The Celestial Dragon
"Altai, everything seems calm. Much like the centre of a hurricane I suspect. No sign of Beldan yet, but there may be more coccoons below Elgan's wall. Or perhaps ... through the gate." You can hear the distaste in Satari's voice at the thought of entering that vile yellow cloud. "What can we do about our blinded companions? And our wounds?"
The Celestial Dragon
Ref save DC 22: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36 Satari shrugs off the clinging darkness, remaining stoic in the face of its vile shadow. He looks down into the depths of the tower, seeking further threats to face or innocents to rescue. Perception 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (19) + 24 = 43 "Have we rescued everyone we can? Did we find Beldan? I don't like the thought of that gate behind Elgan's stone wall, or what might emerge from it."
The Celestial Dragon
Satari flies up just as Elgin's wall closes beneath his feet. He is tempted to plunge straight into the ominous cloud of darkness, seeking the malice at its centre. "Does anyone know what that shadow is?" Instead, the monk charges in a long spiral at the mothman menacing Pip and Altai. Charge m4. Attack: 1d20 + 21 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 21 + 3 + 2 + 1 - 1 = 39; damage 4d8 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (7, 2, 3, 6) + 9 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 4 = 42.

The virulent green ray strikes Satari in the centre of his chest, attempting to rend the monk's material form apart. Fort save 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31 Having withstood the spell, Satari again decides not to bother crossing the intervening space to his target, instead simply appearing where he needs to be and launching a devastating assault. Abundant Step to N-O 21-22. Attack mi.
Crit confirm:
The Celestial Dragon
Satari shudders briefly as his body dehydrates under the mothman's assault, but the old man's flesh is already withered and toughened by long decades of training. Fort: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29. Take 22 damage. "Stay safe. I'll be back if needed but that spell was unpleasant." Seeing that the mothmen are content to attack from range with their fell sorceries, Satari moves to meet them. Or rather, slides between dimensions and appears above the caster mothman, fists and feet driving it down into the air elemental below. Abundant Step to E-F 12-13. Flanking with the air elemental.
Crit threats:
The Celestial Dragon
Satari should have made another save: Fort DC 24: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33 The toxin has no effect on the monk's constitution. EDIT: also, Satari has been immune to poison since level 11 :) Satari looks guardedly at the newcomer and gets to one knee, still close to Altai's recumbent form. "His facepaint is not encouraging - but I have seen stranger sights since traveling with you. Friend or foe, do we think?"
The Celestial Dragon
Satari shrugs off the dagger as a flesh wound, then feels a unearthly chill penetrate his bloodstream. Fort save: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26 He steels himself but is still distracted enough that he fails to defend properly against the shaggy outsider's furious assault. Bleeding, reeling, the old monk gives no ground, standing between Altai and this threat. Satari channels his ki inward, creating a knot of energy that hardens and toughens his skin and gives it a sheen like polished iron. Ki Defense: +4 AC this round. AC is 34. His attack is unhindered by his defensive meditation. Flurry. Haste. Dragon Stance. Dragon Ferocity. Inspire Courage. Ki Strike (adamantine). Mass Bull's Strength. Power Attack.
Satari has 80/147 HP remaining.
The Celestial Dragon
Satari concentrates on putting the shagnasty beast down so that Elgan can concentrate on other matters.

The Celestial Dragon
Satari disdains the enemy attacking him in favor of assisting Altai. The enlarged monk flies straight up, and then veers toward the shaggy outsider with a powerful charge, hoping to distract it. Charge: 1d20 + 21 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 21 + 2 + 3 + 1 = 41; damage 4d8 + 9 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 2) + 9 + 3 + 2 = 25

Satari winces at the awful noises but seems unphased Will save: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34. "A fine idea with the acid," he remarks to Emrael above the gibbering howls, "but whatever they are they seem to like it." Seeing that the creature's tentacles are more resistant than he first thought, he strikes quickly and powerfully, with a series of spinning kicks and back-fist punches, gyrating with deadly precision in the air above the pit. Flurry. Dragon Stance. Dragon Ferocity. Inspire Courage. Ki Strike (adamantine). Mass Bull's Strength. Power Attack.
Crit confirmation on attack 4: 1d20 + 18 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 18 + 3 - 4 = 35, damage 2d10 + 9 + 3 + 3 + 8 ⇒ (4, 6) + 9 + 3 + 3 + 8 = 33 Satari might be flanking with Gjetost but I'm not sure so I didn't include flanking bonuses. 3D is hard!
The Celestial Dragon
Satari sees the opportunity that Getost's maneuver creates. He launches himself upwards, striking not at the enemies themselves but at the oozing tentacles that connect them to Altai's guardian. He seeks to rip through them with a single furious flying kick, leaving the teckalilis to plunge back into their pit. Dragon Stance. Inspire Courage. Flying charge. Power Attack.
The Celestial Dragon
Grateful for the renewed life and vitality provided by Elgan's healing arts, Satari is quiet while the group continues exploring. He is as bemused as his companions by the river scene through their first door. He moves in front of Emrael to examine the next door for tricks and traps. Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36

Satari reels under the elephantine abomination's assault as it tears through Altai's arcane protections and into his whipcord flesh. Bleeding and stunned he instinctively throws himself to safety. His form flickers and reappears instantly across Claw's broad shoulder. Shuddering he tries to focus his ki to staunch the great gushing wounds. 5 HP left even with false life! Aware of the peril behind him the monk steps to one side then launches a devastating series of blows at the damodand, hoping to destroy it quickly. Full attack, spending 1 ki for extra blow.
Crit confirmation on Attack 3 1d20 + 20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 20 + 3 - 4 = 28; damage 2d10 + 8 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 8 ⇒ (4, 6) + 8 + 3 + 4 + 4 + 8 = 37
The Celestial Dragon
Satari moves quickly (unlike his player!) around the back of the tarry beasts, hoping to provide Emrael with a flanking opportunity. His stance becomes supple and sinuous leading inexorably to a single powerful kick at the end of his movement. Taking note of the sticky fate of the sword of Altai's servant, the old monk is careful to strike the demon's head only with the sole of his sandal. Adopt dragon style. Move to Y 17 avoiding AoOs.

"Altai's plan still seems wise. We need enchantments of flight and stealth before we descend upon them with mayhem and war." The old monk looks eager for this, as you have not seen him look eager for combat often before. His sensitive soul feels evil roil from this place like the more tangible aura of cold, and for once he has no qualms about going into battle.
The Celestial Dragon
"Remember that the green lands and sunlit hills, the mountain snows and high arc of the osprey still exist in the worlds we know. This desolation is the ... despair ... of some dreamer. Do not lose yourself in it." Satari pitches his voice to reach the rest of the party. "Is there any value in descending to speak with those who toil below?"
The Celestial Dragon
Satari climbs up into the rigging to be near Elgan-monkey, moving lightly from hand to hand and balancing on the spars like a life-long sailor. "You have a deep connection with the land. Does this desolation pain you very much?" Sympathy reflects in the old monk's lined face. Did somebody have find the path available?

Satari, alert to Elgan's palpable moral distress, tries to ease the druid's heart. "As I remember, she stepped willingly into the machine to speed us on our mission. A worthy sacrifice, and one I hope she does not regret, wherever her essence now rests." "Altai, can we proceed? Or do we need some new form of motive power? If so we may find a willing volunteer beneath the waves." Satari shudders with repressed memories of lambent green possession. ... kill me or free me...
