"That's a very good idea, actually. It has my vote. Final question - has anyone ever seen the, uh, djinn? Is it... fleshy, or does it seem more mechanical in nature?" Roach leans over to Maccoy. "Sounds like a repair cycle to me - the doors open as the power is turned off for automated maintenance, and adventureres then run into the repair robots," he mutters.
"Does it open every full moon?"
"I assume the tower is the black building behind the palisade? Does the djinn come out, or do the adventuresome fellows come to it?"
"Uh, OK... I'll take 'prophecy', 'blackguard' and..., ah, 'squire'. And 'golly gee', just in case they are confused about their historical slang." Roach ties up Bullwinkle outside the inn and follows Germain.
Beer. Or maybe mead - this seems like the place for it.
"Indeed, our quest has brought great hardships upon our warband. If we could find succor here, in this beleaguered land, we would be most grateful."
Huh - did we just run into a town of Mennonites? Diplomacy aid another 11+0=11, so add +2 to MacCoy's result.
"While I see your point, I like sleeping under a roof. I'd vote for stopping here for the night. Of course, this is contingent on the guys running the village."
"Spidders close by. I can...smell them. Sort of. Stay alert." He cocks his AK, ready for trouble
Spot 13+12=25.
"Agreed. Less fighting here means more ammo to be used on Wreckers later."
"That's certainly a valuable skill to have", Roach replies, his face studiedly neutral.
"Supply, mostly. Nu Ork's a big place, and it's fulla hardcases who like a good scrap. And, most importantly, said hardcases are mostly muties."
"OMNUS won't help 'em. It'll give them some b#$+&$&$ about Romero plague not threatening its synapses or something like that, and then send them off packing." Roach sips his beer. "Yeah, we're northrners, going to Nu Ork. Any gangs operating around here? Spiders don't worry me too much, unless they have guns."

Beer.
"Sounds good to me." Roach walks Bullwinkle over to the stable.
"Yeah, a beer sounds great. Perhaps someone will give us a ride on their mecha-wagon?"
"Nah. It's what they want - the computer-brain keeps 'em safe, and in return, they let it tell them what to do. Maybe this'll teach the little squirt to be nice to animals."
Roach rides his trusty morse (a moose-horse crossbreed; his favours the moose side of the family) named Bullwinkle.
"He wants to know if we can buy guns n's*%@ here once we come back through with a bunch of hard Nu Orkers. I think."
"Why would their code stop them from using such weapons? EMP doesn't harm humans, after all. The Wreckers like zappin' things with EMP, just in case there might be androids around."

"So, metal bich, do yous guys knows about da Wreckahs?" "Indeed, I have been gathering information on the Rectified Church of the Martyred Saints, or the 'Wreckers' as they are nicknamed. I predict they will be entering the Cumberland Gap and the Hudson Valley by this Fall. I have run many permutations, and I believe they pose no serious threat to me or my polity." "Yer math is off, tin man. The Wreckers can't stand non-humans. Once they're done killing all the mutie humans and the Verminont types, they'll come here - and then ya'll be alone. Better to nip the purist mofos in the bud, don't ya think?"
"Huh. Romero Plague is the one that turns people into zombies, innit? So many plagues, I lose track of 'em all. Not that I give a s+&@, I never get sick." Roach pauses for a bit. "Now, should we try to get these fine machines on our side? At the very lest we should stop by the town hall and tell them 'bout them Wreckers."
"Romero Plague". :D Awesome!
"This is going to be awesome." Roach can't help but laugh out loud. "Earlobe? Between his toes? Maybe you can take it as a suppository pill?"
"I guess that answers that." Roach stretches out his hand to the police-bot. "Just pump me full o' nanites, then."
"Ah, yes, just passin' though, ma'am, on our way south. We'll stock up on supplies before we move on, though."
"Y'all shold try Sherman's cigars at some point, they are absolutely fabulous." Roach pats Germain affectionately on the head before disentangling himself. "Gentlemen, nice to meet ya. However, I couldn't help but notice that this place actually has a functioning power grid, so I am off to find a place with running water. I haven't had a warm shower in..., um... six years, I think; tonight, I'll remedy that. Let's meet here tomorrow at noon to discuss travel plans. Until then, good night."
"C'mon, G-girl, don't cry. We'll go somewhere and let ya kill someone real soon, I promise."

Who is still with us?
Chiro and E.V.A. are gone, so it's you, me, Germain and Sherman plus the two new guys.
"Ever been down to Nu Ork, by the way?"
Dot.
Germain wrote: "We don't have any men there see. They keep dieing off. Real tragic, most don't last more then a year, it seems something down there is really disagreeable to them." "No beer, eh?"
"Digital books, eh? Where the hell did you grow up, G?"
"Didja drink something you probably shouldn't have?"
"What the wreckers are after? That's no mystery - they want to kill all mutants to 'make the world safe for humans'." Roach shakes his head in disgust. "F&$$ 'em. They burned my boat after one of their damned dogs started barking at me. I barely got away in one piece myself; hell, I only stopped picking shrapnel outta my back a couple of months ago. Nobody's safe until they're all dead." He drains his second boilermaker.
Roach sniffs the boilermaker, and delighted grin spreads across his face. "Ooooh yeah, that's what I'm talkin' about. I think I'll have one more while I'm at it." He drains one before sipping the next two slowly.
"Nice, nice, nice... Say, couldya perhaps suggest a good place to spend the night? Hell, I'm thinkin' this town might even have running hot water."
Three credits scratched.
Mutant Monkey wrote: The bartender looks up from polishing glasses and gives the group a professional smile.
"Howdy folks. What's your drink?"
"Anything that's, ah... cheap, strong and won't make me permanently blind. If you've got that, I'll take two."
Roach rolls up to he bar. "How much for one of those?", he asks the guy siting there.

None of the three show nanite infection. All hardware devices clean of malware.
The guard nods
"Welcome to Russelville folks,"
"Thanks, man - oh, and thank you too, Bone. It's a good thing to know that I don't have any infections." Roach gets bak up on Bullwinkle nd rides into town.
"Nanites, Sherman? It's like having hookworm or some other parasite - but the things are little machines. Sounds pretty bad to me, having little robots messing with your insides."
"Go for it, Bone. Hell, this could be real interesting."
Hey, it lives!
"Ah, that was nasty fight. We sure have some good stories to tell now!"
*thud*
Attack roll 13+5=AC 18, damage 9.
Commence robo-baiting!
Roach steps into the street before lobbing a rock in the general direction of the guard-bot.
Move to Z26. I'm not trying to hit the robot, just get its attention - I'm aiming in the general area of M20. Attack roll (if necessary) 13+5=18.
As I'm baiting the robot, I need to be closer to the road. I'll start in Z28. Similarly, if E.V.A. is to cast robo-magicks, she might need to be closer to where it is supposed to move through as well - I'm thinking Z10 or so.
"I gotta meet your mom sometime. 'Specially if she has more hardware like that." Roach waves at the others. "I'll try to draw the bot over here. If it doesn't come after me, just open up. If it does... Just open up at closer range." He waits until everybody's in position before stepping out of the rubble and chucking a rock at towards the guardian.
I don't know how E.V.A.'s robo-juju works, but if she could disable this thing without us having to use up lots of ammo and waking the bird dudes it would be a Good Thing. I'll try to lead it towards her position.
"Nice gun."
Roach nods in agreement. "Crossfire sounds good. We'll need to hammer it into submission quickly and then sprint into the tower."
Two groups plus Chiro sounds good. We'll maintain line of sight with each other at all times, though.
Yeah - at work I can access Paizo, but not WOTC. The latter are "games" and thus forbidden, but the former are not...
We're sorta waiting for Kruelaid... Of course, I haven't seen him in two weeks or so.
"Agreed. Also, the gun looks far too dangerous for E.V.A. to try that robo-juju on it - one false move, and she'll be peppered fulla holes. Shame."
"Nice. How 'bout this: Chiro borrows Cocaman's artillery piece and flies stealthily to a sniper spot that overlooks the main entrance. Meanwhile, Hawkshadow leads the rest of us there without being seen. When in place, we sprint across the plaza and in through the door while Chiro blows up any vulturoid that fires at us. We then make our way up, killiong bird dudes as we go." Roach looks a little sheepish. "Hard to plan from here and onwards. E.V.A.'s advice will help us here. Chiro joins us once we get a bit up and can reach a window; until then, he snipes at the birdmen. We then keep killing them beakies until they give up and beat feet."
"Excellent. Good seein' ya, Hawkshadow. Hopefully we'll put your skills to good use." Roach squats next to the wall and pulls out a crayon. "Now, if we are here..."
I was thinking of drawing a map of sorts and then plotting our route to the Elephant Tower in a way that keeps us out of sight for sharp-eyed vulturoids. Could our little scout do that?
