Played in a PBP where Chris Mortika had an archivist named Lucienne.

I nod at Akallabeth's cautionary signal and gingerly touch the amulet. At the first sign of any influence on my mind I let go of the amulet.

"Alright, Aristis. Don't bite and I'll bring you with me." I move to take the pendant.

I'll just emulate Akallabeth and not post my equally embarassing roll.

I dive to the left when I should have gone right and debris fall on me. Nothing is broken.

Dusting myself, "Oh for the love of the gods! Why do bad things happen to me?!"

Flame on-line; Searching for targets

Ready.

I stand off away from the door and to the side, ready to unleash a spell in the event of enemies from the other side.

"Can you listen for people on the other side of the door?"

"Minor magics? Evocations?"

Using the light from my staff, I illuminate any dark portions of the room, while using one end to subtly tap the flooring to check for surprises.

I join the other in the examination. I will my staff to give off light.

"Akallabeth, I do know a ritual that will allow me to ward an area. But the materials for its invocation is costly and I only have materials for only one invocation. We might need the for the future. I suggest we do it the old fashion way. Trip wires and similar devices."

"You're a sight for sore eyes, Lucienne. Welcome back to the land of the living."

"That would work. Akallabeth, can you hold onto my staff?"

"Taking them unharmed might be difficult. I say we go for deception. I'll volunteer to act as the prisoner."

And I don't look like Chewie

"Thank you, Barkeep, for all that you have done. We go now."

"Ready for some fun and relaxation here."

"What sort of training are we supposed to endure?"

"Let's follow that woman. We owe Lucienne that much." I keep up a brave face as I rise on unsteady legs.

Hearing the plain words of Kegi that Lucienne is dead, tears suddenly started pouring from my eyes. I can only think of how Lucienne helped me pull myself together during the last fight.

I wake up and feel all the nerves of my body vying for attention.

I think I'm presently at 1 hp.

I'm still alive. But why? I lost my nerve out there. I'm a coward.

"Kegi, is everyone alright?"

I am assuming Kegi is nearby when Romulus wakes up.

For Logos:

As the Dandy is completely lost in his fear, I imitate Kegi and move out of the Dandy's field of vision.

The dying man grasps "The Hells I will... you monsters... would as soon stick... an arrow in... or out hahaha. ... of me as look at me... Heal me I walk away... Dont try nuttin...its fragile..."

I tell the Dandy, "I guess you have us beat. Couldn't blame you for resorting to blackmail. Of course, you not knowing any information about the King and all that. I don't suppose you'd also like a nice set of clean clothes to go along with your life. Blood and all that. Look even that vial is covered unsightly bloodstains. What say you give that vial over here so we can have you cleaned and healed up? We'll return the vial afterwards."

I do hope he really is a dandy.

Deeming the Fat Man to be the greatest threat, I hurl a curse to sap his strength, taking care not to let my guard down:

Concentration Check 1d20+7=25

Ranged Touch Attack and Ray of Enfeeblement Damage to Fat Man (1d20+4=16, 1d6+1=5)

Wiping away the tears of shame that are pouring out of my eyes, I step back and look around to assess the situation.

Spot Check (1d20+4=15)

I see Maddock fall, "Nooooooooo!"

Alright! Finally reached 3rd level. Can I update my character sheet?

"Please don't hurt us! I surrender!" I scream as I cower into a ball, sobbing.

Initiative (1d20+7=16)

Hearing Akallabeth's warning, I move back and away from the attacker then hurl a ball of acid at one of the attackers.

Ranged Touch Attack 1d20+4=16, Acid Splash Damage 1d3=1

Logos, sorry for the late post. I was away from the office the entire day and there was no wireless connection where I was.

"I know what you mean. I hate playing games with no apparent rules. If we go to the 'King' without any bargaining chip, we might end up worse than when we started. Perhaps a few choice stories about this 'King' will help us formulate a sort of profile from which we can develop a more tangible plan of action."

"See, that wasn't so hard, lad," I say in the most soothing tone of voice I can manage. "You may call me, Rom. My friends do."

"Give the lad some food to convince him of our good intentions."

Pile on the circumstance bonuses to the diplomacy roll

While Akallabeth has the lad distracted, I move to block the lad's line of retreat.

"Perhaps, we should ask around a bit about the king and his knights before meeting them. The right kind of information may give us the edge to come out ahead in any confrontation with them. At least, that's my opinion."

"So, we're off to see these knights. I do hope they're not the type to hack and slash before listening."

Listen Check (1d20+4=10)

I nod to Lucienne to acknowledge her call for silence.

"Sorry guys. I didn't see you guys leaving the bar. I was lookingfor a back entrance." I take a moment to catch my breath and continue, "So what's the plan?"

I move around to the back and check out the kitchen.

I try to identify any allies of the Dandy who may be in the room, as well as any bouncers.

I follow Kegi after hearing the signal. But seeing as there is no fighting inside the common room, I deem it prudent to remain outside, in case the entire thing is a set up by the Dandy. Pointing to the sign that says minimum of two drinks, I tell Kegi, "I'm broke. I'll stay outside. I need the fresh air anyway." But I keep close to the window so I can see what is happening inside.

Assuming Rom and I at the back, Lu and Ak through the door, Aerianna and Maddock at the front. Let's go.

Let's go. Taking advantage of above average Hide modifier.

"That's a sound idea. I'll go with the ambush party."

I pull out a dagger and clean a fingernail then I flash a grin, "Yes, let us ask 'nicely.'"

I compliment Lucienne and Kegi on their quick thinking.

Thereafter, I keep an eye out for trouble and remark, "This place is strange and we do not know when we can get some rest. Tis prudent to conserve our strength, yes?"

"Where to, then?"

I try to remain unobtrusive as I move to flank the knaves in case a fight breaks out. I also keep an eye out for other knaves hiding.

At last, my post got in.

Good thinking. Flatter them while you're at. They might give up something.

"Can you describe this thing you lost? So we know it when we see it."

"Goodman clown, know where the master of these knights and knaves, hobgoblins and thing below reside?"

She nods, hefts her truncheon and says "Cover me." before moving forward to the two men.

Keeping the truncheon ready and clearly visible, she bluntly asks "Where are we? Do you know how we got here?"

Preparing an acid splash spell in case Aerianna's conversation turns bad.
