Kyra could only stare. "What in the names of the gods is THAT thing?!" she asked in horrified awe as Valeros and Merisel tried to regain their sanity.
Seoni, unsurprisingly, didn't even bat an eye at the monstrosity. "This is the transport that the Grand Illotoh is lending us as thanks for slaying the Desert Wyrm. This will take us over the mountains so that we can continue our quest."
Kyra frowned as she turned to the sorceress. "I know that, but..." she hesitated; she'd rather not hurt the silver maned spellcaster's feelings by insulting the "vehicle" she worked so hard to acquire...
Merisel had no such limitations. "It's a zombie bird," she said flatly.
"Damn thing's almost as big as a palace..." Valeros added, unable to look away.
"It's a big zombie bird," Merisel amended.
"You can see straight through it's ribs!"
"It's a big and ugly zombie bird."
"Desna's teat, I think it's leaking..."
"It's a big and ugly and sick-"
"We've got the point, thank you Meri," Kyra interrupted, before turning back to the unphased Varisian. "The point is, we don't really want to ride on top of that..." the cleric paused, to think of a polite term. "... abomination."
"Oh," Seoni replied, "we won't be riding on the avian."
That gave her three partners pause. "... But I thought you said-" the swordsman began.
"Of course not: we would be flung off by the winds and motions of the bird. That's why we'll be riding inside of it."
...
"... I'm walkin'."
"Are you out of your mind, you crazy witch?!"
"I'm sure that we can find some horses, instead..."
... ::shrug:: Just thinking about weird "airships"...

MaxSlasher26 wrote: Mog wrote: The occasional rare Airship, ala Setzer's Airship from FFVI (FFIII in the US) was one thing. The small proliferation of a single nation having a little fleet of Airships, ala the Kingdom of Baron from FFIV (FFII in the US) still wasn't too bad. The Dwarven tanks was something else...The Tower of Babil and the Giant of Babil being controlled by a giant Computer...okay, there are some problems.
Anything beyond this sort of proliferation starts detracting from the 'fantasy' feel of a game, going a bit more Steampunk or MagiTech crazy. Each of those games, or FFVII and its motorcycles took things too far in at least some regards.
A suggestion for those who want lots of Steampunk and MagiTech stuff, check out Privateer Press' Iron Kingdom's setting. It also has great rules for firearms too. The Gunmage class is rather awesome. I really liked the setting, but when I was involved there were no books but the main Campaign Guide out. I think there are all kinds of things out for it now.
All that said, my games really go for more Fantasy than the other feel. I am going with the grittiness of Golarion for mine. I personally don't want to see Airships in Golarion...it'd be like seeing Firearms in Conan...I just don't want to see it. Some occasional ancient MagiTech or something left over from Azlant is one thing...Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is something else entirely.
That's exactly why I couldn't stand FFVII and FFVIII. Too much technology. The others were okay for me, but those were really modern-feeling to me. I was happy with the others after those, though. To be fair, though, VII and VIII were suppossed to be more... oh, let's say "Shadowrun"... than D&D (like the first five) or Steampunk (like VI). It's not so much that VII and VIII stepped away from fantasy, it's just they went into a differnt style of fantasy to see how it went.
And, you gotta admit, at least they STAYED in genre, not like X or XII, where Steampunk got into their traditional Fantasy, along with everything else.
Man, I remember reading this one adventure in a new campaign setting that stole its name from a Karl Urban movie... oh man! You see, you have to go fight some hillbilly half giants or something, and there was this really fat one that was a incestual necrophiliac. Horrible horrible stuff! It was like the hack writer was watching a bunch of bad torture porn while writing it!
James Jacobs wrote: As of this point... there are no airships in Golarion. I'm pretty sure there won't be airships in there anytime soon, either. Spaceships, on the other hand...

EDIT: I like the stats as is. I have a few questions, though.
Strength: 10 (+0) | 7 (-2)
Dexterity: 14 (+2) | 13 (+1)
Constitution: 12 (+1) | 9 (-1)
Intellegence: 12 (+1) | 11 (+0)
Wisdom: 14 (+2) | 13 (+1)
Charisma: 16 (+3) | 15 (+2)
What are the stats that I've put in bold? Are they the stats pre-adjustments? When we hit 1st level will the stats change?
Also, do I add any equipment to my list yet or do we need to wait for that?
Those bolded stats are the 12 year old character adjustments.

When I was trying to design a gameworld (which I've put on indefinite hold), I was trying to figure out how to put gargoyles into an undeveloped land with heavy natural mysticism tone. Then I got it.
Gargoyles are the product of a twisted druidic ceremony, where an evil druid transforms his body into a stone creature. Originally intended to change willing participants into a guardian of nature, druids use it on captured civilized people (and themselves) to use as powerful weapons on cities and encroachers.
Or something like that.

Only on the PC's level (in this case 3). Have I been cheating my players who want monstrous characters? I think it's based on HD plus LA plus CL.

Does it matter?
This post is about WoD.
Don't run away!
Anyways, in our group's Werewolf games, it's became a long running tradition to include past characters from other games. For instance, our group had started under one of our English teachers. The sept we were part of was ran by characters from her current Werewolf games with her friends, and they became sort of our mentors. A few years later, one of the members of the group ran a game where our new characters were in a close by but seperate sept with a few of the past characters as the mentors. At one point, we had to track down their former packmates (between the two games, there was a conflict of power between two of the characters (suspicious how the Storyteller's character retained control of the pack...)), and we found out what they were doing.
So, yeah.

Did he do all that giant killing before he was a first level character? Who said he had to be first level? The other iconics that I have seen are statted up at different levels as the AP unfolds. Will Harsk be different? I doubt it; he'll prolly be the same way for the second AP. I think of it more like Harsk has nothing to do with the adventures, but is presented as a pre-gen character to a. give new players an idea of what a character looks like b. show the character's progression in his career that may or may not involve the elements of the AP (I sincerely doubt Harsk would get involved in a city campaign, anyways) and c. to avoid the clamouring of fans to see a write up of the Pathfinder iconics as they did the Dungeon iconics.

I think that in this case I would make it an exceptionally powerful sinspawn. I think I would add the PCs Attack Bonus and hit points and whatever seems to apply to what the sinspawn already has.
O_O
Shem, you have just broken the fourth dimension. Congratulations.
It could possibly count as an evil act, yanno, considering the Runewell's purpose. They can't exactly get out of that by saying they didn't know what it did, since the Quasit spawned a freakin' hate zombie in front of them.

Rolling + 1
Superior Equipment + 1
3 Monk Levels + 3
Merrow + 3
Dire Shark + 9
Lycanthrope + 1
Total: CR 18
I gave a CR for the fact that, despite the fact that the SRD states that if the monster has character levels, the guy has much higher stats than the Elite array would grant. Then I gave another for his superior equipment, which grants a combat advantage. The three monk levels and the Merrow add up.
Now, I'm playing this by ear, but the Dire Shark's CR is 9, half of it's hit dice. Since the other lycanthropes have as their CR 1/2 Animal HD + Class Levels + 1 as their CR, I figured that the total CR for a vanilla Were Dire Shark would be 10.
Of course, I never actually had to do something like this, so I COULD be off...
Back on topic:
It WOULD seem that way, but, currently, we have seen more outsiders from the outer planes than we have from the elemental planes in Pathfinder
So, do we keep the characters we rolled up...?

Actually, here's another thought about psionics (other than the fact that they actually are OGL). Tie them to the god of knowledge, old whatshisface; psionics always made me think of knowledgable monks, and since the keeper of knowledge is the patron of unarmed fisticuffs (as far as I know, at least), it seems like a good fit.

Technically, it's not the same movie as "Payback". ^_^ Well, given that the title is "Payback: Straight Up, the Director's Cut of Payback," that point is debatable--but then again, I didn't know the name of Kevin Bacon's twin! "Straight Up" it is! Yes, but the theatrically released "Payback" is pretty different to the director's cut, since the movie was changed to alter Mel's character.

WotC has likely written us off or simply finds comments on its official board more valid.
Thoughts?
Don't forget that the Paizo guys are still friendly with alot of the designers at WotC. It's likely that, even if they don't check these boards, they still hear the occasional things that we bring up.

Okay, I know some of the other military people here are going to get on me about this, but what's the point of going up the chain of command to complain about a soldier from another unit being "disrespectful" because they don't address them by their title every thirteen seconds, only for their chain of command to contact the other unit, so that the message goes DOWN that chain of command so that the accused soldier's senior can reprimand them, but CAN'T because they have no clue why the issue arose in the first place, when the offended soldier can just reprimand the soldier while they are still in contact with the soldier?
... Yeah.

I don't want, or need, write-ups of adventures. Unless they are unofficial and freely-distributed; some of the campaign journals are quite good and fun.

Quite honestly... I don't think novelizations of the APs are a good idea.
I remember the novelizations of the classic Greyhawk adventures that were done a few years ago (Temple of Elemental Evil, White Plume Mountain, Keep on the Borderlands, etc.), and I remember being underwhelmed and unimpressed with the lot of them. Aside from spoiling most of the adventures for me (when I picked them up the first time, I didn't know that they were actual adventures), they also made the adventures seem, well, boring. I wouldn't have known that the books didn't do the adventures justice if I hadn't played ToEE before.
I have no objections to Paul Kidd's works (White Plume Mountain, Queen of the Demonweb Pitts (or whatever), and Descent to the somethingoranother); Paul Kidd definitely had the better stories and characters, and made the books interesting.
Also, I have a problem with publishing novelizations, as each group has their own way of completing the APs. If an "official" method that was used to go through the AP was put out, quite a few gamers who played or ran through the AP would be put out and their pride pricked.
... In any case, I support Pathfinder novels, but I'd rather see it done in the way that other novels are done: apart from, or even parallel to, the campaingsmodules and paths.
- Jurassic Park (gee... I wonder why...?)
- Pirates of the Carribean (specifically, the Tortuga scenes. It makes me think of Scuttlecove)
Those are the ones that pop into my mind immediately.

For some reason, when I was reading Seoni's bio in the back of HMM, I saw her as someone who got what she wanted, consequences be damned, even if it affected everyone around her.
