrees with Akiros. "We should station a small contingent on the border to the River Kingdoms. We should claim land and send a small contingent so that we can man the dwarven outpost you found."

Magister Beldame asks, "Why haven't we begun educating the commoners? If we are to grow and prosper, we need our people to be able to think for themselves and create new and exciting things."

High Priest Jhod simply states, "People need to better populate the kingdom. And grow together as a community. We should add festivals to bring the population together. Give them a commonality, a national identity."

Treasurer Oleg gruffly speaks, "Our economy still struggles to keep up with our neighbors. We barely get by and we struggle to grow. We must construct more buildings that increase our production."

Lily is just happy to have Esmond home for more than a week.

Selena:

Gifts given to you by Prince Ivoretti:
Silver necklace with a finely crafted bow and arrow made of gold hanging from it. You recognize it as a symbol of Erastil.
An gem encrusted gold armband.
A beautiful ring with an emerald setting.
Pictures of these gifts are on your character page.

Prince Ivoretti still hasn't given up on you. He still visits, though not as often. He is always courteous, and flattering.

Mal Varn will not sleep with you. He is too honorable for that. So whatever you thought you were doing the last time we played. It didn't happen. He takes you on long walks through the woods, and enjoys time spent with you, even if you don't do anything. His latest gift includes an assortment of rare blooms from Cheliax and Anafa, Lissa, and Marra from Restov.

Allard:

Late one night, after most had gone to bed, there is a knocking on your door. As you open the door, a familiar face stands before you. He is the man that you had been tailing a while back. The one from Pitax that you believe is spying on your kingdom. He appears to be unarmed and alone. He holds his hands palms up in front of him and asks, "May we talk?"

Esmound:

After a few months enjoying the newlywed life, Lily comes to you mid-morning after running errands. "Esmond, I have something to tell you." She sits you down in a chair and pulls another around the table so that she may sit across from you. She takes your hands into hers and looks into your eyes. Tears begin to stream down her face. She stammers for a moment, "I...I am with child."

Ghuar:

In your wanderings through your kingdom, you notice that the fey you call friends, seem to avoid you while you are traveling.

Is there anything/anyone you wish to visit while completing your duties as Warden?

Theod:

I need a Perception check.

Brianna:

Your efforts to scry on Prince Ivoretti stop working. You haven't been able to scry on him for a couple of months now.
The Old Beldame thanks you for building the Witch's hut. She feels more at home and appreciates the addition of another witch that she can confide in when you are not around.

I'm still thinking about the Windmills. But I'm thinking they can only be built in a farmed hex with no other improvements. Give a +1 Economy, +1 Stability, -1 BP Consumption. Cost 8 BP. Just what I'm thinking at the moment.

My players definitely stay out!!! You know who you are.

Need Help!:

Okay, so recently my group had a session. This doesn't happen too often, we only get to play about once every other month. Mainly because my players come from over a 200 mile radius.

Anyway...
During our last session, we had two things happen. Both of which I had created to add a little intrigue and get the players more involved in their characters.
A short background, you can see my group at this link.
Here is what happened/what I added...
I created two NPC's, a son of King Ivoretti and a nephew to Varn. I had both men court Selena (the sorceress). Unbeknown to the players, Prince Ivoretti is courting Selena in order to gain the help of the players nation, which he would then later use to usurp King Ivoretti. But he needs a noble, and the only noble in my group is an Urban Ranger, who is a Bastard and can't prove his nobility. In order to prove his nobility, Prince Ivoretti sent an Apple of Eternal Slumber to Brianna, since Brianna and Allard are courting. In the hopes of getting Allard to kiss Brianna in her slumber, thus proving that he is a noble. However, Brianna was extremely cautious, and didn't trust a basket full of apples, and eventually figured out that one of them was a special apple. They then proceeded to scry on the owner of the apple. From there things kinda took a life of their own. Longer story shorter. One of the townsfolk is a transplant from Pitax, who is supplying Prince Ivoretti with information about the players kingdom. During the scrying, Brianna saw Prince Ivoretti talking to a cloaked figure, he said something about an assassination and a noble. The players assumed he was talking about the upcoming wedding between Esmound (the Paladin) and Lily. However he was talking about his father. Where I need help here, is that while I plan on having Prince Ivoretti killed before War of the River Kings, I'm not sure how to continue involving him with the players. Snaring them deeper into a subplot to kill King Ivoretti and then springing WotRK on them right after a failed coup.
Ideas for proving Allard is a noble? What else can Prince Ivoretti do to try to get the players to help him? Especially if he isn't the one courting Selena.
The second thing I'm having difficulty with is the courting of Young Varn with Selena. Right now, he is the one she has picked. Do I have Varn disappear with the rest at the beginning of VV right before a wedding? Or do I have him be the only survivor because he was visiting Selena during the raid?

Maybe I just needed to write this out so I could think more clearly on the subject. Anyway, thanks for reading.

I really don't want to see this turn into an arms race like Living Greyhawk did in the Shield Lands. Seriously folks, pretty please with sugar on top.

Seriously? I don't know who you played with in the Shield Lands, but the people I played with were heavy on the role-playing and light on the roll-playing. There was many a battle that we barely made it through by the skin of our teeth, just because somebody wouldn't do something because it wasn't in character. I also lost a lot of treasure and experience because we were playing in character instead of battle mode.

BtT, Some groups just don't want to role-play. You can't stop them from playing the game. Asking people now days to know their faction leader, his/her favorite food and tactics, and what are the general goals, is like asking an average American if they know who is the current President and Vice President and where they stand on the issues. Quite a few don't know and don't care.

Spoiler:

Just to show I know.
President: Barrack Hussein Obama
Vice President: Joe Biden
Goals: Progressive Liberal Democrat (enough said)

Can we setup a tithe and also buy our own home near the capitol in our country?

Sure

I am also adding a windmill to the buildings you can construct in an open hex.

Windmill Windmills are used for grinding grain and moving water. Must be constructed in a hex already farmed. +1 Economy, -1BP consumption
This is an early draft, I will be making changes to it. I haven't decided on a cost yet.

I've heard cookies can go a long way in getting Paizo staff to do things for you.

@Shieldknight You're welcome to it if you like, though I can tell you that I'm about halfway through RRR as it is. Gimme a week or so of procrastinating my end-of-year grading, and I should be finished both RRR and VV. At this point, now that I have my templates set up in Word, it's really fast for me to zip through them. (I got halfway through RRR in about forty minutes this afternoon.)

Beautiful! Good news for all! Don't suppose you'd be willing to share your template? I plan on running other AP's after I'm done with Kingmaker and the look of your template is easy on the eyes and would be really nice to have for the other AP's when I convert them to 6 players. Even if I'm using a public conversion, I could transfer everything to your template. Great job BTW!
