Yeah, I don't run Pathfinder, don't ever plan on running Pathfinder, am willing to PLAY Pathfinder, but I will still get these cards simply because I would love to have a nicely done face to put with my unique NPC's, and probably even PC's upon occasion. Yeah, I know. You look at my subscriptions and think, "He doesn't run Pathfinder and he subscribes to all that?!?" Well, quality is quality, no matter what RPG you use to run it. So anyone know what the average monthly cost will be for a "Paizo Charter Superscriber" after August? With a high and low estimate? You know, Paizo could look into arranging their schedule to allow for a fixed average monthly "Paizo Charter Superscriber" subscription rate, with one year commitments. It would make it much easier for subscribers to budget their tithes, errr... Paizo subscriptions... KaeYoss wrote:
Maybe get your orders to over $100 (US), so that Paizo will pay $10 of the shipping? Sounds like your close. The_Minstrel_Wyrm wrote:
Yes, when I ordered the "subscription" my pre orders were converted. I also opted to have everything shipped at one time to save on shipping. Since before a few days ago I only subscribed to PF. I too am falling into the Paizo money trap. Epic Meepo wrote:
I imagine the discount will be what it is now, which isn't 30%. Unfortunately Paizo has to watch how well they treat us, since they don't want to cut their own throats with retailers. Maybe they could get away with giving us a temporary "dedicated customer appreciation discount" at 30% for 30 to 60 days on the PFRPG, but to make it something like 30% permanently? I would be pleasantly shocked to see that happen. Well, in my case, I can afford to buy another copy if I decide having one to get signatures in is that important to me. Signatures is the real reason I would like the book at GenCon, otherwise having it mailed to my home is the far more convenient option. Plus I want the PDF, since I do a LOT of on line gaming, and being able to copy/paste stuff if I ever play PF is a very nice convenience. Vic Wertz wrote:
OK, Thanks Vic! Vic Wertz wrote:
Holy!!! That is certainly one HEAVY book! $8.25 for shipping. I also presume we will have the "combine orders" option when it becomes a subscription? Plus I would still like to know if I could pick up my copy at Gen Con, and get some signatures! Ross Byers wrote:
Thanks! That worked! I ordered the subscription, and it puts the wizard tower in there too, and that was mailed to me yesterday. Plus how do I make it combine shipping with my PF subscription? Edit: OK. I see how to combine shipping, but how do I make sure I do not get sent the Wizards Tower since it was already sent yesterday? Well, as for your coin issue, that is why I have been having 100 coins per pound for about 20 years. Its loosely based on a period of roman coins of similar size and weight. To make it easy I assume the silver and copper coins are actually bigger, so they all are 100 per pound. I generally try to ignore volume. I just hang out on the map making websites and wait for people to use their Campaign Cartographer or other mapping program to do their versions of PF maps. They are usually 4 MB or smaller and work great in Maptools. Maybe Paizo can officially sanction the work of such people until Paizo can do it themselves? I also know I some how get a fair change in the size of maps, with still small file sizes, by simply importing from the PDF to GIMP 2, then take it to Maptools. Just do what I do, go read and don't bother commenting. I mean people actually think they can tell how well a game plays without ever playing it. Reading it is all that is needed. Never mind how they only read it once, and then you have to wonder if they read every word, or every 10th word, or every 50th word. The bad thing is that other people will listen to these "experts". I don't, and didn't. I actually played 4E for many weeks/months before I decided to rank it below GURPS and certainly not worth following any more. However, I can see why people would like it a lot. Lots of people like coffee, I think it tastes like dog doodoo. It all comes down to preferences in taste. So the smart thing to do is ignore EVERYONES opinion and be original enough to form one of your own, by buying, reading, and playing with the RPG. Decide for yourself how much you like or dislike it. Its what I do. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, it means I may take months or years before I get around to having time to trying out different RPG's, but that helps reduce my RPG buying to levels I can barely afford. Rather than having to go into debt (use my CC's) to buy them. The only reason I even read those posts is to get clued in on problem areas for me to pay closer attention to. Usually I find the concerns totally unfounded and due to not fully comprehending the rule in question, which goes back to reading, rather than actually playing and using the rules, to see how they actually do work. Anyways, don't worry about those people on ENWorld, or any board, too much, the smart ones will give PF a fair shake all on its own. They will either think its great, or its dog doodoo. I am hoping their 35% off sale would get them such a spike in sales that they do the sale on a regular basis. Not always, but maybe once every six months, or every April. So we fans can afford to catch up on what we can't afford to stay current with. Vic Wertz wrote: We carry their PDFs right here at paizo. Excellent! Any way to have them show up when the main link from your advertising blurb is clicked? I only saw the core book and PDF for it. Lisa Stevens wrote:
Yep! I got 5 that I really wanted. Hopefully you guys will still be "slow" come May and I can get the other 3 or 4 I still want. Heck, I probably sat there for about 30 minutes agonizing over which ones to choose. Cosmo wrote:
I don't remember how the subscription even got into my cart. Maybe when I restarted it? All I know is that its been in there ever since I restarted, and I just assumed it needed to be in there because its an on going order. I asked how to resubscribe, so if you told me to do something that put it in my cart to begin with, thats probably when I got it in my head it goes in my cart and stays there. Hey, I just want to confirm I didn't screw anything up. I ordered and DLed 2 PDF's yesterday, and during the process I opted to remove my PDF subscription for PF that has been in my cart for the last two months. Now according to my "subscriptions" I am still subscribed to Pathfinder, so having it in my cart was just some kind of unnecessary thing that was going on? Or does it need to be in my cart? While your at it, could you ask the powers that be to read my thread in the website forum to extend the PDF sale a few days into May? Thanks! Mairkurion {tm} wrote: I think what Robert Miller is saying, is that he wants me to get the Katapesh pdf next month on sale. I like Robert Miller. I'm saying I would like all of the PDF's on sale. For at least 72 hours into May, a week would be better. I have only the PF PDF's and two of the map packs. So I would like to buy 10 or so PDF's to catch up a bit on things I haven't bought. I may have bought into that 20 or 30 years ago, but I know better now. Its best to just never use them. Andrew Turner wrote:
He may have a bank card similar to mine. Every time I use my bank card I get 1% back. Stuff adds up! IF its possible I would appreciate it if you guys could extend the sale past April. I am on a fixed income and have spent my "Discretionary" money for the month. So if you could wait until May 3rd, or later, to end it I would greatly appreciate it. No I do not use CC's. If your on a fixed income and using CC's your begging for trouble, eventually. So I pay in cash only, using my bank card. Malleus Aforethought wrote:
No, I don't think it is either, but they can definitely point to print sales, and they can also say all sales lost from discontinuing them (PDF sales) is also the fault of the pirates, and add the loss of sales to the law suite. Malleus Aforethought wrote: Isn't this move to halt PDF sales actually going to hurt their lawsuit? My recollection of U.S. copyright law (IANAL) is that in order to collect damages on copyright infringement, you have to demonstrate that the act in question negatively impacted your sales/income/insert some lawyerly term here. Or are they just going for the "moral" win here? No, because the PDF pirating can also be argued to be hurting print sales too. Molech wrote:
The players guide isn't available yet. The PDF won't even be DL able until Wed. Many of the reasons is why old school D&D is designed the way it is. Not only could you only make items at high levels, but it also required a TON of xp's to get there. So it helped with "verisimilitude" because not only were items rare, but so were people who could make them. Including the PC's, because they would have to wait until 9th level to even be able to make something beyond scrolls and potions, and it took a very long time to earn the XP's to get to that point. Plus you still needed scrolls of enchant item and permanency to make the really powerful stuff, all of which the GM has total control over with availability. So you could have tons of lower level NPC's running all over the place, but the higher levels, who have the power to actually make such items were not only rare in the world, but rare for players to ever achieve without putting in a LOT of time getting there. I think its because Gary Gygax and the others realized it was playing the game that was fun, and that gaining levels quickly meant the game was over faster, and caused a break down in how rare magic items would be with people quickly earning those high levels which allow them to make the items. Allowing such items to be made at lower levels, combined with fast level acquisition, breaks this down even faster. So if you really want to even begin to address this issue you need to adapt some solid old school game design and require high levels to make such items in the first place, and then require a LOT of XP's to even get there. Then realize its the playing that is fun, that winning the hard fought battles and winning the day is much more rewarding than gaining the next level. I don't know about the rest of you, but my adrenaline rushes come from winning the fights, not gaining the level. Vic Wertz wrote:
Nope, but the one that worked just fine was extracted to the same file with the same utility as I tried to do the other file. I have a file/folder dedicated to my Paizo Pathfinders. So saving it to a different folder isn't something I want to do. I have tried to DL PF 18 several times. The one with multiple chapter files. It DL's just fine, but when I extract it to the folder I want it in it tells me there is a file already there with the name, even though there wasn't until I tried to do the extraction, and I did delete it before each additional time I tried. Then I hit "Try Again" several times, with no results. However when I tried the version where it is all one file it worked fine.
