I think there was a change made to the Vanish spell in PRD but I can't find any reference to it in the message boards or in errata.

I remember seeing Vanish as a Swift action spell in PRD. I also remember seeing references to Vanish being a Swift action on the message boards. I specifically remember a whole discussion about whether or not Vanish should be allowed to be used in Item Creation due to it being a Swift action Invisibility and overshadowing the already existing Ring of Invisibility.

I read a bit through a thread discussing the Ninja's Vanishing Trick and saw references to the Vanish spell; so I looked it up again in the PRD. To my surprise the action listed is a Standard action.

Does anyone know if/why/when this was changed? Or am I just remembering wrong and it was always listed as a Standard action in the PRD.

My question is pretty simple: Are levels in Shadowdancer meant to stack with levels in Rogue to determine “Rogue level” for the Rogue Talents that depend on Rogue level? So for instance, if I was a level 10 Rogue and level 10 Shadowdancer with the Resiliency, Knock-Out Blow, Minor/Major Magic, or Dispelling Attack Rogue Talents, would the levels in Shadowdancer count toward “Rogue level” since the Shadowdancer also has the Rogue Talents class feature? I am aware that the “levels stack” caveat is not present in either the Rogue’s or Shadowdancer’s Rogue Talent entries and so by strict RAW the levels don’t stack for determining Rogue level for the Rogue Talents. But it does say “This functions as the rogue talent class feature.” What I am really looking for here is developer (official) input as to whether they are intended to stack. The Shadowdancer receives the Rogue Talent class ability so it makes sense that they would stack, much like the levels stack for Uncanny Dodge, however it isn’t explicitly stated in the entries for Rogue Talents.

If I am a 10 Rogue/10 Shadowdancer and have any of these:

Resiliency (Ex): Once per day, a rogue with this ability can gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the rogue's level. Activating this ability is an immediate action that can only be performed when she is brought to below 0 hit points. This ability can be used to prevent her from dying. These temporary hit points last for 1 minute. If the rogue's hit points drop below 0 due to the loss of these temporary hit points, she falls unconscious and is dying as normal.

Will I get 10 THP or 20 THP?

PRD wrote:
Knock-Out Blow (Ex): Once per day, the rogue can forgo her sneak attack damage to attempt to knock out an opponent. She must declare the use of knock-out blow before she makes the attack. If the attack hits, it does normal damage, but instead of dealing sneak attack damage (and instead of any effect that triggers when the rogue deals sneak attack damage), the target falls unconscious for 1d4 rounds. A successful Fortitude save reduces this effect to staggered for 1 round. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the rogue's level + the rogue's Intelligence modifier.

Will the Fort DC be 10 + 5 + INT bonus or 10 + 10 + INT bonus?

PRD wrote:

Major Magic (Sp): A rogue with this talent gains the ability to cast a 1st-level spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list two times a day as a spell-like ability. The caster level for this ability is equal to the rogue's level. The save DC for this spell is 11 + the rogue's Intelligence modifier. The rogue must have an Intelligence of at least 11 to select this talent. A rogue must have the minor magic rogue talent before choosing this talent.

Minor Magic (Sp): A rogue with this talent gains the ability to cast a 0-level spell from the sorcerer/wizard spell list. This spell can be cast three times a day as a spell-like ability. The caster level for this ability is equal to the rogue's level. The save DC for this spell is 10 + the rogue's Intelligence modifier. The rogue must have an Intelligence of at least 10 to select this talent.
Dispelling Attack* (Su): Opponents that are dealt sneak attack damage by a rogue with this ability are affected by a targeted dispel magic, targeting the lowest-level spell effect active on the target. The caster level for this ability is equal to the rogue's level. A rogue must have the major magic rogue talent before choosing dispelling attack.

Is my caster level for these abilities 10 or 20?

It makes sense for the levels of Shadowdancer to count toward “Rogue level” for the purposes of Rogue Talents simply because it is also a Shadowdancer class feature. However, the Shadowdancer’s Rogue Talent entry doesn’t have the “levels stack” caveat so I would like to get some official input on this. Are Shadowdancer levels meant to stack with Rogue levels for determining “Rogue level” in regards to the Rogue Talent class ability?

This has been bothering me, I will keep up with a thread and then after it has been dormant for a while it's like it disappears. In particular I am talking about a couple threads in the rules questions section. They don’t even appear if you go down the list of threads in Rules Questions and if you use the search feature one of them comes up and the other I have not been able to find anywhere, luckily I still had a post I put on the thread in my profile and linked to it from there. Upon having this trouble I started saving all the threads I was looking at in my Favorites on the web-browser. I was hoping there was some better way of keeping track of these things.

Is there a way of saving ALL the posts you do in your profile and organizing them or are you just stuck with Recent Posts? For instance organizing all posts under the headings of which thread you posted them in and further organize those threads under which forum they were in. I really would like to keep track of all the posts that I make even if they are old and in threads that have magically disappeared from the forums.

The other question I have is about subscribing to recent posts on a thread or by a person. Where do these new posts go that you can keep track of them after you subscribe or are you notified in some way of the new post? Is there a way to keep that organized? Or does it just end up as a jumbled list like the Recent Posts part of your profile? I haven’t subscribed to any new posts on any threads so I don’t know exactly what it does, that might be the answer to my first question.

Anyone with some insight on this, I would appreciate any information. Thank you.

My post is regarding the Iron Bands of Binding, a relatively powerful 1/day item in the 3.5 rules. I am new to Pathfinder but have been playing 3.5 for as long as it has been around. I don't have the Pathfinder RPG Core Rule Book and am going off the Pathfinder RPG Reference Document description of the item (http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ under magic items/wondrous items/iron bands of binding). It seems that, beside its name, this item has undergone one other important change. In addition to a DC 30 strength check, and a DC 30 Escape Artist check, a DC 30 "combat maneuvers check" will also free you from the item. If I understand the new CM system right this would work off of a character's CMD which is 10 + BAB + STR mod + DEX mod + SSM. If I am right so far, however, there is no check to be made. Isn’t CMD a static # like AC, so what is a "combat maneuver check"? Would it instead add your CMB (BAB + STR mod + SSM) but it doesn’t seem like that would fit, it's not an attack.

The second part of this post may render the first irrelevant. Is the inclusion of the "combat maneuver check" legitimate in this item's description? It doesn't make sense to me that it would be. I say this for several reasons:

1) Lower on the page there is a Rope of Entanglement which does virtually the same thing but with lower DC's of only 20. This item does not include anything about a "combat maneuver check".

2) If it functioned off of CMB, why have both a STR check DC 30 and a CMB check DC 30? No one would use only a STR check when they could add their STR, BAB, and any possible size modifier to the same check.

3) If it functioned off of CMD, the item becomes almost entirely useless by mid to high levels (which would make sense for some weaker items but this is a 26,000gp item, a character wouldn’t be expected to have this before mid to high levels of play). A fighter of 15th lvl would have a CMD of 10 + BAB 15 + STR mod (which would probably be considerably high I would say at least a +5) + DEX mod (maybe not so high but even a +1 would help) + SSM = 30 at a minimum (probably more) which means they would have no effort to get free. A STR check alone would make this very difficult to escape but not impossible, however, a CMD check makes the item useless against any fighter of mid to high lvl. Even a wizard of 15 lvl would have a CMD of at least +7 but could be higher if they have a STR mod, DEX mod, or SSM. So, if this is the case your 26,000gp, one shot per day item is relatively easy to get around, if not completely useless.

Ultimately I don't think it makes sense and would like to know firstly if this is a legitimate rule and not a typo and secondly if it is legitimate, how is the "combat maneuver check" to be applied?

Thank you in advance.
