There's a list of mini manufacturer's and sites in that thread. Was there a specific style of mini you were looking for?

If you have administrator privileges, go to add/remove programs and look for a program called ArcadeWeb.

Someone at your work has likely downloaded a free game from them, they install their adware along with the "free game".

Have you accidentally installed adware like the ask.com toolbar? (which can sneak on when you install foxit reader for ex.)

Is this the first time the current edition of D&D has ever been outsold by any other rpg? Did white wolf get close back in the 90s?

That's all that is up on the wiki. There is a source book for the country as a whole as well (Spirit of Liberty).

The falchion fred fighter build that's kicking around the DPR contest thread. Nice big weapon, easy to understand, effective but not cheesy.

It is an addition to the wording since 3.5, which is interesting. Is it a clarification, or an intent to change.

Of course a separate attack roll sort of implies a separate attack per opponent.

If it is a single attack is there anyway of combining it with some of those "release a touch spell through your sword" type abilities.

[edit] Confused the magus with the duskblade and had a flashback to the duskblade arcane channel / whirlwind combo [/edit]

Hmmm.

Is there another example out there of a single attack requiring multiple rolls we could compare too?

That's not RAI, that's just reading :)

>>Make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach.<<

The way the sentence is put together means there will be one attack per opponent. Make one attack, against each opponent within reach.

If you wanted it to be a single attack that hit multiple opponents you would have to alter the sentence in some way, for ex:

Make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus. This attack affects each opponent within reach.

*shrug*

Maybe I've spend too much time parsing statutes.

"instead make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. You must make a separate attack roll against each opponent."

I read that as one attack per opponent, not a single attack with multiple rolls.

More importantly, whether the people who came up with the title were misogynists or not only matters if the person using it is planning to copy their attitudes in his own world. If not, there are rules for how you make a Scandinavian noun "feminine," to be used if needed.
Usually you add an 'a' at the end, at least for swedish.

I thought swedish had eliminated the feminine / masculine distinction and now only had neuter or "gendered" words - en words and ett words. Wouldn't adding an a make it a verb like adding "ing" would in english?

I would note that engaging in a lawsuit will force Nick not necessarily to work on RC, but rather retain counsel and spend resources dealing with litigation.

You might consider a "letter of intent," listing the participants and explaining your timetable to Nick before such action begins. Such a letter would demonstrate your commitment but give him a final opportunity to act-- working to complete the project, transfer responsibility to another party, or provide refunds.

-Ben.

That's actually a really good idea ...

If anyone is going to do that, you should make sure you have the following :

A) Copies of any e-mail receipts he sent.
B) Print outs of his website if you have them (or can get them from the Wayback machine)
C) Printouts of his posts on Paizo forms.

If you do actually end up taking him to court, you'll have to prove the court has jurisdiction over him, which is hard on someone in another country. Showing he marketed and solicited funds in the US is your first step.

If you go that far, it is unlikely you will ever see the money. What is more likely to happen is you'll win a default judgement (because he probably won't bother to fly over or hire a lawyer to show up). Then when he ignores that, the judge is likely to enter a bench warrant for his arrest for contempt of court.

After that, nothing is likely to happen until and unless he comes back into the US. If he's unlucky, someone will see the warrant and arrest him either at customs or if he get's a speeding ticket or stopped for a broken tail light or something while here.

Note that IANAL (I am not a lawyer), this is a layman's understanding of the process based on being an amateur follower of legal news. You'd want to talk to an actual lawyer.

And, that...

Just a heads up:

When I was working as a summer student in a small town of 10k people the minimum retainer to even get started on this as a small claim was two or three thousand dollars. As a student, I was billed out at 125-150 dollars an hour. That retainer would probably cover all the pre-trial writing and a short day of court work from a student that hadn't passed the bar yet.

A simple "legal" nastygram is going to cost between 500 and a thousand dollars.

A real full blown trial is going to cost between 10 and 50 thousand dollars.

Litigation is a money pit and probably won't get you the outcome you desire (in this instance because of the LLC).

I wonder if he is intending on file for Chapter 11....

Since Chapter 11 (bankruptcy) exists only in the United States, and he's living in England, I doubt it. But that's nitpicking; I got your intent.

If he was here in the States, he might have been the target of an involuntary bankruptcy, where his creditors (us) forced him into bankruptcy to try and recover some or all of our claims. But I'm not an atty, so don't know if the criteria for that would have been met in any case.

Just a feel-good daydream at this point. Unlike the prospect of my ever getting a refund. That's more like a feel-bad nightmare.

In this hypothetical situation, I think you'd likely find that Sinister Adventures LLC and not Nick Logue is the entity that we gave our money too. Emphasis on limited liability. That money is looong gone.

Of course the company could own some interesting art assets - the WAR cover etc...

But down that route lies creditor's remedies and madness.

You can find summarized versions of the inner sea guide type books here:

http://www.pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Pathfinder_Wiki.

It does have images, but far fewer. And because it is a website you can choose not to load images from the site (in firefox for ex you would do: tools -> options -> content -> load image exceptions).

You could also try purchasing pdfs instead and either not print the images, or print and excise the images you found distasteful.

It's not a book, but you can get all of the rules for free and without images here:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

or on paizo's site:

http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/

Other than that, all the books have artwork as far as I know.

Would it be possible to add thumbnails of the item cards to the community use packages of images? A chunk of the cards have been posted to the blog already, and there are a whole pile of high resolution preview pictures in the product pages (for ex: http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/p/paizoPublishingLLC/gameMastery/itemPacks /v5748btpy7z7i.

I'm asking because I noticed that a campaign over on obsidian portal was scanning the cards, turning them into thumbnails and using the images for their campaign, in a way similar to SKR's Tracking Sheet. They've since been taken down. Both their sheets and SKR's look really cool, and very useful.

I like using online wiki stuff for tracking and reporting game events, I own most of the decks of item cards and it would be handy to have a set of thumbnails that were CUP compliant that I could add to character sheets or encounter descriptions.

You're welcome!

To be clear, though, you're saying that it's your belief that the Pathfinder brand has a higher sales volume than the D&D brand?

At this time in history, that is what I have been told by people in the hobby distribution trade, the book trade, and other avenues that both games sell their products into. If you talk to the various retailers, it is a mixed bag, with one telling you one thing and another a different story. But when you talk to the folks who sell those retailers the product that they sell, then you get a clearer picture.

And I am just talking table-top RPG business. I am not talking about board games or card games or video games or whatnot. Just books and digital copies of those books for use in playing a table-top RPG.

Nope, the Rules Compendium isn't necessary. In fact, the majority of the rules are contained in each of the DM's Kit and Heroes books; they're designed so that you don't need to have both if you're only going to be DMing, or only going to be playing. The Monster Vault itself doesn't contain any system rules, just monsters, so even that isn't strictly necessary if you're just planning on running prepackaged adventures (a large adventure comes with the DM's Kit, too).

The Rules Compendium was designed as a "table reference" book, that could be passed around or quickly opened during a game in case there was any confusion as to how a part of the game worked. I can't really speak to its utility; I own it, but I play with a laptop in front of me at the table, so whenever I need to look up a rule I pull up the online Compendium or just reference the DM Screen.

I see...thanks. That bit has always been somewhat unclear to me (though maybe it is just me).

Not just you, I got the red box at pax, and had a heck of a time figuring out whether or not I needed to get the rules compendium and the heroes books, or could get by with just one. The red box made me leery of accidentally buying another pay-to-preview product again. Threw my hands up eventually and started looking at Hackmaster Basic instead.

Well I went and did more Google Fu and the numbers come back in two batches. Either its a company with 200-500 people (usually listing around 300) or its a company with 3000. I see nothing definitive in either direction but agree that 3000 sure sounds pretty big and maybe either there was an extra 0 put on some form that has now spread false information around the internet to things like job search web sights or maybe Hasbro as a whole has roughly 3000 employees and that number has been whats getting attached to WotC company profiles. Could be some other reason that I have not considered as well...though even 300 people is pretty big and might cause a corporation to occasionally shuffle people off in part just to make it so that the lower ranks know that there is some chance for advancement if they show initiative, good ideas and otherwise try and distinguish themselves from their peers.

The 3000 could be old news from when they had retail stores?

I do know Bill had posted that he was leaving, and doing so on his own terms. I haven't seen anything from his wife--and that link you posted isn't working for me at the moment, but that may have more to do with me being at work than the link being bad.

Possibly. Frankly, if they were layoffs, several of the folks were high enough up in a position (Mr. Slavicsek, most notably) that they actually likely had a say in who was going, and chose to replace themselves rather than stay on. Frankly, I figured either he and his wife had chosen to take early retirement, or perhaps had left to pursue work on a Star Wars related project.

The links to the to relative tweets that said there were layoffs (not necessarily Bill's but the others) are in this THREAD .

I think that these layoffs are coming at the end of the fiscal year (June into July) aren't really a surprise. It seems that WOTC lays off people every year at least and people who work for WOTC know to expect these layoffs.

WOTC's year end is in December.

Seems to me like it could be sort of a big deal.

Bill was the creative director, Michele Carter was the managing editor and Shoe was the lead d&d developer / designer. It's similar ish to if Paizo laid off (or if they quit):

Creative Director: James Jacobs
Lead Designer: Jason Bulmahn
Managing Editor: F. Wesley Schneider

Or it could just be the yearly turn over.

I'll check out the link Robert. I went to Home Depot, Lowes and local hardware stores on advice exactly the same as yours. They all carry a product called "plumbers putty" that is not epoxy, and they have two part gray epoxy under another name, but it hardens in like ten minutes. I asked and the Home Depot said they stopped carrying the "old kind" a few years ago. So the online link might be the best way to go. At least if your hardware stores have made the same stocking decisions mine have.

If your home depot won't order it in for you try one of the stores on this page, but be sure to price check:

http://polymericsystems.com/epoxies-adhesives/epoxy-putty-tapes/where-to-ge t-kneadatite-blue-yellow.htm

Or here:

http://www.jdindustrialsupply.com/knblepta.html

I'd normally not link away from paizo, but a x3 mark up when you buy from the hobby trade is too big a price mismatch, given that its an identical product and there aren't any amazon.com long tail shenanigans going on.

Sean K Reynolds wrote:
Hmm, I'll have to investigate that. Normally the tape isn't as good as the tubes because where the two halves connect (down the center line of the tape), it hardens, which means you have an unusable chunk down the middle--I'd say about 20% or so.

You should be able to buy the tubes (they call them bars) as well, same supplier just a different package. Both are 100 grams if I recall correctly.

The warstore has a decent price, especially compared to the highway robbery that Games Workshop is trying to pull selling 20 grams for a little more than what a 100g tube or strip will cost. (GW charges 12 dollars CAD for 20 grams).

Re: Kneadatite. You can buy this stuff far more economically from a plumbing supply store. It's just plumbing epoxy. I used to stock boxes of it when I worked for a wholesaler. Just ask for Kneadatite Blue/Yellow, the manufacturer is Polymeric Systems.

It should cost like 10 bucks for a 36 inch roll of two part tape. Less if you go to a good store, I know ours gave a 20-30% discount off MSRP to non-contractors and 50% off to anyone with a plumbing ticket.

Bill Slavicsek was the Director of Roleplaying Design and Development. Was he the "boss" of D&D - the man in charge? That was the impression I got when 4e was rolling out, but I could be wrong.

Stephen Schubert was the lead developer for the Dungeons & Dragons. Michelle Carter was the Senior RPG Editor/D&D Lead Editor. Aren't they the core of the D&D RPG group that was created last may? Didn't Mr. Schubert replace Mearls as lead developer just over a year ago or so? Why fire someone you just promoted?

Being run by a major corporation, such as Hasbro, when a product doesn't meet continuing sales that meet investor expectations, directors tend to get replaced for a new team.

If it's 5e, or just a shake up to get new blood in, and take the product in a new direction, who knows, all I know is I heard rumors, and now I see executives being laid-off.

Haven't seen any layoffs from the D&D New Business team. Which would be James Wyatt, Chris Youngs, Bruce Cordell, Peter Lee and I think Rodney Thompson.

I don't think editors and developers count as executives.
