Calderis:
Spoiler:
You push men and women past, as you speed for the closest exit. As you run you hear cries of shock as people begin to react to what has just happened. You head to the southern entrance of Menske, and find yourself in the middle of caravan headed out of the city. One man watches you approach, and yells "Hey buddy, jump in here!" pointing to the covered cart next to him. Hranos:
Spoiler:
Here they are NOTES: Treepuller: The driver leads the elemental along on a rope. The two supporters have "threadbenders" which are basically staffs that emit pulses of magic when they come in contact with something. These are used to control the elemental. Iron chains attached to the elemental's arms pull the lumber transport. Treemauler: Two drivers are on top of a riding block, located at the base of the neck of the elemental. Each hold one rope, used to control the arms. When the driver to the left pulls his rope, he can manipulate the elemental into turning left, pulling up that arm, etc. The two drivers must work in harmony for this to be successful. Bodan:
Spoiler:
The captain shrugs, too dull to understand the gist of the speech. He leaves, attending to his steering wheel. Calderis:
Spoiler:
Your spell begins, and both guards and a few civilians immediately drop to the ground. As this occurs, there are gasps from the crowd around you.
What next? Hranos:
Spoiler:
"Ah, you know, the governor has some crazy ideas. He might be doing it to rid us from the elves. He has had a prejudice against them ever since them dwarves discovered those black elves. It might be so that he can have more leverage over the rest if Azemja, but whatever it is, you can bet it is because that man is greedy. Anyway, a treepuller? Has three men: one to steer, and two for safety. They have two because of the danger." Hranos:
Spoiler:
Oh, yeah, I'm old hat at this stuff. I been here for two and a half years now. The elves? That's what you're worried about!?" He throws back his head and laughs,"That's the least of your troubles here. I heard you gonna be working with them treemaulers. You better hope you can work it out. Or if that doesn't get you, maybe the creepy crawlies of the night will. The reason you're here is because we lost Santos last week to a giant spider." He becomes serious. "But you must be wondering; How did ol' Eldon survive so long? Because of this." He points to his head. "You gotta be smart out here. If the boss is looking for extra work. Doesn't matter how much he will pay ya to do it, pass. The last thing you need to do is be caught out there by yourself. Also, you don't want any enemies out here. I learned that the hard way. One man, Avery thought I was too chipper to be working out here. Almost got us both killed when he messed with a treepuller. Now he's dead, and Eldon still be here. You stick close to me and everything will be alright."
You begin to notice that Eldon avoids the topic of elves. Calderis:
Spoiler:
"This shorty here claims that you just took some money off of him. Why don't you come with us, real easy-like, okay?" Says the bigger of the two guards. The other circles around behind you, as citizens begin to stare. You feel the hands of the smaller guard clamp down around your own, and you are being pushed through the crowd of spectators. Bo-Dan:
Spoiler:
Currently, Bo-Dan is on a skyship, which is heading away from the Skargar Islands, and towards the capital of Menske. She has her own personal quarters, with a bed, closet, and dining table. The deck of the skyship has a giant hole in the middle, where a tornado seems to be whirling around. This is the air elemental that powers the ship. As you walk onto the deck, you are approached by the captain. "What be ye doin' on this here flight, lassie? Shouldn't ye be workin' on trainin' as a monk?" The gnome asks. He smirks, "Or, ye could be headin' for the Green Forest, eh? Want to destroy a beautiful forest?" Hranos:
Spoiler:
Hranos is at the lumber camp next to the Green Forest. He has just registered as a worker, and begins work tomorrow. He has been assigned to work a treemauler, which is a giant machine that chops down trees, and is powered by a Large Earth Elemental. A small halfling approaches you at your tent. "Hey man, you look down on your luck. Don't worry about it, we all are, that's why were here." He smiles."I'm Eldon. I can help you out around here if you want." Calderis:
Spoiler:
Calderis is in the market place of Menske. He owns a small, one-person house down the street. He stands in front of the "local post" a messageboard in the middle of town. One note reads "join the masses, build the road" (work on the Great Combonation Road), another "become a royal deckhand" (work the skyships), and yet another "bartender needed". With all the tough times Calderis is not sure where is future will lead him. He wonders, should he take a new job and travel the world or continue work as on the streets of Menske? As you think, you are approached by a fast-walking halfling, he bumps into you, and begins to yell: "Thief! Thief! This man has stolen my belongings! Guards! Help!" Guards rush from across the market, charging directly at you. Celedor:
Spoiler:
You have been given a squad of five elven rangers, and sent by your superior to raid an encampment of humans attempting to destroy the Green Forest. Currently, it is dusk, and you should begin your strike when the moon reaches its highest in the sky. Looks like Bo-Dan, Calderis, and Hranos are completely ready. When Celedor has a background we can begin. By the way, you are all starting in different places (as it seems by your backstories), so I will plan the adventure for you to eventually meet. I will post "Not A Chance In Hell" under PlaybyPost. Lower Class: 10% of Azemja
Middle Class: 75% of Azemja
Upper Class: 15% of Azemja
FAQ Answered: Yes there are more rich than poor people across Azemja. This is because of the dwarven and elven cities. They have low "poor people" rates. For example, an elven city might have 1% poor, 70% middle, 29% rich, while a human city would have 30% poor, 75% middle, 5% rich. The use of elementals has been going on for ages. Like in our world, when the Europeans discovered horses as an aid for transportation, the people of Azemja have been using elementals as long as anyone can remember. Only earth elementals can be used for farming, and in the same way they pull carts, they also can pull farming equipment. Not only the rich use elementals. The middle class can also afford the use of elementals. The lower class farm workers gain access to elementals due to a feudal system. By giving some of the profit of the land they work to the rich, the rich supply the farmers with elementals. 3.5 fanman wrote:
Thank you for the compliment, but I have seen many others attempt to publish works right now (pretty good ones, too), and have been denied, because Paizo is busy with Pathfinder. Oh well By the way, I have the map. It's not one of those amazing Dundjinni maps, for I have no software. Instead it is a hand-drawn. Hope you can read it and use it. I would like a detailed background story from each of you. Use the geography and knowledge that I gave you. Also, feel free to look at the other members spoilers. I just added the spoilers to save us from another wall of text. Characters
Spoiler:
You most likely grew up in Forlate, deep inside the Green Forest. You may have been born into a rich family, causing you to have the priveledge of being trained as a druid. When you were skilled enough, you may have been given a troop of fellow elves, and sent to defend the Green Forest from invading humans, attempting to cut down the trees in clearance of a road. The attack may have gone awry, leaving you abandoned and lost in the world outside of the forest. Monk - Khaladon
Spoiler:
There is an order of monks on one of the five islands to the northwest. They train in the sacred city of Fem. You may have grown up in a monastery in the city, and learned your skills as a monk. When skilled enough, you may have left in, to search the rest of the world. Human Fighter and Human Wizard - Bill and 3.5 fan
Spoiler:
Have fun with your backstory. You may have been born in the capital of Menske, and set out to fight the elves. You may have grown up a sailor along the coast. Humans in this land can basically adapt to any culture or background, so for all I care, you could be a human who grew up in the dwarven mines, moved to Menske as a spy for the elves, but intsead left to find his real goal: making houses. All I ask is you make it interesting! By the way, I should have a map ready soon Sorry, I forgot Elementals
Druids
which reminds me... Magic's Structure (This is confusing. Bear with me.)
Elven Information Only:
Spoiler:
You know that a fourth loom is located in the city of Forlate NOTE: any spellcaster can summon an elemental. Druids are usually the ones who do it. Sorry for any confusion Gods
Religion in General
Same as any other campaign. Swords, bows, carts, etc. The only different technology is the use of elementals for transport. This also gives them the use of sky ships. These boats are powered by air elementals. The bigger the ship, the more elementals required. If you were to kill the elemental though, the ship would "sink". ouch... Currently, the dwarves are working with gnome alchemists in an attempt to create a new and stronger metal, but nothing has been produced yet. That's about it on the technology front. Ten years ago in NeVeliki, dwarves broke through a hole in one of their mining tunnels. They ignored it, and continued working, but soon, Drow began to raid the camp. After blocking off the hole, the dwarves thought that the trouble was over, but they were wrong. Just a few weeks ago, Drow scouts have breached another hole, and NeVeliki has been receiving even stronger attacks than last time. The humans Geography

Overall Geography To the north of Azemja are the Jemar Mountains. To the southeast is the Gren Forest. To the south is another mountain range, the Stumfyr, which is unpopulated, except for the town of Sorlij, which lies to the very south of the range. Two rivers pass through Azemja. The first is the Bredvan River. The longer of the two, as it reaches the capitol of Menske, it splits into the North Bredvan River, and the Southern Bredvan River. The latter of the two passes through the Gren Forest. The second river is the Liten River, which cuts into Azemja from the west, passes the town of Sted, and cuts back out at the brink of the Gren Forest, at the Liten Delta. There are a group of five islands to the northwest of Azemja, known as the Skargar Islands. This is where many monks learn their skill, in the sacred city of Fem. I will post a map ASAP The World of Azemja Azemja is one, giant land, surrounded by water, with islands to the northwest. Azemja works differently than other worlds because: -Everything is powered by elementals. Druids of higher levels use elementals to move everything. Boats use water elementals, sky ships use air elementals, carts are pushed by earth elementals, and the dwarfs’ even use fire elementals to power their forges. -Elves and humans do not get along at the moment. Humans are trying to tear down a path through the trees of the elven forest of Gern. (see below under elves geography) This has caused tensions between the two groups. -The drow are a newly discovered race by the above ground living. The only contact with drow that this world has had is through the dwarves mining expeditions (see below under dwarves current affairs). This leads to the racial term “black elves” which the other elves hate just as much as their underground brothers. -The smaller races, halflings and gnomes, are the most uncommon in the land of Azemja. The majority of them are found in the coastal city of Vann (see below small folk geography) -Dragons really are just myths. There are no dragons in Azemja, which also means no half-dragons, kobolds, dragonspawn, draconic gods, and the like. Alright, Bill has his character ready, and it looks like Dave is halfway there. 3.5 fan and Bo Dan, go ahead with your characters, and I will make our OOC thread under PBP Discussion, and post the world we will be using. Then when all characters are ready, I will make "Rumblefish's PBP: Not a Chance in Hell" (hint towards storyline) under Play by Post section. I had a pretty intense situation, where my new friend saw my DnD things, and was asking if I really played "that game". I responded with an affirmative and told him he had three options: 1-He could tell everyone that I played DnD, and try to make a fool out of me. (which wouldn't work, because that is not a class I am willing to take levels in) 2-We could cancel our friendship, and go our seperate ways. or 3- he could just accept that I play DnD. After an awkward silence, he asked me how the game worked, and now he is a level 2 orc barbarian named Unk :) Tequila Sunrise wrote:
That's the problem I face. Usually there are awkward moments when I tell new friends about my gaming, and my close friends edge away, even though some of them are DnD addicts! I am open about being a gamer. The only problem with this is the harrassment I face in school from the football team (who really sucked this year) and company. I'm fine with it though, I don't feel like I need to lie to myself because of other people. By the way, I understand what it is like to come up with a really good DnD joke (like "I failed the Will save") and get the blank stares. I think that we as a nation should pity those less fortunate then us. I am considering starting a fund-raiser for those unfortunate souls :)
