Still here, though I'd propose if we get going again (and most of the players are still around and interested) maybe we advance the timeline forward by a couple of weeks? Say we finished the first adventure (I think we pretty much did) give us a monologue to tie up loose ends, some downtime to buy equipment and level up or whatever, and then launch fresh into the next chapter.

What do you think?

"I don't particularly care for assassins. Too sneaky for the likes of myself. However, they do seem to carry the best in fine magic items..."

Tyndal grabs the remaining biscotti.

"Let's roll"

Shaking her head, Kora carries in a mug filled with dark, scalding liquid and wraps Seann’s fingers around the edges. It might be coffee, but it’s black as Vanthus’ soul, thick as tar, and smells as if there might be a dead rat surprise at the bottom.

Seann smiles, accepting the mug.

"Go mbeannaí Dia duit, leannán."

He downs the entire mug in one gulp.

"Good brew, luv. What's in it?"

As to Anders, I was hoping you would have already met up with him, or that he would have returned by now, but this does not appear to be so. Perhaps it would be prudent to inquire after him?

Though there are no outward signs, it is becoming quite apparent that Seann has gotten drunk off his nut while Eldin and Terin have been gone.

"Sure is taking them a long time, wonder if they got arrested?"

Seann gazes morosely at his empty flask.

Once the others catch up, how long do you think you may need to rest before setting off after him?

"Not long, m'Lady. I don't believe any of us are badly injured, and I only need to recover my spells. Though, some of my incantations have been just... well... Never mind. It won't be long, hopefully, until our compatriots return."

"Um no, didn't catch the name. Besides, that was part of the deal, she gives us Vanthus, we don't bug her."

"As I recall, she did mention her name, actually. The Lady Rowyn, eldest daughter of House Kilawni."

Lord Lidu chokes a little on his tea, while Lavinia looks a bit taken aback herself.

A noble, so the rumors are true; did you learn her identity? I take you at your word, but on the council it is not what you know, it is what you can prove. Did you bring back any proof of the noble’s schemes?

"Well, aside from scars, bruises and bite wounds... I actually don't know."

He mumbles to Seann "Why in the bloody hell did they send us here again? And give me some of that rotgut"

"No idea, mate. And this, my friend, is no ordinary rotgut. It's an old Olman recipe, requiring the essential chemicals to be enchanted with spells of a specific nature. You really need to mix it with the junglefolk's kaf to get the full effect, but tea will do in a pinch."

Seann downs the noxious brew in one swift gulp, showing no discomfort at either the scalding tea or toxic chemicals. He offers Tyndal the rest of the vial.

"To our continuing survival. And make sure I get the bottle back. It was quite expensive."

Following introductions, Kora covers three chairs with white linen covers for the trio, and Lavinia thanks you again for your service, and requests an update on your progress, letting you know you may speak freely, Lord Lidu being a staunch ally of the family. The late middle-aged man in wizard’s robes offers you a silent smile, then leans back and resumes sipping a strong smelling, bitter tea. As you begin, Kora offers you more of the same.

Seann sits nervously in one of the chairs, his large frame appearing almost comical when compared to the small size of the furniture.

He nods at Lord Lidu's smile, still appearing a bit shellshocked from the past few days, but noticeably warms up after the offer of tea. Daintily taking the cup and saucer in one of his mitt-like hands, he pulls a vial of a clear, pungent liquid from his kit bag. After adding most of the liquid to his tea (creating an odor not unlike that of turpentine or mineral spirits), he raises the teacup in a toast.

"Slainte. You have to add just the right amount o' wood alcohol. Improves the taste, you see."

By chest I mean shirt (ouch).

Hey, that's what staplers are for!

Seann rubs the bridge of his nose, then pulls a hip flask from his belt pouch and takes a long draw.

"Bloody wierd..."

What is the new "flag" button for? Capturing, perhaps?

"This doesn't seem right. There's something going on that we don't know about."

Seann looks intently at Terin, unsure whether to voice his own opinion.

He remembers what happened after the last time he did that...

Seann's leveled. I used a feat from Races of Destiny, if that's OK. And, I think that he's finally up to the same power level as the rest of the party.

We're leveling? As usual, I missed something...

Seann's eyes dart back and forth between his companions and the Lady Rowyn.

"Uh, eh, hmmm..."

“We need to act fast,” says Eldin. “Anyone hurt? Alright, Terin, Marius, which way to the boss lady, or a defensible position bar that. Or do we keep making our stand here?”

"I'm not hurt, but I've no spells left. At least, I don't think I have any spells left..."

Seann trails off, then starts again.

"We'd best keep moving, mo charad. Cut off the snake's head and all that, eh?"

He attempts to appear unconcerned, but doesn't quite make it.

Probably posting out of order. Retcon as you see fit.

Seann hurls his spear at the nearest rogue. The missile flies true, trailing a ghostly green luminescence.

Attack: 18 + 1 + 2 = 21; damage: 1d8 + 4 = 10

Seann is decidedly not happy about the situation.

"This'd better work. My last one."

He mutters something under his breath, and the point of his spear lengthens, transforming into a glassy, green material.

Taking aim, he raises the weapon to his shoulder, ready to let fly.

Casts magic weapon. Have you ever considered switching to the PFRPG rules? I've found that Seann tends to run out of spells very quickly.

"Bloody hell!"

Seann whips around with his spear, but in his frenzy, misses by a mile.

Attack: 3 base. I've been rolling horribly today.

Seann is panicking.

"What the HELL ARE YOU DOING?! Are you TRYING to get us ALL KILLED!?"

As his agitation builds, a halo of green begins to surround him, and his eyes flash golden.

“Well, dead or run off, he ain’t been back for quite some time now,” he tells you. Exasperated, he says, “I can’t imagine how you young folks made it down this far.”

Can I get spot and listen checks from Marius and Seann?

Spot: 7 + 0 = 7

By the way; Mike, I'm leaving early tomorrow morning for an art workshop at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and I'm not sure about what kind of internet access I'll have, so if I haven't posted by tomorrow evening, please NPC my character.

Startled, the man stops swatting at the butterflies for a moment, “Surrender? I was surrendered, you damn kids.”

“Look, just put your weapons back in their sheaths and calm your pet here and we’ll all go and see the Lady. You young folks might not know this yet, but it is not nice to keep a lady waiting!”

"Hey, I'm not touching him. You calm him down."

Falling back on old wives’ tales to carry the day, Seann plunges the head of his spear towards the zombie’s temple. The creature bats the weapon aside with its morningstar, but Seann perseveres, leaping into the air and driving the spike downward with the full weight of his body. The weapon lances the undead’s cranium, and you hear a distinct “crack!” come from the interior of the skull. Black energy leaks from around the wound, snaking up the spear with outstretched tendrils.

Taking advantage of the torrent of negative energy pouring from the creature after Seann’s desperate attack, Eldin slips around the combatants, aiming the wand directly into the opening in the zombie’s skull. Discharging positive energy into the wound, the inverse forces prove too much and the creature loses cohesion, exploding into a shower of putrid organs, congealed blood, and tainted bone.

"Oh, THAT was just TOO BLOODY MUCH!"

Seann is pretty close to one of his famously epic panic attacks.

Ardan has one hit, one miss, Terin's is a hit by a nose, Seann's is a miss (by 2, could use an action point, finish it off?).

Using action point: 1d6 = 3, over by 1.

"Uh, aim for the head in case it's a zombie. Yeah, it's a zombie, so..."

Seann takes relatively careful aim, then drives his spear into the zombie's head.

Attack (spear): 15 - 4 (called shot) + 3 = 14; damage (if app.): 1d8 + 3 = 8

"Yeah, that was completely your fault. And you get on my case for acting like a fool..."

Seann sighs, then snaps his fingers. Another whirling green disc materializes at his fingertips, spiraling towards the old man.

Casts magic missile, damage: 1d4+1 = 5

"You again. Didn't I shoot you?"

Seann attempts to push past TeAM STyE into closer range.

"Aim for the head!"

"Why pay for one X, when you could buy 100 Y's for the same price and kill a thousand times as many Z's?"

"Zombie! Bugbear, and it appears to have some sort of additional necromancy imbedded in its flesh! We must be careful!"

Seann takes his usual position slightly behind Tyndal, spear at the ready.

Marius nods, "This won't have been the only guard on the inner sanctum..."

"Wonderful. Just bloody wonderful."

Seann notices Tyndal's introduction and decides to do so likewise.

"Seann, I am."

He gives a small bow, incongrous with his large frame and savage finery.

Seann, I’m going to move the knowledge checks back into this round with the casting, if that’s ok, and use the spear for round 2?

Fine with me.

"Huh. I was under the impression that the dreaded rhagodessa would be much more difficult to kill..."

Seann eyes Marius' guild tattoo with interest.

"It would be of great interest to me to know how one creates an animated mark such as that. Perhaps some sort of contingency dweomer?"

Seann's confidence has improved a bit since the last few fights. Gripping his spear with both hands, he maneuvers around to the side of the creature and drives his weapon into the arachnid's chitinous body.

Attack: 14 + 3 = 17; damage: 1d8 + 3 = 8

Jerking his spear free, Seann racks his brain for any clue as to what he's fighting...

Knowledge (arcana): 13 + 8 = 21
Knowledge (nature): 9 + 8 = 17

Posting out of initiative.

"Damn, damn, damn... If I'd only not wasted my damn missile..."

Seann dithers for a moment, then has a flash of insight. Almost instinctually, he rushes towards Tyndal, grasping the back of the fighter's head with one hand.

A whirling ring of ethereal, glowing Celestial script surrounds Tyndal, deflecting some of the creature's attacks.

Casts Shield of Faith spontaneously. Tyndal now has a +2 deflection bonus to AC.
