Ah, crap, I cocked up and put some backstory into my submission. It was vague, but it's still there. This is what I get for not doing a double check of the advice forums.

If you want actual abilities that reflect her powers... wizard. Universalist wizard, to be exact: their Hand of the Apprentice ability is a dead match for her Moon Tiara Action, and all the heart stuff and reality breaking powers can be fluffed arcane spells. Even the healing spell: just Wish all that up.

If you want a concept that reflects her... probably cleric or oracle of Shelyn, with some sort of curse that, instead of making her lame, makes her clutsy. Alternatively, cleric of Groteus.

We have come across a complication in the Armor as DR rules, when it comes to whether or not DR still applies to the Critical Defense roll if the DR is bypassed by the attack. One example is a person using a magic longsword criticals against a man wearing regular armor: the armor DR is bypassed by the magic sword, so does the man still add that DR to his roll to prevent the critical hit?

SOrry if this has came up: didn't see any posts talking about the issue.

2nd: The charter was issued on 25th day of Talistril, Umm that I think translates to February. The adventures is only a few hundred miles form the polar North, OK so is the charter incorrect? Any idea what month it is supposed to be? Is it summer in February on this planet in this area?

Thoughts?

Not sure right now about your first question, but as for the second one, it's definitely winter when that charter is issued. So, two solutions: one, it's ass cold when the party sets out, with snow on the ground and everything, and two, the party spends several months planning and recruiting for the expedition.

You have to keep mum altogether about your submission that's being voted on in any thread, messageboard, or even website. Posting about other stuff is generally okay. Anyone who dances too close to the flame, however, will get burned.

So commenting on other archetypes is okay, so long as we keep shut about our own.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I'm not sure if there's any rules saying we can or can't, but I plan on not commenting at all on my own archetype until voting's over.

Capital city: D'verek (playing around with an online audio Russian translator resulted in this)
Largest Building: The Founder's Hall (the guildhall that was the first building built, in honor of the different laborer guilds)
City built at Oleg's: Levegrad (Half of Oleg's last name)
First national holiday: Currently can't remember, but it boils down to "That Day when we beat the crap out of that werewolf Day"

Indiana's a nice place, so long as you don't mind bizarre winters: there's snow, then there's not, then there's snow, then there's not, then it's warm!, then there's snow.

Man, you really hate me. It won't be impossible to do, assuming that I make it that far, but it'll make things really... challenging.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I seem to recall, looking at past submissions, one of the things that judges gigged entries on very frequently were the hooks: one of the things you need at the beginning is a good reason for the party to bother with the adventure anyways. So, I'm planning on coming up with at least three different hooks (generally, one for a more good aligned party, one for a more evil aligned party, and one for a more somethingoranother aligned party).

Also, if you try to fit some Golarion lore in your submission, be extremely careful, else you either don't pull it off or you step on someone's toes in doing so.

Hmmm. I had planned on posting a rewrite of my wondrous item. You know correct it and clean it up based on the feedback I received. Maybe I shouldn't.

Go ahead and do it: I'm going to be taking a second look at my item as well.

450 words.

I took a screenshot of it just in case.

Dreamer (Summoner)
Scholars and mystics claim that the strangest and most fantastical experiences can be found in one’s dreams. No one knows this better than the dreamer, whose guardian eidolon walks the earth while its master slumbers.
Eidolon: The dreamer’s eidolon functions as the summoner’s eidolon, except that it may only be summoned if the dreamer is asleep or unconscious; after the dreamer is asleep or unconscious for one minute, the eidolon may be summoned as a free action. If the dreamer wakes up or is killed, his eidolon is immediately banished.
Wandering Dream (Su): At 4th level, the distance an eidolon may move away from its master extends to 500 feet. It may also move up to 5,000 feet at a cost of 50% of its current and maximum hit points, and 5 miles at a cost of 75% of its current and maximum hit points. As the dreamer gains levels, these distances continue to increase: at 8th level, the distances increase to 10,000 feet, 5 miles, and 20 miles, at 12th level to 5 miles, 20 miles, and 100 miles, and at 16th level to 20 miles, 100 miles, and 500 miles.
This is not without its cost: as a result of the dreamer’s losing himself to the dreaming world, he begins to accrue a penalty to Perception checks to awaken equal to ½ of his summoner level. This ability replaces transposition and merge forms.
Master’s Visage (Su): At 12th level, as a full round action, the dreamer can project his consciousness as a shadow conjuration of himself next to his eidolon for 10 minutes per summoner level. This projection is destroyed if it moves beyond 30 feet from the eidolon, and any creature that interacts with the image can make a Will save of DC 10 + ½ his summoner level + his Charisma modifier to recognize its true nature. The projection wears all items that the dreamer is wearing except for items with an extradimensional storage space, and is capable of using the dreamer’s feats, racial, and class abilities. Any consumable item used by the image is destroyed. The dreamer may use this ability once per day, plus an additional time per day at 18th level. This ability replaces aspect and greater aspect.
Eternal Dream (Su): At 20th level, dream becomes reality for the dreamer. The eidolon has no limit to how far away it can move away from its master, as long as it remains on the same plane as its master, and is unaffected by spells such as banishment. If it is sent back to its home plane due to death, it may be summoned back after twelve hours. This ability replaces twin eidolon.

I'm Sean, and this is my first time entering the Superstar. I've been gaming for about ten years, starting in freshman year of high school, starting with D&D 2e (though, I never actually SAW my character sheet for that game...). I really cut my teeth on D&D 3.5 and Werewolf (Glasswalker!).

I'm a pretty avid video gamer, playing everything from JRPGs to shooters to puzzle games, and I aspire to be a writer sometime in the future.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I don't think so: the couple of days are for the judges to look them over, make sure that they fulfill the requirements, and offer criticism.

This one's shaping up to be a rough one: I'm wishing that I had just fifty more words to work with.

Then again, that would lead me to wishing that I had another "just fifty more", and then another "just fifty more", and then...

Anyways, it's pretty challenging and fun, so I'm kind of getting psyched here.

So, if someone's inside, the item can't be activated by another person. The only way to get someone out is by destroying the item or suppressing it.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I was planning on waiting for a bit before commenting on my own item, but I figured I might as well address a few concerns.

First, everyone who has commented on the item has (rightfully) raised the issue that there are unanswered questions about how the item works. Several points that people have noted I had also noted while creating the item, but, unfortunately, could not include in the item due to word count. I believe that the item is currently five words or less shy of the word count limit, so I had to make many decisions on what to keep and what to trim in the final cut of the item.

For destroying the item: I had considered including the statistics for the item in case someone did try to (or accidentally) destroy it, but the word count beast had reared its head. Plus, I figured that it was ultimately a waste of valuable words, since there's rules in the SRD that explain how to determine a magic item's hardness/HP/saving throws.

In the case of the wearer dying: If the wearer dies while wearing it, then he's dead and stuck inside (after all, a corpse is incapable of taking actions, unless said corpse is undead). The last paragraph of the item already describes how to get the corpse out, though there might be a mess that needs cleaning. ;)

The name: I claim full responsibility for the unevocative name. Both of my proofreaders warned me that it just wasn't very catchy, but I kind of liked its simplicity (I originally wanted to call it just "Collapsible Robe"), and I just couldn't think of a name that was flashy yet not, well, stupid.

Price of item: The pricing was probably the most difficult part of this item. Using the core rules for pricing gave me something in the hundred thousands worth of coins, so I initially scaled it to something like 20,000 gold. Then, as I continued to work on it, I saw lots of potential for utility use (such as, as Mr. Dancey noted, someone who didn't need air or food using it, or its potential as a rich man's feather fall), and I continued to scale the price up. In retrospect, though, I should have compared it to spells that PCs would have available at that point in time (I did compare it to similarly priced items).

Safety clause: you're right, there should be more of a catastrophic consequence for destruction. After all, higher price and greater power equals immense consequence.

Senses not working: this was me playing with the function of arcane eye. I figured that, since it's a spell that providing the senses while inside the robe, and not the character himself, any special senses that the character has wouldn't apply. It's kind of like looking through someone else's eyes: if that person can't see in the dark, then there's no reason that you should be able to see either, and the reverse applies (unless I'm completely misinterpreting how that works in Pathfinder). Senses such as blindsense and tremorsense not working should be obvious. Plus, it gives the item a flaw, so that it's not completely perfect.

Provoking AOOs: This is one of the things I had cut out due to word count. Originally, I did have it provoke an AOO, but, as written, it would be up to the GM.

Activation: "On command, the wearer and non-living objects up to the wearer's maximum load..." Command is a standard action, as per RAW. I didn't feel the need to waste words reiterating things that should be readily obvious.

Reappearing while someone's wearing it: Another thing that got cut from the final draft. There's nothing stopping the user from popping out of the robe, though that would mean that there's now two people that are potentially hostile towards each other sharing the same clothes. :D

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Well, without the hometowns the list looks a lot cleaner, but yeah, it was kind of fun seeing where everyone was from.

By the way, I'm out of West Lafayette, IN.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

That first thirty minutes of adrenaline and giddiness was exciting (and a bit scary), but after four hours of reading and commenting, I'm just tired. Plus, seeing everyone's items and the judges comments on my own item sobered me up.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Unfortunately, you're the last one that I've read, so you get to deal with the tired me.

Anyways, the infinite length with a finite radius is an interesting touch. It's obviously most useful in mazes, though it does serve purpose as a last resort. So, pretty cool.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

It's an interesting item, and looks like fun. I think Mr. Russell's already pointed out all of the "holes" in the item.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I was immediately leery of the item when the whole juxtaposition thing came up, but it seems to be pretty solid. A keeper, in my opinion.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Creepy as all get out, mechanically sound, and fun to use? Golden.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Ooh, useful! I bet people in places like Ustalav love this item.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I'm not really sure what to think about the special ki ability, to be honest. I like the item as a whole, and it's easy to understand, but I'm not really sure how well it would work in the long run.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

These are pretty interesting boots, and made me consider getting them over the usual BoSS for my melee characters. Could use a bit more tightening with the crunch, and the bit about "elite tiefling skirmishers of Cheliax" made me raise an eyebrow, but I like these.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

The name caught my attention, though I'm not sure if it was in a good way or not: mostly, I was curious as to what the heck it even meant.

Anyways, it's interesting, though a hard cap on the number of shadows it can hold and a shorter and less obtuse means of capturing shadows would make it better, in my opinion.

Cool, fun item, though a bit expensive for my tastes. Should probably have an evil aura.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Wow, this looks like a fun item. Perfect for a murder mystery, whodunnit session!

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I'm kind of "eh" about this entry: I can see where you're taking this item, but it's just not taking "root" in my mind. The lack of friendly fire is a bit head scratching, and the mechanics seem somewhat wonky in my mind.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Quote:
This tiger’s eye amulet is carved with various Vudrani runes.

This almost killed the item for me: it's kind of a weak description, and seems almost lazy.

Over all, the item's okay: the ability as a whole is fairly interesting, and the list is sort of a necessary evil, but it doesn't really latch onto me. I can tell that you put a lot of thought into it, though, so I'm expecting several more interesting entries from you in the future.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I didn't really understand this item until I read Mr. Dancey's comments. Now that I have an idea of what it did, it's kind of latching onto me. The huge problem is being less wordy and more clear with your writing. It's an item that I would consider having in my home game, just for the lulz factor.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

The "forgetting the spell" bit should be clarified, but this is an interesting and very wicked item. I'm really digging it.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Interesting item with an interesting effect. Not sure if I'd allow it in my game, though...

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

I love this item. There's really not much else I have to say about it.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

Wow, this could be a real mind bending item. I have the same concern that Mr. Reynolds has about having a spell level limit, and it also being a hat of disguise is a bit too much, but, otherwise, I really like this item.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

The bit about burying the pouch sold me on this item. This is something that I'd consider putting in a campaign.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

It could use some work in the mechanics, and I'd rather see it lose hit points more slowly, but other than that, I love this item.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

The name's a mouthful, but the item's great. Another thing to consider is that it's potentially a useful item for a healer, because of the blindsense. Just a thought.

Qadira Sean Huguenard aka Sect (RPG Superstar 2011 Top 32)

The anti-flanking bit is a tad odd, but it works. The permanent blindness bit concerns me, though the low save helps. Also, I love the bit about good aligned characters wearing it, though it's odd that that save's higher than the blindness save.
