According to ultimate equipment the cestus is a monk weapon and in the 'monk weapon group' (page 47). As far as I can tell it is the only weapon in there other than the sai that doesn't belong in two weapon groups (monk, and then say close for the tonfa for ex). The D20 pfsrd has the cestus listed as a close and a monk weapon. Which is correct?
I'm working on my thesis, and I work best with music going. I have been listening to Folk Radio UK and enjoying it, but it's starting to loop a bit (and been having bandwidth problems). I'm looking for a good classical music or folk radio station I can put on and tune out distractions with. I'm also looking for one without commercials and minimal or no talk (which drives me nuts and breaks my concentration). Anyone have any recommendations?
I'm working on a goblin mounted on a bear sculpted by Tre Manor. I'm trying out greybrushing, so I've primed him black and drybrushed a brown and then an off white. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0550.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0551.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0552.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0553.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0554.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0555.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66469304/IMG_0556.JPG The next step will be putting some glazes of the appropriate colours down.
Reaper is running a kickstarter to convert some of their more popular metal minis into their more affordable 'bones' plastic line. The latest stretch goal is a set of pathfinder's goblins and the pathfinder red dragon. Check it out! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/reaper-miniatures-bones-an-e volution-of-gaming-min
Tre Manor is doing a kickstarter to switch his moulds over from metal to a spin castable resin hybrid. Right now it's for his evil viking type minis. 5 minis for 5 bucks each isn't a bad price. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1103158358/red-box-games-helsvakt-horde I think they would work pretty well as a hell knight stand in. Tre does work for Reaper and has his own line you can look at here: http://www.red-box-games.com/
Well, it's almost over, but I stumbled on this mantic fantasy mini kickstarter, its blown through a ton of stretch goals, so for 200 dollars or so you can get about 750 dollars worth of minis. There's also some kind of buy one get one free deal for purchasing individual units instead of full armies.
Looks like a new baldur's gate game is coming? From the page source code: <!-- February 28, 2012 -->
<!-- For years, I clung to the memory of it. Then the memory of the memory. --> <!-- And then... it returned. Better than it was before. --> <!-- Pore over the tapestries and works of art hanging from our walls if you wish, Child of Bhaal... perhaps you will find a clue. But patience, ah... patience would reveal it all. --> <!-- As the silver moon waxes and wanes, so too does life. -->
I assume this will be announced sometime soon: http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/21740.html

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inkwellideas/monster-stand-ins-plastic- card-miniatures Interesting kickstarter idea. 30 bucks for 150 standees. I know there was lots of clamouring for more monster tokens, this might scratch that itch.

Question for those in the know, what is duel masters and what is its relationship to d&d?
Would it be possible to add thumbnails of the item cards to the community use packages of images? A chunk of the cards have been posted to the blog already, and there are a whole pile of high resolution preview pictures in the product pages (for ex: http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/p/paizoPublishingLLC/gameMastery/itemPacks /v5748btpy7z7i. I'm asking because I noticed that a campaign over on obsidian portal was scanning the cards, turning them into thumbnails and using the images for their campaign, in a way similar to SKR's Tracking Sheet. They've since been taken down. Both their sheets and SKR's look really cool, and very useful. I like using online wiki stuff for tracking and reporting game events, I own most of the decks of item cards and it would be handy to have a set of thumbnails that were CUP compliant that I could add to character sheets or encounter descriptions.
I'm looking for a pathfinder compatible dungeon crawl - similar to Castle of the Mad Archmage or Undermountain. Has anyone published one?
I just received a set of kings of war minis - Mhorgoth's Revenge, a shield breakers troop and a mantic paint set (armypainter paints and brush). I hadn't figured out that Paizo stocked Mantic when I ordered so I bought directly from Mantic (The deluxe starter set). So far everything is looking pretty spiffy. Going to paint them up as a company of mercenaries from Alkenstar and a horde of undead troops from Geb. I'll post up some pics once I get more than a handful assembled. I really like the fact that you can get these minis for less than a buck a model - especially in the wake of the GW price hike and shipping restrictions.
Read a book as a very small child, have a niece getting to the right age, but I can't remember the name and google isn't helping. The plot, as I remember it, is a young boy who wakes up one night, having been shrunk. He's in the kitchen and its inhabited by fairies, different kinds in the sink, dishwasher, refrigerator etc. I believe the vacuum cleaner or the cat make an appearance as monsters. Anyone else remember this story? Maybe it's one of those weird obscure Canadian children's books.
I'm trying out painting for the first time on some minis for a campaign - picked up a few reaper minis (thurion blackguard and some bugbear warriors). I've noticed that they have a tendency to topple over. Is it standard procedure to rebase these minis? Should I just glue them down on to a slotta base? Am I just clumsy?
I'm giving baking a try and I'm starting with bread. Today I'm doing jamie oliver's basic bread. In the past I've done beer bread, soda bread and a basic cool rise bread. Anyone have a to die for bread recipe?
I'm looking for a sci fi series to read again. I read the series in elementary school like 15-17 years ago. Can't remember the titles or author. I'm a bit hazy on the details but the basic plot points were: Earth is recruited into a galactic war because of our warlike nature. Most aliens are pacifists by nature or unable psychologically to fight. A confederation of different species were fighting against a race of psychic overlords and their slave races. First contact happens on a yacht. Aliens are shocked that humans can swim. Humans are immune to the psychic powers of the enemy. In later novels humans are experimented on and given psychic abilities. Anyone read it?
Hi Cosmo or Sara Marie, My dice arrived today, and I've been having fun inking them. However, one of the sets has a bad d6 - it goes 2,3,3,4,4,5 instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6. I can solve this problem on my own with a sharpie. I just thought I would give you guys a heads up in case there is a bad batch of dice floating around. I wish I had paid attention when I was taking them out they seem to be from different batches (one of the back panel inserts has rounded corners, and the other does not).
Anyone played around with this? I got HP Lovecraft for a letter I was writing and cory doctorow for some rough analysis I did of a shareholders agreement. The site:
I'm planning on running a low magic hardboiled detective campaign in the future, and don't want a lot of gear - at the same time I don't want to tinker with the CR. Is there a handy chart out there with roughly what level of magic boosts to stats, damage etc.. a character is expected to have? I thought there was going to be one in the GMG but if there was I must have missed it.
