Also, Kaltos, you're right about the plasma pistol. This was an oversight on my part (and worse, because it is something I specifically reminded myself to remember when the fight started). I could be disingenuous and say that he is alternating fire between a pair of pistols, but this is simply not true, and I know I don't need to save face over something like this with you guys. So, since it was a miss anyway, the result is moot, but in recompense, Ekubal won't be firing in round three. OK, it's probably the usual ambiguity in my posts, but Iacton has it right on this one. It is a fight to the death, one that he already appears to be overmatched in. That is not to say that Savalos' recollections and knowledge can't aid him in some way still. I just don't want poor Iacton to traipse up to the Auldmaw thinking some profound spiritual communion is going to occur when they meet and promptly have his face bitten off. Would be a crappy way to lose a character, LOL. Ellipsis wrote: Catman, dodging is a reaction, not a half-action. You get one free reaction per turn, so you still have your full action for the round. I came here to say what Ellipsis said, you still have a half action remaining for this round (move or shoot, basically) as you have used your other half action to move the crane. Happy Halloween everyone! With the kid's party and trick or treating, I'm zonked, so I'll be doing tonight's post during the day tomorrow, so, look for an update on each narrative before 3PM EST tomorrow. Sorry about the slower posting, have been busy with some home improvement stuff at night lately. There seriously aren't enough hours in the day sometimes. Now that things are wrapping up at home and in the Den I should be able to get some posts up tomorrow for Kaltos in the Geltdown Docks and Vincent, once he enacts his incendiary little plan. Kaltos Havelock wrote: Well 3 strikes and I am out. And with my luck with insanity points here come the asylum. :-) I will fit in more with this group at least. Heh, everyone has their share of psychoses in this group, Kaltos, so no worries. A liitle suspense to go though...we'll describe your particular strain of madness later today. Just be relieved you're not on the ground, heh. Balfic-graa wrote:
No problem, Bal, posting from the car dealership service waiting area so I'll keep it brief. In the downtime under the Gear Box it can be assumed that Johnnie told you that Luthos is an uncorrupted arbitrator and provided a means to contact him. In fact it is reasonable to surmise that Luthos provided Johnnie with the bulk of the intel. Will post more tonight. Lorm Dragonheart wrote: Us two playing voidborn were obviosly never meant to make that roll. There is a reason for everything, I guess. It certainly prolongs the suspense when you piece together the mystery ever so slowly. Sometimes missed clues are opportunities. Since I'm currently at work, I'll update the Geltdown Dock situation later tonight, I want to have my rulebooks handy for what is to come. Davi The Eccentric wrote: Oh, hey, Vincent might be talking with the Prisoner and, wait, his name is Ryuk? I really hope that reference was unintentional. I'm working strange hours this weekend, but should be able to post. It just might be at strange hours, like now, from work, at 5AM EST. To answer, Davi. The name is correct, and without giving too much away, it is a coincidence as far as I know, since I didn't do the particular naming here. Davi The Eccentric wrote:
Yeah, my metaphor went over like a lead balloon. Oh, wait...I should be careful lest anyone think there will be scrap-metal Ork zepplins in the game, too, LOL. Really, sometimes I get cute with my phrasing and make things murkier, no worries. Preferences noted, Bal and Davi. Don't worry Uriah, you'll have a chance to acquaint yourself with Chaos Marines at some point in the campaign. Kaltos Havelock wrote: I love the narratives and the sense of urgency or of frustration you provide the characters. In that last climb I my self felt the massive scale of what Kaltos was about to climb. I just love it! Thanks Kaltos, I'm glad you're enjoying things as well. I like making my characters/players face difficult choices, I feel it is a primary component of Dark Heresy thematically and leads to very solid roleplaying form the right group. The newcomer will be earning his stripes in the group soon enough... Lorm Dragonheart wrote: Thanks Rook. You know I have said that we have enjoyed the game over the year, and I expect to continue at its high level of gameplay. It has and will he a great game. Thanks for the kind words, Lorm. I've been very impressed with Uriah's character and your role-playing of his role as prime in this group of acolytes. He has led with a reluctant but uncompromising persona, and has really shown how resilient and capable he is by keeping the band together in the face of one of the worst first days that any Inquisitorial band has ever faced. He has yet to have a true 'spotlight' in the game so far and your patience with this as a player and the continued enthusiasm and interest you've shown is greatly appreciated. Davi misses nothing. I originally liked the name Sons of Abaddon, as in, 'Sons of the Abyss', referential to the brutal nature of the Deathwatch setting, but hadn't really done my Warhammer 40K canon research. Abaddon the Despoiler kind of nixed the choice for me. The web page url should change once wikispaces catches up. Oh, and Oremor Affliction isn't nearly done yet. The campaign has quite a ways to go yet. I'm simply considering starting up a companion campaign to run concurrently with the Oremor Affliction. Deathwatch is a pretty inspiring setting, and hell: SPACE MARINES! It is still a ways off, but I have begun the initial planning and wanted you guys to be aware of it so that those of you who wished to play (you are all invited and hold reserved places) could start considering character concepts. It is all very fluid right now, so please feel free to ask any questions you might have in this OOC. This does not give short shrift to the Oremor Affliction in any way, either, it is still my primary focus and I really just wanted to have something in the works to compliment it. Lorm Dragonheart wrote: I could not find what a ward accessor is in the rules, so could you enlighten me? A ward accessor is something that grants access to something, Lorm (like what Vincent got from the Warden-Colonel). Basically I was saying that anyone in this game has a ticket into the my next one. That last bit in the previous post was a link... Congratulations everyone on our one year anniversary for the Oremor Affliction Campaign! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their exceptional roleplaying, dedicated play, and the great imaginations you have all brought to the table to make this game a pleasure to GM. There is a lot more to come, and although my schedule with RL concerns over the last few months has slowed down my posting a bit of late, I'm fully committed to seeing this campaign through to the end. Again, thanks for coming along for the ride. As gratitude for everyone's commitment to the game, I felt an appropriate reward would be to bestow a Fate Point to each character, a reflection of the determination and resilience it has taken for each of them to reach this point in the story. May it serve you well. Just one other thing, I did mention a surprise was also on the way. I would be remiss if I didn't say you all should consider yourselves having a fully authorized ward accessor to join, if you so choose. "In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war." Kaltos Havelock wrote: I got a rules question. I looked through the rules and did not see anything about trying again other then the fate re roll which is the same action. What do you think about trying the task over? In some circumstances, Kaltos, I would allow another skill test to be attempted, with the only penalty being the additional time required to try again. But, in this case, the challenge is in understanding a fairly complex servitor activated system. Kaltos either comprehends the means to bypass the requirement for a servitor, or does not. As you said, one option is to attempt the skill test again by spending a Fate Point (I would let you reroll both tests in this case, as they are fundamentally dependent on each other). It all depends on how much you think a success on this roll plays on the current situation. I'll hold off advancing the scene until you decide which route you would like to try. Thanks for the head's up Bal. I'm on vacation this week, but have a lot of family events scheduled (anniversary, my son's birthday, my birthday) so posting might be sporadic for those days, anyway. Let's set the main goal for the coming days to determining what Iacton, Uriah, and Sav plan on doing next. I'm getting the impression that the plan to head to the Gran Pallazzar is changing. Also, we're coming up on the one year anniversary of the game, and I've been contemplating some surprises for everyone and an announcement. I'll let you know more as the week progresses. Lorm Dragonheart wrote: Rogue Traders Into the Storm is in. It is the player's Handbook. It has an expanded origin's table and weapon's list. It has the rules for a Kroot Mercenary and Shaper, and the rules for an Ork Freebooter and Commando. You can drive around a planet your exploring in a Rhino. I am jealous. Sounds cool, Lorm. I guess a Rhino does have some advantages over a velocipede-powered rickshaw. Posting from work, so I can't post much, but I just wanted to say I am really enjoying the interaction here. I'll update each of the individual scenes later tonight. To answer Uriah's question, he suspects that the feather is in some way associated with the Eviscerator, but Iacton's revelation has now confirmed it. Balfic-graa wrote:
I know, gimping his leg or winging him might have served your purposes better, but a shotgun is pretty inelegant weapon for the purposes of pulling a punch. The good news is, the Eviscerator botched his roll pretty badly (illustrated by the ganger's corpse blocking his path diagonally) so it ended up working out in the end, anyway. Yes, the daemons seem to like Sav a bit. Where are the Grey Knights when you need them, huh? Lorm Dragonheart wrote: I checked over the character sheet. I did not think you gave me the hooded version of the body glove, but you have the armour value for the head as a three. Which do I have, so I can correct accordingly? My mistake Lorm, your 'glove was hoodless. I must have been thinking of Iacton's while doing your sheet. It has been corrected. Come to think of it, Uriah is due for a good vision, huh? Even with all the chases, Savalos has good instincts on when it should be flight as opposed to fight. Balfic-graa wrote:
Glad you are enjoying it Bal. I'll admit, I was a little intimidated about getting the tone right for this reunion scene, but I have to admit I am pretty satisfied with the result so far. As always, one of the cool things about RPG's is the unexpected results of interactions between players and NPCs. A lot of Aebena's reaction to you is contingent on what you say to her, and making the revelation you did with complete honesty really played a significant role in the dialogue. I had a long day at work yesterday (hence the lack of posts) but plan on getting caught up tonight. Between posts I will be updating the sheets for the wiki with your new equipment. OK, posted the requisitions. It's getting late here, so I will update the sheets tomorrow and post them to the wiki. Thanks for the reminder on the gear Lorm, but I was prepared. I made sure to copy the text from the OOC thread to a word file a long time ago, knowing it might be a while before it was revisited, heh. Sav's requested gear will be available when/if he gets back to the Armory with Stroinigli, and the twist might have a few more surprises from his bag of tricks by then for everyone. Just in case anyone is wondering, Rad is still with us. I have spoken to him via email and he is still going to be playing. We have conferred on a course of action he wanted to pursue that will take Johnnie off-stage for a little while, however. Don't worry, though, there will be some more clarification in the posts tonight. Sorry about the delay in getting back to Uriah and Kaltos, but they should once more be in the flow of things later this evening. Balfic-graa wrote: See I was thinking it was more like "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" myself. Either way its not good for the home team. Also a good parallel, Sav. It's time to bring Iacton's story to the fore along with others, Davi has been very patient. He earned this reveal. Davi The Eccentric wrote:
Nope, not too much of a nerd. I was thinking that Iacton (partly from the profile pic) strikes me as that quiet, Clint-Eastwoody/Spaghetti Western/Cold Blooded Ronin killer type that shows up as an archetype in westerns, samurai anime, and as a post-apocalyptic drifter. I can almost hear him making that distinctly anime grunt of surprise/shock so common to dubbed movies when he realizes he is facing a facsimile of his master. That's nerdy. Davi The Eccentric wrote:
What a great series of games. Pretty good analogy too, for Iacton. In true Silent Hill fashion, it is about to get even weirder. I'll be moving forward to the next scenes later tonight. Please finalize your intentions if you haven't already done so. I have Kaltos going with Oktammor and Albrek to conduct surveillance on the commissar's shuttle. I'd like Iacton, Sav, and Uriah to firm up their intentions. I'm assuming it is some combination of the Gran Pallazzar, making contact with the Duct Wolves, and/or the Withdrawn Veil.
