Runzyl's tension abates, his lips turning up in a smile of genuine goodwill as he relaxes the grip on his burning blade, stowing it in the sheath upon his back and extends his hand to shake the woman's. "You fight with honor and conviction. I am pleased that we need not be enemies," the Valenar says evenly. He looks to Rodergo and nods, then looks back to her. "An excellent blow." Hooray for awkward Klingon-elves! Aubrey the Demented/Malformed wrote: OK, please clarify if you have missed and where you end up. I'm saying you don't get to use spring attack with a flying leap across a yawning void. I'm landing in R13 and attacking, then. I rolled a 27 on the miss chance. Is high or low what hits? I'm staying in R13 if I can't Spring Attack. Made the Balance check. Runzyl steadies himself as the ship lurches, then immediately rushes headlong at Rodergo's attacker (move to S12, 25' of movement). He delivers a savage blow to the woman's backside (attack roll: 16 + 14 = 30; damage: 16) then immediately cuts in front of her to stand alongside the cleric, seething with barely-contained rage. (Move to R13, then Q12, using another 15' of movement but avoiding AoOs thanks to Spring Attack.) As the skytruck pulls up to the airship, Runzyl glances at Lightbringer for a moment, seeming to pause as though waiting for some order regarding the fate of the crewmen. The moment passes, though, and in the blink of an eye the Valenar takes a flying leap onto the airship, his wicked blades following in his wake. I'm assuming the crewmen are armed. If not, then Runzyl would not normally just randomly attack them. The elf bolts forward at the nearest crewman and delivers a devastating slice before stepping to the side to permit his allies a clear shot. Moving to V12 to Spring Attack the crewman in V11. Jump check: 11 + 14 = 25. Attack roll: 7 + 14 = 21. Damage: 1 + 6 + 10 = 17. Move to X12 (Spring Attack) after the hit. Should be only 30' of movement, and my speed is 40, so we're good. Trackers: Spoiler:
"Or a red wyrm scale," Runzyl says flatly. "I think a dragon would've been noticed though. If our quarry has the power of flight at their behest... this will be most difficult indeed." The elf scratches his chin in thought for a moment, then shrugs. "We should ask Lightbringer if he knows of any flying warforged types. If this is Darkheart's doing, then it is possible he has access to such things. If the Cannith woman is to blame... well... it could be anything." Runzyl seems indecisive for a moment, furrowing his brow and looking to Lightbringer, then to the door, and finally nods and follows Janosz outside when he goes to examine the tracks. I have the Track feat, but no ranks in Survival. Can I still try to Aid Another for an additional +2 with a WIS check? I rolled a 9 anyway, so I think it's moot. But it'd be nice to know for the future. Runzyl stays silent through the deliberations, seeming somewhat impatient as he paces back and forth. His eyes glance around, as though inspecting the very premises like an inquisitive, and he coolly assesses the abbess and her entourage. Something felt wrong to him, and he sensed there was more at stake than was readily apparent. Can I get a Sense Motive check on the abbess to see if something else is on her mind or if she seems.. um... unnecessarily standoffish? Runzyl's not entirely convinced that she's on the up-and-up. Sense Motive: 12 + 0 = 12. Lightbringer wrote: After hearing about Runzy’s charge on Darkheart, Lightbringer confronts the Valenar warrior. “What you did was foolish,” he says. “But I am glad you saved me, even at the risk of your own life. I expect nothing less from you – your sense of honour is different to my own, but it is great and true nonetheless – but still I must thank you. I hope I can repay this debt someday.” "I know very little of your kind yet, Lightbringer, but your words and deeds speak loudly for the strength of your soul. Your kind have walked this world for only a scant few years I am given to understand. I have seen the turn of centuries. My ancestors await me in death and I intend to be received well by them. To fall in battle in the aid of a friend and blade-brother is perhaps the greatest honor I could hope to attain," the Valenar smiles, clapping a hand on the warforged's shoulder. "If you wish to repay me, then see to it that I survive long enough to die a truly glorious death. I wish for nothing else in this world." Runzyl stands after Darkheart's disappearance, whipping his head left and right for any sign of the warforged but seeing none. The battle rage falling away, Runzyl drops his weapon (the first time you've ever seen the weapon leave his hands, I'm pretty sure, not counting when he sheathes it) and balls his fists in anger. "Nadorhuan,*" the elf murmurs before turning to check Lightbringer's condition. A look of genuine concern moves across his features and the Valenar smiles as Ezreal rouses him to consciousness with his magics. Runzyl takes up his blade again, kneeling over the charger he felled, and says a short elven prayer, holding the weapon reverently at eye level in front of him the entire time. "These were worthy foes," he says to no one in particular. "Much glory was had today, save the disgrace of their cowardly leader. Rejoice, friends, for we live another day." *Elven: Spoiler:
"Coward." So my initiative is now 14, effectively? I will take my action now. Rising like a frenzied wolverine as the cleric's healing magics wash over him, Runzyl snaps his blades out at Darkheart's legs from the ground. Attacks: 12, 13, 27, 24, 3, 2. Two possible hits, one possible crit. Crit confirm: 18. Probably not good enough. Damage for the two (possible) hits: 16, 11. At the beginning of my next action, the Whirling Frenzy will end. Rodergo Xativa wrote: Duods...my map is MIA....on my turn, can somebody tell me the best place to stand next to Runzyl so as to heal him? My daughter probably disappeared my brand new graph paper notebook this morning, and I had to get to work. I thought you had Divine Ward and could do healing at range? Aubrey the Demented/Malformed wrote: By the way - very cool move from Runzyl. High risk, but stylish. Totally surprised me and Darkheart. Yeah, I was expecting to pay the price for it. Runzyl's at -8 now, or -10 if we don't still benefit from LB's 2 DR. Also, you were aware that my AC was 24, right? And my touch AC was 19 at the time? Just trying to make sure I'm actually screwed right and proper here. :) His fiery fist-blast trick didn't provoke an AoO, did it? Because, as part of the Bull Rush, I moved to D21, which threatens him in C22. Runzyl face quickly darkens into a scowl. "Lightbringer has taught me much in my time with him, and one of those things is honor and duty. It is his wish to protect the artificer, with his life if necessary, and so I say, if warforged indeed have souls, then his should be rightly received by his ancestors!" The elf hesitates no further and bolts forward, his already impressive speed amplified by Ezreal's spell... Even though init is suspended, Runzyl will bull rush Darkheart (which provokes an AoO), hoping to take him off-guard because I'm guessing he thought Runzyl actually had like... compassion or something. If Lightbringer gets killed, Runzyl's prepared to deal with that, since to die in the line of battle is the greatest honor someone can receive in his society. Runzyl is actually trying to save him, however, as the bull rush should knock Darkheart well away from LB, giving Rod time to heal him. Bull Rush result: 19 + 6(STR) + 2(charging) + 4(AP) = 31. EAT IT! Mothman, you have my apologies if this doesn't work. If the tables are ever turned, I'd expect you to do the same for me. Runzyl stands with a gruff nod of thanks to the priest. He then steps forward and calls out to Darkheart. "Three of your men couldn't stop me, warforged. My flesh is greater than your steel," the Valenar spits on the shredded charger and grins. Standing as a move action, 5' step to H18. If I can, I'd like to declare full defensive with my standard action for the round, but if the 5' step can't be done otherwise, it's more important to block Darkheart's path to Rod than get the AC bonus. Also, Darkheart is my Dodge target. Heathy, I can still soak up a lot of healing, so lay it on me if you've got it. :) Frenzy - Round 3 of 6. Feeling his injuries growing severe, Runzyl gains his focus and delivers a series of precision strikes from the ground at the charger that looms above him. Here we go: 25, 19, 26, 21, 20, 9. 3 critical threats. Confirmations: 21, 8, 7. One possible confirmation, 5 possible hits (I have no idea what it's AC is, but the totals above DO factor in the -4 for being prone). Damages: 9 (17 if crit), 9, 13, 10, 4. My AoO only hit a 14, so it's probably miss. My rolls are sucking ass... Runzyl ferociously tries to defend himself from his position on the ground, knowing that to stand would be suicide. His blades lash out in all directions, but his lack of focus prevents him from causing any lasting harm. Out of 6 attacks, the highest one was a 22. So, if that one hits, the charger takes 9 damage. The next highest attack was a 15, so I'm pretty sure everything else misses. Also, only 14 HP left. These guys hurt! No sooner has the elf heard the crossbow fired as he is off like a bolt, bringing his weapon to bear on the centaur-like warforged, and just as deftly leaping back away. FWIW, I declared that I had dismounted as soon as we walked up:

He already knew how this was going to go, but he would give the paladin the benefit of the doubt, as they had agreed to do so many weeks ago in Sharn when faced by the Cyran refugees... Runzyl will begin in I17 with his mount in J-K/17-18. Move to E17, Spring Attack the centaur-forged: 14 + 11 = 25. Damage: 14 damage (3 of which is fire damage, if it matters). Then move back to I17 and sneer. Spot: 13 + 2 = 15. Runzyl, being amongst those at the front of the group, casually dismounts and brings his weapon to hand, glancing at Lightbringer expectantly. He already knew how this was going to go, but he would give the paladin the benefit of the doubt, as they had agreed to do so many weeks ago in Sharn when faced by the Cyran refugees... Runzyl, now surrounded by targets, launches into another flurry of attacks, screaming with rage as the blades dance at impossible speeds around him. Attack totals: 25, 30!, 28!, 20, 7, 10. Three hits, two of which are crits (auto-confirmed by bless weapon). Hit #1: 16 damage. #2 - 24 damage. #3 - 24 damage. All of these are directed at ogre 2, but if he falls, the remaining attacks target ogre 3. Runzyl, hearing the death throes of the barghest, launches himself into a frenzy, lashing out at the ogres in his vicinity like a hurricane of death. Activate whirling frenzy, full attack action w/haste on Ogre 2. Attack roll totals: 12, 26, 27, 20, 16, 10. Three possible hits. Damages: 14, 16, 16. If any of those attacks drop the first target, 5' step to L40 and continue the attacks on Ogre 3. Nonscouts: Spoiler:
Runzyl steps just off the path to engage the ogre, hastened by Ezreal's spell, and launches a flurry of slashes. 5' step to O39. Full attack on Ogre 7: Attack rolls (total): 11, 18, 24, 6, 22. 3 possible hits. Damages: 15, 17, 7. The last hit was an off-hand. I have not activated Whirling Frenzy yet. :) Nonscouts: Spoiler:
Runzyl grins and produces a vial from his pouch, smearing the contents all over his wickedly curved blades. They pulse with energy for a moment, then fade back to normal. He taunts the barghest, motioning for it to approach. Move action to draw the vial, standard action to apply my oil of bless weapon. Nonscouts: Spoiler:
Will save: 10 + 2 + 5(AP) = 17. I was sweating there for a minute! Runzyl staggers from the enchantment, knowing that this creature was his foe but beginning to question his own senses. Finally, with a gruff shake of his head, the warrior instinct prevailed and he glared at the barghest with renewed fervor. Non-scouts: Spoiler:
Runzyl surges forward, nearly knocking Rodergo and Lightbringer to the ground as he leaps into the face of the approaching ogre and delivers a hard slash across it's gut. Then, mockingly, he continues down the path and veers towards the barghest with a sadistic grin on his face. Spring Attacking Ogre 5. Move to Q34, attack: 16 + 11 = 27; damage: 5 + 7 + 5(flaming) + 2(favored enemy) = 19, then move to O38 (avoiding P36, which is threatened by Ogre 6).
