This reminds me, did Jeva survive in anyone's game? In my campaign, they didn't find out what she was, so I'm going to put her in Carnival of Tears, as hinted there. I'm thinking that she is caged in carnival grounds and asking players help to free her. Of course they will find out what she is, but maybe they will free her anyway. I'm curious if anyone else has the same situation, and what are you going to do with it. Oh, I also started this with another group, mixing this and Hollows last hope together, but they didn't survive in the forest. Cauldron took one, dragon-thingie in the tree another and the rest of them were foolish and engaded to battle with the drunken hill giant... End of story =). In my games Shayliss made her move against dwarven character. My players were a bit confused at first, but then they thought that maybe just anything goes for that girl. Spoiler:
I also changed the murder victim in skinsaw murders from Katherine(?) to Shayliss. The dwarf was actually little bummed about that =) Mary Yamato wrote: I don't think I can run this. Can you be more specific why you cannot run it? My thoughts on D&D is that it's playable to 15th level, then things get bit more complicated. This campaign goes to 15th, so I think it's okay for me. I did run the whole Age of worms and it was a pain in the ass after 15th, but still possible to run. My player's made an agreement with Oakbrow that they wouldn't take resources from more than two places. One of them is also druid and he didn't like the idea that the vale is going to be turned to mining- and lumber community. Of course there is plenty to do in the vale after the adventure, but I'm afraid my players want something bigger after Vardak's defeat than just managing the fort and the vale. Of course we have already had wilderness adventure and been defending the vale for four sessions, so maybe it's time to move on for us. I have exactly same situation as you do (within the game=). I don't have time to develop adventures in bloodsworn vale, so I'm throwing them back to Falcon's Hollow (where they started) for some Carnival of Tears. I think I'm going to kill the king of Korvosa, and when the queen has rule, she will take over fort Thorn and players are forced to leave. Or something. I'm also considering to run Gallery of evil, which would be more suitable for their level (8th). But I have no idea how they would end up in Absalom, so Carnival of tears it will be. But anyway, I would also be interested what people come up with for this... Hm, in my Gamemastery module campaign last night one of the players died in unfortunate critical from flame drake. I throw the dice in front of everyone, so I couldn't fudge the dice. The player had also died in last session and had just leveled up back to level six. So it's back to level five with him. Maybe it's good that those huge criticals are gone... I'm just saying maybe. Matthew Morris wrote: Well Salama, I'm Finnished trying to learn languages, I apparently have a block. Can't even learn Spanish for booting up cold!. Well, I think I'll also stick with trying to make my english understandable =). I haven't actually used craft or profession very much in my games, but this thread has some good ideas and I think I'm going to use some of them in my next campaign. Maybe there are some good professions for Curse of the crimson throne that player's would like to take... The Jade wrote:
You're one talented guy. I spend a month in there TRYING to learn the language even a little bit, and learned only to say hi and ask for beer. And the language is even supposed to be close to finnish... Sarcasm aside, I'm not offended by the book. I don't get furious about some sentence where they tell me how to play. I actually find it quite hilarious how they are trying to sell their product to me. I haven't played 3.5 edition from the beginning, but I like it. I'm still willing to try a new game. Same thing with campaign settings. I love Greyhawk, and was sad when Dungeon and Dragon got cancelled (in print). Now I'm playing Pathfinder, and was willing to make the change. Paizo sold it to me easily. Their marketing is quite good I think. None of the previews for Pathfinder told me that all the other campaign settings suck and that I can't have fun playing them. There wasn't any talk about how I should buy Pathfinder #2, 'cause there is a prestige class which finally let's me play the character I've always wanted. I'm not offended by anything WotC has said, but they also haven't sold their game to me with that kind of marketing. Sarcasm seems to be popular, let's go with it: Haven't read the whole book, but looking at it in my FLGS, I've already found lot of things lacking in my games. Of course my games have not been any fun because of few annoying and useless skills, but I haven't even been able to play the character I wanted to play. According to Races&Classes, this is going to finally change with paths and destinies. "New ones like the weapon master, prince of knaves and cavalier will let you play the character you've really wanted to be all this time. You want to be Robin Hood? No problem". Whew, finally. Oh, I didn't notice Lilith's sheet until now. Interesting choices you made with that one. I like the idea of using the stat block format in sheet. I like the order of things, with init, senses and attacks on the other side, and AC and Hp on the other. Only the languages seem a bit out of place there. Good job anyway, hope you don't mind if I steal some of your ideas =). Yes, I just thought that because I also used background art from the RotRL player's guide, I might just gone too far =).
Hm, not entirely sure if I can post this here, but most of these are using Pathfinder-logo at least so... Anyway, if this one violates too many copyrights, feel free to delete this post =). The sheet itself is very simple, I made it for a melee character, so there is no room for spells etc. I'm planning to make another page for the sheet, so those who need room for spells, animal companions etc. can print that page too. But it's still in the making. Anyway, here it is:
Never tried cthulhu d20. What I could use is an improvement to my old 4th edition CoC book (with terrible finnish translation). Have you read 6th edition? Is there really any changes, or is it the same game in a different package? Maybe I should've posted this in the product discussion of the particular book, but what the heck. Also skimmed it through. Lots of decent art, although I didn't like any of the pictures including heavy armor, reminded me too much of warhammer miniatures. Also the dwarven weaponry was quite ridiculous, but most of the art was quite good. I also looked through some of the chapters, but then I got bored. I was interested to see something about dragonborns, but there was lots of talk about some empire of Arkhosia and Bael Thurath. I think they had something to do with tieflings and some war. There was very little talk about things that replace prestige classes. Just that everyone chooses a path at 11th level and a destiny at 21th level, you still advance normally in your class. There was a mention that now we can play the character we've always wanted to play. Robin Hood was brought up as an example. I finished my Age of Worms campaign a few months ago, and we're halfway through Skinsaw murders in Rise of the Runelords. We all enjoyed Age of worms, but there was very little actual roleplaying. I think Runelords have lots of opportunities for roleplaying, our first session of Burnt offerings (about 6 hours) didn't involve any combat besides the goblin raid. Of course this might turn into more hack&slash in Hook mountain massacre and the rest of the campaign, but so far I'm liking it lot more than AoW. AoW was also good, but this one has a lot more room to play as written. Also in the Age of Worms the most hack&slash happened after level 15, where this one doesn't go. Hm, a fey war sounds actually quite good. My players were a bit lost when I took them away from Falcon's hollow and into the Bloodsworn vale. It has been at least four months when their characters left Falcon's hollow, so returning there now and realizing things have changed for even worse sounds like a good scenario. I also have a druid in the party who already in Kobold king wanted to show some justice to the lumberjacks... Now all I need is the module to show up in my FLGS =). Mm, yes of course. Unfortunately it's not available through youtube, so you'd have to download the movie to your computer (which of course is in better quality). Here is the direct download link (65mb):
You also need a xvid-codec to play the movie (ffdshow, i think). Anyway, this one is shot in 16mm film and actually does have english subtitles =). I thought I might just share this one with you. a couple of years ago I made a barbarian movie, which we shot with 8mm film. The picture is quite blurry (because of 8mm and youtube's poor quality), but I hope the influences of Conan and D&D are still visible. Unfortunately there are no subtitles in youtube-version (it's in finnish), but I think the plot is still understandable =). I hope some of you give it a shot! http://youtube.com/watch?v=vQbHzBVQxec (warning: R-rated) Yes. Unfortunately my players are already way past 5th level (going through Conquest of the bloodsworn vale), so I think I have to modify the adventure for a bit higher level adventurers. Sweet part is that I'm able to include some of the campaign seeds at the end of the Kobold king, to make things even more desperate. Biggest problem is that I'm not sure if my players want to save Falcon's hollow anymore, they might just join the other side =). Yep, it seems logical that if I trip someone while she's standing up, she doesn't. I'm just glad the rules say otherwise, so I don't have to argue with my players about opening that particular can of worms... This black monk seems to be a weird fellow (no legs?). Can't wait to have this issue in my hands. Well my opinion on this matter is based on the all about attack of opportunity-article from wizards. The writer says that "If someone tries something that provokes an attack of opportunity, the attack of opportunity happens first", so I thought that it happens when she's still prone. More specific: "Resolve an attack of opportunity before you resolve the action that triggered it, not after. Sometimes, the attack of opportunity will prevent the triggering action (such as when the attack of opportunity proves lethal to a moving character). If someone tries something that provokes an attack of opportunity, the attack of opportunity happens first" Sorry, didn't intend to threadjack this one because of some silly rules (although this is a gm reference thread) =). I don't think that you need to houserule this one. AoO is a single melee attack, I don't see why you could'nt make a trip attack, which is a melee attack. But if someone is already prone and tries to stand up, you cannot make a trip attack as an attack of opportunity against her, since she is already prone.
