Background:
From a very early age it was discovered that Ronan had the finesse and grace to be a fine warrior and it was from that moment on that his life had been decided for him. For nearly 60 years he trained solidly, he didn't make friends with the other Elven children, just spending all of his time with his sword. Yet even after so much training he was still unable to grasp the grace that the Elders had hoped for, he clearly didn't have the "gift" to use such noble weapons. It was upon learning that everyone thought low of him, that made him continue training, through all weathers and all times of the day. He found that preferred to use a slightly heavier, more "savage" weapon, a weapon used for slicing instead of thrusting. To him, this felt and looked a lot more beautiful and if timed right, could also thrust with deadly accuracy.

Due to his time training he didn't have time to learn about social graces and people tried to avoid talking with him, as he was so quiet ... but if he did talk he couldn't soften his tongue. This made him disliked, but he didn't mind. After all this wasn't his life, this life had been forced upon him. No-one could doubt his talents with the heavy, curved blade and knew he would make a brilliant addition to the cities militia and military.

Ronan finally left his family in Kyonin before he had even reached adulthood. He wandered around for around 50 years years living in the wilds, eating what he caught and sleeping where he could. Luckily for him there weren't many people living in the wilds and if he did come across people, they very rarely spoke to him, which he didn't mind.

Even though he has spent over 50 years in the wilderness on his own he has continued to practise the way of the sword and has even evolved what he had been taught into his own style, although he hadn't mastered it yet he was feeling confident that he was close. He would show the people back at Kyonin what he could achieve ... he would find out what happened to cause such unrest those years before.

During his years of wilderness survival he wandered to many places, he has finally found himself at a tavern in the northern region of Taldan ... a most peculiar place for him. Feeling completely uncomfortable around so many others he sat down with a glass of water and rested inside for once.

Answers:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

I rescue myself, as the spider or creature that made the web, is most likely behind me ready to strike. Using the captives as bait.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

I will try to sneak forwards as much a possible without being seen or heard to find out why they are poking him and what he has done. If they are doing it for fun then I will slice them up.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

I go to the orphanage as being among nobles would make me feel VERY uncomfortable and by honour I have already agreed to go to the orphanage.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

By level 5 I hope to have learnt Dervish Dance and be able to provide bonuses to my allies in times of need. By level 10 I am hoping to have started learning how to be a Duelist.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

My favourite villain would have to be Jaime Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire ... well before he met Brienne anyway. He was cruel, strong and was someone you could really hate. I also love any villain that is insane, I actually end up rooting for them!

My favourite hero is definitely Athos from the Three Musketeers (Oliver Reed's version).

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I have never head of or played ToEE.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

I quietly wonder why I am in a tavern. But I will still offer my help as it will give me the chance to improve my sword play. The lack of reward would not be an issue.

Query 1) Where did you wander while you were in the wilderness for all those years? Did you make any companions or friends?

Ronan would have traveled anywhere the road took him, but he had been to Ustalav briefly, as well as Qadira. It was in Qadira that he saw the precision that a curved blade could hold and since then he has been trying to master the technique. Other than those two main countries, he did not know where he was and he didn't care much. As long as he was alive and still practicing his sword play.

Unfortunately because of his constant travelling and bluntness, he was not able to make any friends or acquaintances during his journey. Which doesn't bother him that much as he has always found it hard to say the right thing, because of this he learnt how to fend for himself. But the idea of having someone to talk to who won't take offence at what he said is something he would very much like to come to pass ... Although the idea of placing his life in anothers hands is a very scary proposition.

Query 2) Before you left Kyonin, did you know anyone who had fought in the war against the elementals? What, if any, stories did they tell? (As an elf, you should have been alive when this occurred or born shortly thereafter.)

Most of the Elders in Kyonin were in the war, but the only ones who really spoke about it to him were his father, mother and sword master. Unfortunately his uncle (on his mother's side) had died in the war he had been his fathers sparring partner and a renowned warrior.

His sword master would always tell Ronan how he would not have survived the war had he been old enough. Yes he had started training with a blade by the time of the war, but he was only a boy. Whenever the sword master seemed to get annoyed with Ronan's progress he would start fighting like a savage, showing Ronan just what it took to survive the war.

The stories he was told were mainly about a great evil that spread through the land and corrupted much by its mere touch, an Evil that commanded the elements to its bidding. It took armies from all the known races to defeat the evil and many souls were killed during the blood soaked war, turning the surrounding area's red. Which in Kyonin were known as the Crimson Fields. The stories always explained how just one race could not defeat the Evil as it took all talents and ways of thinking to stem its growth. The stories of the Crimson Fields are used by parents to scare their children, saying they will send them to the fields should they not behave and that the Evil may still be alive waiting to devour them.

Ronan knows that the Evil was defeated though, the peace that is throughout the land is proof of that.

Query 3) Why did you leave Kyonin and what did your family think of you leaving?

Ronans family were starting to get a bit embarrassed about the poor fighting skills their only son had shown so far and the savage weapon that he chose to use. So when he left the note stating he was leaving to train and make them proud as a warrior, like his Uncle he hoped they would be proud and would forgive him.

During his years away he most missed his baby sister who had been born only a few weeks before he left. He decided that they should focus all of their attention on bringing her up into the beautiful woman she will grow to be.

One day he will return to Kyonin, hopefully alive and beg his parents forgiveness for disgracing them, if they held it against him ... he hoped that didn't.
