As I said, I'm fresh to the Crimson Throne world. Can anyone point me where to read up about it? I did a similar thing with a RotRL PbP not long ago, and it worked out just fine.

The Player's Guide PDF is a free download.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I have started on Alandra. I sure hope she gets to play!

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I would love to join this game.

I was thinking of a Cleric of Pharasma - Human Female, of Shoanti descent but culturally Korvosan. She was captured and sold as a slave as a young child (to Gaerden Lamm), then escaped and joined the temple of Pharasma at about the age of ten or eleven. She is now about sixteen, and lives at the temple and works in the graveyard. Although she is young, she is hard, having had a tough life on the streets as one of the Little Lamm's. She would have a backgound trait of Unhappy Childhood-Religious

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I've been wanting to play in a CotCT PbP game.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I was thinking about it. I figured we could play-test the Beta while we're at it.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

In addition to the socialization aspect, over-the-table gaming also has the tactile aspect; actually moving the figurines around and rolling the dice. I always loved rolling all the different kinds of dice. There's nothing like rolling a hand-full of d6s and totaling up the damage and taking out a monster.

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

Eldon, unfortunately this is another aborted duplicate thread. The best way to join a PbP game is to keep an eye on the Gamer Connection category and wait until someone announces they are starting up a game. Then you post and ask if you can join. Good luck!

Do I roll Inititave now?

Each of you can do 4 initiative rolls if you want. It will help speed things up. Post them in this thread.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I just got mine today. What's up with the crazy packaging? I hope the shirt isn't permanently wrinkled...

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

Off topic...

Tarren, I noticed you ran a PbP game for kids. How did that work out?

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

We have an official answer on the Bit of Luck rule (see the thread).

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

In play-testing Alpha 3, our group had some confusion about the bit of luck Luck domain ability, specifically when the luck runs out and you can no longer roll two dice for one attack. The rule says:

Pathfinder RPG Alpha 3 wrote:
The target must decide to use this ability before rolling the dice. This effect fades after 3 rounds or when the reroll is used.

I thought this could be interpreted two ways:

1. The luck runs out after the target decides to roll two dice for a single attack, regardless of what the result of either roll is.

2. The target can keep rolling two dice for each attack until he actually uses the second roll to resolve the attack (or thee rounds elapses).

Favored Class

Not very helpful, I just hope Jason sees it so he can make his intent clearer. Maybe he already has in the Beta.

I haven't posted the other one yet.

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

I already posted a thread on the second issue and was going to on the first.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

If you start out as a multi-classed (character level higher than 1st), it is not clear if a human's favored class is from first class level taken or if it can be any class (one of the class levels taken after the first class).

For example, I started a character as a Rogue 1/Sorcerer 3 and I assumed the level of Rogue was the first one taken. However I wanted the character's favored class to be Sorcerer. Can I do this? The rules as written aren't clear.

Psst. Who let the goblin snake in here?

Damn. Too many ales.

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

I'll take a ring of swimming and two potions of cure moderate wounds. Do I pay for them or are they loot from the pirate ship?

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

I rolled for may random hit die roll. I got lucky :)

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

Then I'll take sorcerer as my favored class.

Thanks Tarren and Dark Arioch for your help.

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

Yeah, the problem with that though is the max 8 hits for the 1st character level of rogue, and the archery feats. As far as background, I figured he got the level of rogue in his teenage years studying with his father, who maybe had a level of rogue as well as a couple of ranger. Then he got the levels of sorcerer when he went to dragon magic school in Absalom.

Either way I think it works about the same as far as hit points go:

Favored class Rogue: 8 + 4 + 4 + random 1d6 + 1 favored class + 4 Con bonus = 21 + random 1d6

Favored class Sorcerer 6 + 4 + 4 + random 1d8 + 3 favored class + 4 Con bonus = 21 + random 1d8

Andoran (Male Human Geek Level 10)

In the rules it says for a human you pick your favored class at first level, but does it have to be the first class you actually take?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Of course. Thanks Dark Arioch!

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

If we have more questions do we post them here or on the discussion thread?

I am wondering if I did my ability scores correctly. This is what i did: All scores start at 10. For high fantasy I got 20 points. I increased two ability scores to 16, which used up all my points. I got 2 bonus points for being human and 1 point for levels. Thus the scores on my character sheet. Is that correct?

Also, can I buy magic items with my gold (potions and stuff)?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Oops, I just realized PRPG removed the cross-class skill rule. So, Swim +4.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Tarren wrote:
Pssst. The adventure is titled 'River into Darkness'. Someone who could swim might help. Hint, hint.

That's why I expended skill points on a non-class skill to get Swim + 2! Besides, Ixius spent alot of time on boats so should know how to swim at least a little bit.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Tarren wrote:
Ahhh ... So you're taking the composite for the extra 10' of range? 25 gp more isn't much. Just thought it was curious.

Yep, pretty much. That's just Ixius. He wants nothing but the best in bows.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:
"Ranged Masterwork composite longbow +5 (1d8/x3)" .... What's the pull on this composite longbow. The strength bonus should be added to damage.

Composite longbow +0 (Ixius has no strength modifier)

Tarren wrote:
Look at your skills again. Are you adding in the +3 for class skills?

Nope. I missed that rule. I will adjust. Thanks Tarren

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

How's this:
Ixius has a level of Rogue then three of sorcerer of the Draconic bloodline. He is an expert archer.

Here is an outline of his background:

Ixius was born in Andora of an Andoran ex-ranger father and an Osirian mother. After his father married and had children he quit rangering and settled down to a simple life of farming, hunting and raising children in the countryside outside of Almas. From his father he learned to be an expert archer and the craft of bowmaking. From his mother he learned that he inherited her family's talent for draconic sorcery. When he was a teenager he left Andora for Absalom to attend one of its prestigious arcane univerities. He learned more sorcerous skills at school, but was caught trying to steal a magic longbow that one of his instructors was crafting. He was then expelled from the university and sent to prison.

After a couple of years of hard time Ixius was released with nothing but hard-earned rougish fighting skills and a bad temper. After living on the streets of Absalom for a couple of months he got a job as a bowmaker for the captain of an Absalom navy ship. He travelled on the navy ship around the inner sea for a couple of months, until the ship was lost in a battle against pirates from the Shackles. Ixius was captured and taken as a slave rower on one of the pirate ships. The ship was caught in a bad storm of the Eye of Abendego and was wrecked on the northern coast of the Shackles. Ixius escaped his pirate masters and eventually made his way to Bloodcove where he is currently seeking work, or even better, well-paying adventure.

Ixius has a rough demeanor but can also be very charming when he wants to. He has a bad temper and sometimes does not use his best judgement.

Tarren I have a couple of questions:

How much money do we get to purchase equipment?

How do we calculate hit points?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Sweet!

I was thinking of a Rogue 1/Sorceror 3 (Draconic bloodline). I will post more details later tonight, depending on what everyone else wants to run.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I'm interested.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Unfortunately I didn't make the cut. I would still like to play if anything changes.

Cry, thanks for considering me,

Rr

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I've been following a couple of the PbP threads, so I get the basic idea. I'll have to figure out how to format the posts and roll the dice.

As far as a character class goes, I don't really have a strong preference. However, i am only familiar with the core classes and races.

If I had to choose now... Human Ranger? Too boring?

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I'd be interested in playing in a PbP game of Curse of the Crimson Throne (either 3.5 or PRPG). I have never played PbP before, so I might need some help at first. Tower of the Last Baron would be cool too.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

I also run 10.5.3 and have no problems viewing the PDFs with Preview.

Andoran (Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber)

Awesome picture of Gogmurt. I noticed Burnt Offerings didn't have a picture of him which is a shame since he is one of my favorite NPCs. Thanks!
