I'd still go with James Earl Jones

I have to agree that you can use tumble while flying. It says in phb that you can tumble as a part of normal movement. Flying is normal movement when you have fly speed. I think it's that simple. According to RAW fly maneuverability doesn't affect the use of tumble skill in any way. Of course you can make house rules if you think that's not good way to go in your games...

As well as hilarious.

Yea, way to end an epic campaign...

Yeah, I ran him as written. Didn't even get to attack. Spent half an hour reading trough his abilities for nothing. Should have run him the way you did.

Oh, that's just wrong. Kyuss was a long fight in our games, but he still wasn't very dangerous. My players grappled him... THAT was sad.

I've noticed with my group that it's best to somehow give some BBEG's more hitpoints. For example I had to give Nualia more healing spells, she wouldn't have lasted more than two rounds otherwise. Aldern in Skinsaw murders would've been better fight if he had few hitpoints more. Xanesha in the same chapter had lot's of hp's and she was a very good and challenging fight. My players are able to cause massive amounts of damage in two rounds. If the BBEG survives that, the fight gets interesting. Of course it's good to let the pc's win a fight easily sometimes, but if a main villain doesn't even get a chance to attack, the fight is a major anti-climax.

Acev wrote:

Dragotha got in a few licks thanks to the forcecages, but was on the defensive the whole fight. My players had a much harder time with the wormdrake.

Kyuss went down in the second round. The players hadn't even all acted yet.

Wow, did you weaken Kyuss like it was suggested in the adventure? I decided to run him with all abilities in the stat-block and didn't give my players a free round like it was suggested. The fight lasted two 6 hours sessions...

Oh yeah, Aldern was a bit too easy, I would beef him up a little too.

There's no other Karzoug for me than James Earl Jones.

"Infidel Defilers. They shall all drown in lakes of blood. "

Just finished running my group through Age of Worms, and mixed in with the exciting moments were some really disappointing battles. The spellweaver lich, Dragotha, Kyuss, chumps the lot of them.

Before I start running Runelords, I would appreciate a heads up on any BBEGs who end up being as dangerous as a five year old with a lollipop.

So any chumps in RotR?

Wow. Dragotha and Kyuss were chumps in your games? My group kicked the baddies ass through the campaign, except Dragotha and Kyuss. Those were the really hard ones...

Anyway, in my group (same one who played through AoW) Ironbriar in Skinsaw murders lasted two rounds. But that was okay, because next fight was with the real BBEG, Xanesha. Fight with Xanesha was long and hard for them, so it didn't matter that Ironbriar dropped so soon. In Burnt offerings only real threat to my players was Nualia, whose spell-list I altered a bit to give her few more healing spells, so she could stay in battle a little longer. Oh, I have to add that I have only three players, 28 point buy.

Haven't run Hook mountain massacre yet, but in first two chapters the real BBEG's are far from five year olds. Of course that might not be the case with your group if even Dragotha wasn't challenging...

Very impressive, can we have a leading lady in the next one though? I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the kind words! Leading lady would be great, unfortunately only lady in our group is our producer, who won't act. We wanted to do these last two films without professional actors, using only our friends inside our association. But maybe I could get professional actors in our next one =). I'd love to do another barbarian film, but with a woman as a leading actor. Maybe something like Red Sonja, that'd be cool.

Soooo when do we get the PDF of player's guide? =)

samurai/fantasy can we see that one!

I'll have to say carnival of tears. Haven't played the adventure, but with the upcoming guide to darkmoon vale, it would be great to have more adventures in that area....

I remember reading somewhere that it won't be in the RotRL Map folio... but I can't confirm it 'cause I can't find the thread...

Am I just blind, or why can't I find Minkai on the map?

Sweet! I've been waiting for this to appear as a preview. It looks very good, like all of the maps in Pathfinder. I still can't wait to see a version with a bigger resolution, so I can see what all those little texts are =). Where is this going to get printed first? Gazetteer? Any hope for a poster map? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere...

I just started drawing Turtleback Ferry with Photoshop. Man that's hard to do. I respect cartographers in Pathfinder and Dungeon even more now... I learned that I should really do a sketch on paper first. =)

Sigh...if only...if only I hadnt already run Skinsaw. This would have been soo great to have on hand. handouts are so much better than descriptions.

Damn Damn Damn.

Did your players decipher the journal? My players still have the journal, but haven't been able to read it because it's written in three different languages. I think I'm going to use this journal, thanks to OP.

The site was unusable in here yesterday...

Heh, all your reasons why you didn't like it makes me want to get this module even more.

The art looks absolutely amazing!

Ok, thanks a lot!

What the... Most of our games I'm the DM. I've never done anything like this, but still I'm ashamed of myself. They give DM's a bad name...

Yea, I always thought that jump is quite useless skill if you can't do awesome stuff like that with it =). Besides, I'd be willing to sacrifice my character for that move. Maybe assasins death attack and a true srike to buff it, thus killing the big bad end guy with a tremendous leap to my own death... That would be a good way to go =). Anyways, according to RAW, it doesn't work that way I quess. I could jump and if I survive the drop, I can hit something when I've reached the ground.

Now I'm standing on a cliff and there is this critter flying outside of my reach bombing me with fireballs or something. I really REALLY want to be able to jump of a cliff, hit an annoying critter flying in the air with my huge axe and live to tell about it, maybe with some help from feather fall afterwards. But nope. They wont let me do it. Or maybe jump towards him, grapple him in the air and fall with him to a certain death, that would be nice too.

:o
Nice mastering. Maybe I should make a few balance checks for walking and a couple of good ol' concentration checks to sleep a little.

I contacted Paizo about the copyright issues with the logo, and here is the reply:

"we don't mind our customers using the Pathfinder logo for their character sheets as long as a) they place the following legal text on each page on the bottom "Pathfinder and the Pathfinder logo are trademarked and copyrighted by Paizo Publishing LLC and are used with permission." and b) that nobody using the Pathfinder logo or name sells those sheets for monetary gain."

So here is link to my Pathfinder sheet with proper legal text:
Pathfinder sheet, rise of the runelords

Are these with numbers, or with dots?

Your mail address doesn't seem to work, it says it doesn't exist. I was going to ask if stealth really isn't usable as untrained in your campaign, or is it a typo?

MM, dice and current pathfinder or gamemastery module. Also beer if it's weekend.

I'm glad you liked it! Give me your modified skill-list and your e-mail address, I can do it for you =). Do you want me to include the spell and companion sections in it too?

What he said.

Yeah, that's right. I'm sorry but it's quite difficult to try to explain technical issues when I'm not a native speaker =). But yea, like you said.

The cohort/mount/companion pages are usually a little clunky in every sheet I've seen, but they are so necessary. Don't sweat it. I think they look great and I will be using them for a long time to come.
Thank you so much for putting the effort in and working so hard at this.

FH

No problem! It's worth the effort if someone uses it =).

sykoholic wrote:

Every so often, when I Copy/Paste a map, the image doesn't include any of the map's text such as location names and identifiers.

Yes, that' because the map is pixel graphic and the texts are vector graphics. If they embed the texts into the picture, the text becomes a little blurry, because of the anti-aliasing. So the texts aren't on different layer in the image, they are not in the image at all. Or this is how I think it is.

Fake Healer wrote:

page of magic item locations you could do 1/2 with magic items and 1/2 for henchmen, animal companions, familiars.

Hm, I made the spell section bigger and added page for magic items and animal companion etc. Now the character sheet is two double-sided foldable pages. I think the magic-section is acceptable, but the other side with the magic items and companions is not so good. It's like it has some random boxes just thrown to the sheet. You know, like the first page is combat and skills, all the sections belong there. Next page is feats, features, experience, levels, information about character, etc. I think all of those fit in there as well. Then there is obvious spell section. But the final page is magic items and companions. Any thoughts? Anyway, if that's something you need, I've uploaded it with different name.

Pathfinder sheet with spells and companions

Heh, thanks. I don't think Paizo would be very interested in my sheet, but a very nice thought anyway! =)

I have one design where I have a place for familiar. It's very similar design so I could just paste it from there. Personally I think that a section to keep track of magic items is kind of waste of space, because it often just duplicates information from possessions. Same with a box for armor, which is found in sheets from WotC. It duplicates information already found on sheet, only max. dex doesn't exist anywhere. But I think max.dex is something you really don't have to have written in sheet. Ok, I got little off-track there, but if magic item-section is something you like, I will put it there =). I think it will work fine, because you still don't need to print the other page, if you don't want to. My initial reason for this kind of design was that it would fit in one page (foldable) and take little room in table. But yea, I actually need a space for familiar soon, so I'll start making another page. Sunday is always a good day for this kind of thing.

Well, in Adobe Reader (I'm using 8.1.1) under Edit > Preferences > General > Basic Tools you can select Use fixed resolution for Snapshot tool images, which will then allow you to set a fixed resolution when using the tool. Personally I have it set to 420 pixels/inch, which is enough for my needs.

That is true. It still doesn't allow to have greater resolution than in the original image, and it still just copies what shows in your monitor, so I think it gets you worse results than in copying the actual original image. Of course that still might be a better way to do it in windows-based Acrobat, 'cause you don't get the black background. So yeah, good notice =).

Traken wrote:

Try right-clicking the object and "Save as..." It should give you an option to save as .tiff.

edit: Note - You have to select the object first.

edit2: Okay, it saves it as a .tiff, but still has no alpha layer. It does make the alpha layer white instead of black, which is preferable at times.

And that option is only available in Acrobat professional, not reader. I find this very interesting, especially if this happens just because OS doesn't support it. I'd like to see a tiff-image extracted from pdf in mac...

Vic Wertz wrote:

Have you tried dragging directly from Reader to an open-but-empty Photoshop document?

Yes, it also has a black background. I think I'll have to look in to this some more, but seems that there's no easy way of copying the art in windows. Acrobat professional does the trick better, because there is also save image option, which doesn't include alpha channel either, but the background is white.

Oh, and if you are using Photoshop, you can just open a pdf-file, choose select:images and pick the image you want. It opens with transparency and everything. That still doesn't solve the problem for non-photoshop users with windows...

Vic Wertz wrote:

I just opened one of our PDFs (with Adobe Reader 8.1.1 for Mac OS X), selected an image with transparency, and dragged it to my Desktop. The result was a TIFF file with an alpha channel.

I tried to drag and drop in windows (from player's guide again) and the result was jpeg with black background. I know that it's not possible to include alpha channel in jpeg, but it's sad that Windows somehow decides to change it to jpeg. In other words I think that in Windows, the drag&drop is actually same as copy&paste, while in OSx drag&drop duplicates the actual image file. I'm so going to get rid of Windows and buy a Mac.

Hm, if the image looks right, but there is a black background, I would quess that they are using mask overlays (alpha channels) with the pictures. It means that there is another, invisible color channel in black & white, which tells the image what portions of it should be transparent. If you copy the image and paste it into another software, and the background is black, I'd think that the selection tool of acrobat doesn't copy the alpha channel correctly. In other words I would think the problem is not with other softwares understanding transparency, but in acrobat's selection tool itself. I downloaded the player's guide and tried to copy & paste a picture to Adobe Photoshop, and it indeed has black background. I think Photoshop should be combatible with acrobat quite well, so I would quess that the selection tool just isn't meant to copy pictures with transparency... Haven't tried in other software, or Photoshop in mackintosh, so I might be totally wrong too...

OH you mean THAT gazetteer... Yep. Not confused anymore.

Well it looks quite nice place in the ground level, but I wouldn't go flying around there with all those dragons, imps, lightnings and all...

Well, why do it next week when you can do it today. I'm not sure if this is what you were after with the spell section, but I tried to make it work for all kind of casters. It's really generic in other words, like the rest of the sheet.

I also made my own background art, so I'm (maybe) violating copyrights only with the usage of the Pathfinder-logo, like the rest of these sheets. I'm not sure if the skills section has too much background behind it, comments would be helpful.

Oh, I also made a second one, where I changed the colors and the title to match the next adveture path =)

Of course. Haven't seen your spreadsheet, so don't know how much stuff you managed to put in it. I've been thinking something like 8 x 6 inches or so for the size. I'm going to try to put the same background art as in my character sheets, but it just might be impossible. =)

Wow. Reading these posts really shows that she's one open-minded girl...

Yeah, made him sickened and everything, wiped them all out =). Happily this was a one shot game with people I don't get to play with so often. In my actual campaign the players were much smarter, they searched the ring and were sooooo kind to ol' giant. Just love this encounter. Best random encounter EVER.

Guide to Darkmoon Vale

Yup. But I'm just a bit confused about that whole plus a gazetteer plus a guide thing going on.

This is the best character sheet I have seen in a while. I love portrait-style sheets, print the 2 pages on one sheet, fold into a booklet and there you go easy as pie. The only thing I would suggest too make it even better is a matching blank spellbook with different areas for different level spells that can be inserted into the booklet and stapled together.
Great Job Salama! I will be requiring usage by my players for my Pathfinder games, probably with an option for players to choose between yours and Tamago's sheets (which are also awesome!).
Thanks to both Salama and Tamago for some excellent sheets.

Thank you! Good to hear you like it. I've been thinking about the spell-section. Do you mean that it would also be foldable (same size), or just one paper by the size of one "page" of the sheet? I think I'll do the spell book next week, so if you have some more suggestions/wishes, I'd be glad to hear them!

I found player's guide to Ptolus, which had landscape-format sheet in it. First one I have seen.
