Hmmm....this thread is still hanging around in the old Previous Campaign section, but was never marked as inactive. Heh...oh well, it does give me a chance to post again with 'Shari's shiny new avatar! It does look like DW is doing OK in RL, which is good to hear!
Well DW has dropped off without notice before IIRC, so I won't say definitely this game is dead. That being said, I have forgotten the details of this game what with my other PbP games, not to mention RL as well. If DW should return, I would make every effort to get back into this game but until then this game is pretty much dead to me.
'Shari glances at Edan for a moment, wondering silently what had him so unnerved. She started to say something to him, then caught her tongue, not wanting to irritate the druid any further.
'Shari represses a shiver of fear as she sees the Druid's mood swing. I wonder if he is affiliated with that cult family we ran into earlier? Deciding to back up Lanten here, she adds "Yes, my good friend here did not mean any offense. You can trust us, we only want to help you. Could you tell us what is wrong?" She smiled prettily at him, although it seemed to Lanten a bit forced.
'Shari lays a hand on Lanten's arm and whispers softly to him, "Do you see the dust on his robes? How did that get on his clothing?" She stares at the druid while trying to recall where there was a place such dust was located.
I am still here, so just post when you can Narrator.
*taps mic* "Hello, is this thing on?" "Hi Lanten!"
As am I.
'Shari watches the strange druid closely and wonders what he is so worried about. "Is there something bothering you, good sir? We don't wish to bother you, we just had some questions that's all." She cannot help but glance about her wondering who else was nearby.
Wow...are all druids this hostile to visitors? 'Shari's voice chimes in, "Excuse me Master Druid, we do not want to take up a lot of your time here. We just want to ask you a couple of questions and then we will be on our way."
'Sahri walks along next to Lanten, part of her attention focused on the surroundings and the rest on the way his body moves. As they enter the marsh, she grimaces at the mud and dirt which caked her pants and boots. Lovely area to live in... As Edan's voice rings out, a sense of nervousness overtakes her and her hand roams to the hilt of her dagger. She jumps slightly as the sounds of some unknown animal echo off behind her somewhere. She unconsciously slides closer to Lanten a look of nervousness in her blue eyes.
'Shari's face turns a delicate shade of red as Lanten's words play in her mind. She takes a drink of tea to help calm herself and replies (avoiding meeting Lanten's eyes). "As I recall, Ramar and I did try to gain entrance to the orphanage but the proprieter there denied us access." She glances upwards for a moment. "I suggest we all should head to the orphanage together. It might give us more leverage."
'Shari tears herself away from gazing into Lanten's eyes as 'Lina's words bring her out of her reverie. Wow...he is SOOO handsome...I know he LIKES me too...What could possibly go wrong? "Uhhh...I suppose we should talk to that druid first. What say you, Lanten?
The smile she returns to him is a bigger one, and he can see the faint outlines of a blush beginning to form on her cheeks. "Good morning Lanten! I think some hot black tea is a wonderful idea!" She waves the waitress over to bring the group a pot of tea (with cinnamon). Once she has returned with the tea and four teacups for them, 'Shari sips the tea and looks into Lanten's sky blue eyes adding, "I hope you slept well last night. I wish..." She turns away and coughs softly. "Well anyway I think Edan wanted to see someone in town, what was his name again?"
'Shari wakes up to the sight of sunlight streaming into her room from the window. Blinking her eyes, she groggily shakes the cobwebs out of her mind. She glanced at her bed sheets which were all twisted and covered with sweat. Apparently her sleep had not been all that restful, and the more she thought on it she knew the reason why. She sat up abruptly realizing she had not only missed breakfast, but was running late to meet up with her friends. Hurriedly splashing cold water on her face to help wake up, she pulls on some nice leather pants and a light blue cotton blouse. Tasteful and cute, she thought. She regretted not having enough time to braid her hair but time was wasting. She pulls on her leather boots and decides to arm herself discreetly as before. Hurrying to the dining area, she waves to 'Lina and Edan while hiding a pang of disappointment at not seeing Lanten. I hope he is OK....and he still wants to see me again. Good morning, Edan, 'Lina! I hope you have both recovered from last night!"
'Shari laughs in reply to Lanten's joke. "Yes, he certainly gathered many...ahhh favors with his gallantry! She gives Edan a playful wink as she finishes her drink, ready to depart. The walk back with her friends is pleasant and when they arrive back at the Temple, 'Shari gives Edan and 'Lina a goodbye hug. "I will see you both tomorrow." She then continues on with Lanten in her arms. Lanten:
'Shari spends the rest of the night walking on a cloud as Lanten holds her hand. She walks close to him enjoying the feel and smell of his body close to her. She wishes the walk would never end. As he stutters his farewell to her, she gazes at him her eyes sparling in the moonlight. "Thank you, my PRINCE! I had a WONDERFUL time!" As he kisses her, she wraps her arms around his neck and returns the kiss enthusiastically. While she would not have minded sharing her bed with him now, she sensed he was not ready for that...and on reflection neither was she.
I don't want to ruin what may be something special here... As the kiss ends, she replies to him huskily "Good night, Lanten...my Prince!" As he watches her go, he sees a spring in her step one which leaves a pleasant memory in his mind.
As she slips out of her dress and shoes and climbs into her bed trying to let slumber carry her away, one image filled her mind: Those beautiful eyes of his...
'Shari's eyes widen on hearing 'Lina's question to Edan. She glanced at Lanten and quickly covered her face to hide the growing smile on her face.
'Shari sighs in relief as 'Lina rejoins the group. "Well, 'Lina I think you did just fine there. Are you sure he knows more of what is going on in Saltmarsh than he is letting on?" Her eyes twinkle in mischief. "All I saw was a handsome man dancing with a beautiful lady!" She again yawns and turns to the gentlemen who served as their dates for this evening. "I suggest we all go get some rest and meet again for breakfast. Maybe we can track down some info on this 'Misterique' fellow." She gives 'Lina a wink. "Although it would not surprise me if he found you FIRST!"
With a slight grin, Lanten answers: "Nothing, Mi'lady - your look was simply precious." He takes another drink and his ears prick up at the envious tone in 'Shari's voice. Although he doesn't get the reasons, he wants to reassure her. Speaking absently, he states in a neutral tone: "I suspect she had some help learning how to manage today, hmmm?" His statement is followed with a direct look into 'Shari's eyes to imply he thinks she's the one responsible for 'Lina's success. 'Shari laughs, a touch wistfully. "Yes, Lanten, I suppose you could say that. I did offer her some pointers...but I just never thought she would be sooo...GOOD at it!" She returns his gaze feeling comforted by his own look. "'Lina is such a pretty woman, and a natural at this too. I just don't want her getting hurt here." She yawns as the days events, not to mention the drink start to catch up to her.
'Shari looks at him with a look of mock outrage. "AND just WHAT is soooo funny, my Prince?" She glances back towards the dancing couple before turning back to look at Lanten's face, and those arresting eyes of his. "You know, I always thought 'Lina was...good at dancing.." There is a slight note of envy in her voice which her close friends are able to pick up on. After the dance has concluded, she takes another drink of wine while taking Lanten's hand in her own, reassured by his touch. She turns to look at Edan with an impish grin on her face. "I think you may have some competition there Edan. Just let me know if you need any...help winning her back!" The giggle in her voice and the slight slurring of her speech clearly indicated she has partook of more wine than is good for her.
'Shari is careful to make sure the other woman sees Edan is firmly in her grasp, so to speak, and that she is no longer paying attention to Edan and herself. Once she is satisfied, she laughs softly to Edan's question with his kiss still fresh in her mind. "Think nothing of it Edan. You seem to have that natural talent of attracting the...needy ones to you." After she has been escorted back to Lanten's side, she gives her PRINCE a warm smile, a hint of promise in her blue eyes. "Things are going QUITE well, I think." Thoughts of another man on her mind as she replies to Edan. Glancing about her, she places her hand into Lanten's hand and asks him "Speaking of going, have you seen 'Lina recently?" As she hears the sounds of admiration coming from the other patrons, she turns her gaze to the cause of the attention. Her eyes widen as she sees the couple dancing. "OHHH....MY!"
'Shari returns Lanten's smile, eyes twinkling. "Yes, I agree, Edan needs a hand here. Let me see what I can do here..." After a moment of thought, she quickly strides towards her hapless friend and, eyes brimming with un-shed tears. "There you are, Edan. I...I just want to to know...I still have feelings for you." She lays a hand on his arm, ignoring the lady already on his arm. "PLEASE come with me!"
Heh...I am enjoying the romantic angle, it adds depth to the characters. However, I think this Dryad trip has proven to be a dead end. Still, 'Lina might have a lead she can pursue here, he he.

A brief look of disappointment flashes on her face but the look in his eyes quells the feeling. He is right, this is not the place where I want to show my...love for him here. Quickly reapplying her lipstick after the kiss, she then takes Lanten's arm in her own and allows him to lead the way.
Lanten and those who made the above Perception check: When 'Shari feels his lips press up to hers, a swell of emotions rise in her body. She cannot but help but recall her first love, a love she had given freely and which had not been returned but had been abused. She had vowed to keep herself from ever being hurt like that again but Lanten's kiss made that vow meaningless. She returns the kiss a little clumsily at first, then with a growing need and desire for him. Her arms wrap around his neck as she presses her body hungrily against him, her kiss growing more passionate.
After what seems an eternity the kiss is broken, 'Shari's lipstick is smeared over his own lips. Her body trembling with need for him. She tries to say something...anything but all she can think of is HIM...her PRINCE.
Lanten: 'Shari, despite her slender form, finds herself stumbling more than a few times in her stiletto heels during their dance. Strangely she does not mind when he slides his hand across her back in support of her, feeling the satiny fabric of her dress and also her silky skin in certain areas. She barely noticed her poor dancing however, instead drinking in the sensation of being closely held by a handsome, and very desireable man. When the dance ended, she feels a pang of disappointment. When he kisses her cheek she moans softly in pleasure, waiting for him to continue. She sees the look in his eyes, her own eyes completely filled with desire for him. She whispers in his ear, "Is there something wrong, Lanten." Her voice while filled with longing for him also has a note of concern for him.
When Lanten's hand touches her body, 'Shari's body jerks a little reflexively and then relaxes in his touch, his caress. She turns to face him, her face is flushed...flushed with warmth. Her eyes gazing on his face seeing the redness there, with the long lashes framing her pupils. He sees they are wide and filled with...fear? Desire? She is not quite sure yet, but she does not pull away. When he winks at her and asks her to dance, she nods wordlessly not willing to ruin this tender moment. As he leads her to the dance floor, she looks around briefly wondering where her friends had disappeared before she slips into his arms, unable to deny herself any longer. "Thank you for...being with me, my Prince." Her voice soft and husky echoes in his ears as her lips brush against his cheek.
'Shari glances about her noting the athmosphere of the club growing more wild and crazy. The displays of wantonness and debauchery, coupled with being close to Lanten, was causing her whole body to become flushed. She glances down at her dress, now beginning to regret wearing such a revealing dress in this place. She knew she was not meant for a place such as this. She moves closer to Lanten, feeling comforted by his presence. "I...I don't know if we will find anything in this place. Maybe we should leave?"
'Shari moves her hand down to cover his own hand, enjoying the warmth of his body. "Lanten, it's all right. You don't have to defend my honor as if I was your consort. I am not spoken for..." "so you did all right there." She smiles as she look into his eyes. "You may not believe this, but I have to deal with such asses all the time!"
@Shari and Lanten, The man immediately backs down once he sees he is not welcome there, "Your loss miss." He states and then spits into Lanten's glass, turning and walking away. 'Shari places a hand on Lanten's other hand forestalling his reaction to the crudity of the lecher. She eyes him as he walks away, filing his description for future reference. "What a boor he is, Lanten. Here allow me..." She picks up Lanten's wine glass and looks for a place to pour out the spoiled wine. Not seeing any, she waves a waitress over. "Please, can I get a new glass? Thank you very much." As the waitress moves off to get a new glass, 'Shari turns to Lanten a warm look in her eyes. "I suppose we will have to share this glass until she returns." She fills up the goblet and hands it to him. "Don't mind the lipstick!" She giggles as she takes out her compact and touches up her makeup. As she brushes her face reapplying her blush, she glances in 'Lina's direction. "Who is that with her?"
'Shari is momentarily caught off guard by the approach of the drunken nobleman. Briefly she recalls tales told of how agressive the patrons were in their pursuits of pleasure. She pauses for a moment awaiting Lanten to defend her and is briefly confused when he does not react immediately. It is with a start when she realized he is waiting for her approval, as if she wanted to be anywhere else other than with Lanten. She remembers her ex-boyfriend and the brawl which ensued one time after another sailor had propositioned her. She glances at the inebriated nobleman wondering if she has ever met him or seen him before, and then she takes a sip of her wine before replying to the boor. "Actually, good sir, the only ragamuffin I see here is yourself! Kindly leave us be so we..." She slides her hand up Lanten's arm here, "may enjoy the rest of this evening together." She makes it clear who she wants to spend the evening with here.
'Shari laughs lightly, her face dimpling. "Why Lanten, what makes you think I had anything to do with that? 'Lina picked that dress out on her own." She then leans closer to him and continues with a twinkle in her eye, "However, I did pick out her shoes!" She then turns to watch Edan and recalls a talk with 'Lina before concerning the scholar. She remembers how the paladin talked about the scholar and could not help but chuckle. "Ohhh Lanten, I think Edan will be quite safe from any lady. I suspect there is an angel watching over him." She glances at 'Lina and winks at Lanten, making it clear to him just who his angel is.
'Shari's gaze wanders the main room drinking in the chaotic scene. She feels a pang of worry over 'Lina's decision to leave herself un-escorted. I know the men here will swoop on her like vultures picking a corpse clean! Her gaze lingers over Lanten as he walks over to the bar, watching how his body moves in his tight fitting outfit. The smile on her face dims somewhat as she notices him looking over 'Lina, but then returns in full force as he approaches their table, his own gaze running over her body. She cannot help but notice the look in his eyes. It was definitely having a not-unpleasant effect on various parts of her body. As he hands her the glass of wine, her eyes meet his and a flush rises on her face. Trying to maintain some decorum here (admittedly difficult considering the circumstances), she takes a rather long sip of her wine, marveling at how sweet and fruity it tasted. Trying to ignore the warmth spreading through her body, she returns Lanten's smile and asks with a note of huskiness, "How is 'Lina faring?"
'Shari thanks the waitress for spending the time chatting with her. As she turns to leave, 'Shair cannot help but feel a sense of relief in refusing to work here. There was a sense of...hidden secrets here, secrets which would lead to someone being hurt or worse, should they come to light. Still, she knew her questions would draw the attention of someone, so now it was time to wait. Her mood somewhat soured, she turns to face Lanten as she hears his muttered comment. She only nods in reply. Still seeing how he looked at her made her feel much better. "Why thank you Lanten! A glass of Rose wine for me, if you please!"
'Shari is flooded by the sensation, of the sights and sounds of the party atmosphere. She recalls all too well why she refused the job offer to waitress here, instead electing to work at the far more sedate Fish tavern . She nods in reply to Lanten. "I have been here...before. This is actually fairly mellow for them. Still, I do recognize a few people here." She leans into his body closer. "Would you mind walking with me while I talk to some of the waitresses?"
'Shari nods understandingly at Edan's greeting knowing he was very bashful around women, especially pretty women. If he thinks I am stunning, just wait until he sees 'Lina! We may have to pick his jaw up from the floor after-- Lanten's statement nearly took her breath away. Princess? He called me a Princess? I...I have never been called that before... Hurriedly turning away from Lanten to brush the glimmer of a tear starting to form in her eye with her hankie without smearing her makeup, she then takes his arm with hers and replies, "The fortune would be all mine, my PRINCE!"
'Shari spends her time alternately helping 'Lina do her makeup and her hair and fretting on how best to wear her own hair. She eventually decides on braiding her hair and wrapping the braid tightly allowing it to drape down her shoulder. Rather elegant she though. Her own makeup was impeccable, dark eye shadow blending perfectly with her pink blush, just a touch of red. Her lipstick was a darker shade of pink, which made her lips glisten. And her black satin gown clung perfectly to her slender body. Paired with her stocking and heels, she had to admit she looked stunning. Lanten won't know what hit him...or Edan for that matter... Finally, she decides to arm herself discreetly...
As she looks at Lanten, she cannot help but be aware of how her dress clung to her body, and how he must be reacting. She let her own gaze wander over him, appreciating how he looked in his own outfit. Dashing and very handsome. She allows him to take her arm. "Ready, Lanten?"
'Shari laughs, "Wow, to see Edan in a fancy suit, that is what I am MOST looking forward to for our special evening! I hope 'Lina does appreciate the sacrifice he has made for her!" Her voice teasing both of them. "We should have time to head over to that Temple before we make our reservations at the Dryad. I wonder how long Edan will take..." Her voice trails off uncertainly. "If you want to check out that bar you mentioned, I'll go with you. I have worked at seedy bars before, you just need to have a sharp instrument ready...be it an elbow or a blade."
'Shari enjoys the closeness of the handsome half-elven man, his blue eyes drinking her in and feels a pang of disappointment when he lets her go. His smile however chased away her doubts and filled her with a very pleasant feeling, one she had not felt in quite some time. By the Gods...I think I have...feelings for him! She blushes even harder after his wink. "I am sure you would like to know what WE ladies did whilst you gentlemen were working HARD for us...BUT I think you and Edan will both like what 'Lina and I did!" The look of promise in her eyes made 'Shari look much older than she actually was. "If you need me to help you with anything with finding...uhh...whoever you are trying to track down, just let me know. I would be more than happy to help!"
'Shari finishes helping 'Lina out of her evening dress and hangs it up in the closet, along with her own gown. "No need to spoil the men's surprise just YET, right 'Lina?" She smiles evilly. "It is up to you whether you want to keep walking in those heels or not, it is a bit unusual to wear those with your well-worn pants and blouse I will say." As the men arrive, she rushes over to give Lanten a big hug. Looking into his eyes, she is amazed at how blue they are. "How did it go, did you find anything out?"
No problem guys...You all know how long women take when going shopping, he he. Plus, walking in high heels without stumbling like a drunken sailor must take a LOT of practice as well :)
"What do you mean the female form? How do shoes help that?" she askes, unaware of how high heels alter the perception of a woman's body "eitherway, I certainly wouldn't run with them on. I can't imagine why anyone would." 'Shari laughs, "Usually it is either to run away from some undesired suitor, or to chase after them! Still, I think if I were you I would just give them your patented glare, should one decide to get TOO close."
'Shari gives her friend an encouraging smile. "Don't worry about it, 'Lina. The reason why women wear these heels is not for their own benefit but for the benefit of those men who like to watch the female form...move. " She giggles, "Of course, in your case, I would stay very close to Edan when we go there." She pulls a braid in her mouth and absentmindedly chews on it. "I would not try to run in them yet though...Probably want to take them off first, he he."
"We should see if we can get reservations at the Dryad this week, 'Lina." 'Shari says as the storekeeper boxes up their purchases.
'Shari's face shows her disappointment when the shop owner says she does not sell heels. "Oh well, we can buy them someplace else. I can take you to where I bought mine, 'Lina." She looks at 'Lina, "I can tell you right now Edan would love you in any of those dresses, as you look lovely in blue. As for the heels..." her face furrows in concentration as she chews on a braid. "I think you could get away with slippers, but it is certainly not as stylish as wearing heels would be. My advice to you is to get a pair of them and practice wearing them. As you say it is a balance issue."
'Shari giggles, "Yes, she would look like a ghost in that dress! Like she needs any more help in attracting attention to herself! I was thinking of something in a shade of blue..." As she continues explaining what 'Lina would look nice in, she returns to the black satin gown and holds it against her slender body. "We have a date at The Dryad later this week, and we need to look our best for our dates!" She emphasizes the last word for 'Lina's benefit. "Also, we'll need new shoes, of course!"
'Shari walks up and down the aisles in the tent, marvelling at the beautiful gowns on display. One of them caught her eye; a slinky black evening dress slit up to the waist, a shimmering satin. She blushed as she imagined herself wearing it while dancing for Lanten... Hurriedly moving away from the dress, she asks the shop manager "Excuse me, I was in here yesterday and I wanted you to help find a nice dress for my friend here." She introduces her to the shop seamstress, "This is my friend Godelina, she is not used to shopping for dresses, can you help her out?"
