By the way, Pett's entire family tree is made of pure 100% Liza Minnelli douche. Uncanny...
What is this thing you keep going on about Logue?
Cindersnake - isn't that one of those fat snakes?

I'm also delighted somebody on these boards knows who Windsor Davies is.
Hoorah and off to demolish a wall. Move yourselves, move yourselves!

:) Every cloud...
It could always be looked upon as an additional plot device of course:
1 I visualised Robahl as looking something like British Actor Windsor Davies, a picture of whom can be found here (he's the one on the right)-
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2806447.stm
OR
2 Robahl is even more eccentric than listed, he frequently dons his robe of disguise (as hat of disguise (PFCR 516) and adopts a new persona for each day to show who is the greatest actor of all - be that his usual short self, the persona of Drac Robahl the dashing gothic artiste, Lorena Robahl, the lady with the deep voice, Karl Robahl the black-robed pirate or any number of other personas.
OR
3 Do like you said and ignore the picture.

Pulptastic cover, by the way:)
Love it.

Can't help but notice that mr Logue here keeps trying to move things away from Sixfold, could it be that he knows just how much his previous AP entries will be crushed by this adventure?

Hey everyone,
this is a quick heads up - my hotmail account has just blasted out loads of emails to everyone in my mailing list with the title 'FOTO 04/07' - its a pretty nasty virus - if its opened it basically keeps sending emails out so you use up your quota and can't warn anyone.
If anyone gets an email from me with this on please delete it, also if you see any others in your inbox with this on, it wouls seem wise to delete them as well, this one is a nasty.

Rich I want Pett to write an adventure set in a Taldan public school which culminates in a game of cricket against the descendants of exiled criminals.

dmchucky69 wrote: Entropi wrote: dmchucky69 wrote: You know, I hope he's joking too. Lol. Rest asured, I am. Thought my sarcasm was easier to read, but that's the Interwebs for ya. No worries. This is something that has been eating at me for awhile; your post seemed like as good a place as any to put my often unwanted opinion into the mix. I just keep waiting for James Jacobs or Richard Pett to make a serious post admitting that the Xanesha encounter is really too difficult for the level range of the module (and maybe they already have and I have just missed it). But this shouldn't be taken as a slight against Paizo; their stuff is heads above everyone elses. Hello DMChucky,
there have been several discussion about Xanesha on these boards, some groups seem to handle her relatively easily, other DMs tamper with her a bit, and by the looks of things no two experiences are exactly the same- which is splendid as it shows the incredible diversity of the way groups play such encounters.
In writing adventures one of the key things is to make a memorable encounter and I think the battle with Xanesha on the top of the clocktower is that. She may be a little tough for some groups, she may be easier for others, and I'll give you an example of that.
Whilst playtesting the Crucible, which is an adventure I'll be publishing myself in due course, I have run two playtest - one with my own group and one at a recent convention - my own group struggled hugely with the final encounter, whilst the con group simply dealt with it by a very clever use of a spell. In all adventures different groups will have different takes - some players (like mine) love to play less powerful flawed characters, whilst others love to meta game - theres no right way or wrong way of doing it and in every case it is up to the DM to decide how to run things - and if the encounters need toughening up or weakening.
Again however the issue is a memorable experience, and whilst I don't like to think of anyone thinking the adventure is too hard I don't want to make it too weak either. I also look at the passion that comes across from these fine boards for an adventure which was published some time ago now and that makes me very happy that clearly it sticks in player's and DM's memories.
However, you may be interested to know that James did indeed tone down my ending, which had a very scary sting in the tail.

Dear Sir Pett, please don't feel ashamed for this hard-as-nails "boss", she was one of the more memorable villains of RotRL and when centuries will pass and sun will set on the British Empire, people will remember her alongside of Karzoug and Nualia as the most famous AP enemies. Good job !

Although having a 13 year old McGee girl at my table made me feel old, especially when I can remember DMing her parents with her in a cot nearby.
Also it was a bonus that Richard Pett lead us through his Styes, the girallon-flesh golem was a touch unnerving but when you rarely get to play, you really want it to be special and it was. Thanks.
Lastly I want to thank Dave and Sarah and Rob (and any other organisers I may not have been aware of) because I took two friends who had never been to a Con and they are converts. You did good.
To Paizo itself, thank you the prizes, getting the Jackal's Price after the raffle was nice, but I would have liked the opportunity to meet and game with one or two more of you staffers too. Maybe next time.
Cheers
That goes both ways my dear chap, and if only Ben had gone along with my idea to give the gargoyle Jason's spellbook all would have gone much smoother

Alas poor Merisiel, she died as she lived... obliviously, stupidly and spectacularly. At least Ezren couldn't taunt her about growing a second head any more, and I got to play a conveniently-hanging-around Amiri (who would probably have died too, from a building collapsing on her whilst she wildly attacked a huge fire elemental, if it hadn't been for Rich rolling a one at just the right time; for a save against a highly-unlikely-to-succeed dismissal attempt from the cleric).
And I hear that, whilst the adventure was never published, it may well become available at some point :).
Fantastic weekend, special thanks to Wintergreen and everyone else who helped with the organisation, all the players I had the honour of adventuring with and my wonderful GMs: Ted, Rich and Frenchwolf (twice). Oh and to Ben for writing a scenario that truly made me fear for my character's life :P.
I'd agree with Paul that I'd prefer to have something more social/light/drop-in-drop-out in slot 3. I'll freely admit I dropped out of slot 3 because I just can't hack 12 hours of nothing but D&D, especially after the rather intense Styes game; if there'd been some light board-games or other silly and not too taxing activities, I could definately have gone for that rather than just sneaking off to the pub :).
Oh, I can't remember who was asking for a link now, but Pete's aborted diary of my CotCT game can be found here.
Here's to next year! You're right of course, I think I did her a favor by having her ripped
limb from limb by the girallon flesh golem, she'd have had no fun in life with that second head lolling about...
And you are most welcome, it was my pleasure and privillege - I had a great time with you fine ladies and gents, but I'm stil smarting about my poor mastervillain being dismissed thanks to a totally outrageous (and doubtless rigged) roll of 1 when all I needed was a 3 - I can see that next year I'm going to have to come up with a tougher adventure:)

Obituary:
Name of PC: Merisiel
Day Job: 'Pathfinder Iconic'
Cause of Death: Poison arrow trap, whilst chasing 'The Monkey' home to the lair of The Organ-grinder
Real Cause of Death: The twisted genius that is Richard Pett
Details:
Alas, poor Merisiel.
Earlier in the adventure, whilst pursuing a two-headed villain, high amongst the rooftops of the Styes, she had failed a balance check whilst tumbling past an unusual variant of fire elemental onto a narrow wooden plank, and would have fallen to a messy end on the cobbles below, had it not been for a fly spell which was still active on her from earlier in the adventure.
Having shortly after dispatched and then interrogated the deceased two headed villain by means of a speak with the dead spell, the PCs learned that they needed to pursue inquiries with a fellow known as 'The Organ-grinder'. Arriving at a market where he was believed to hang out, the PCs were spotted lurking suspiciously by The Organ-grinder's sinister monkey companion, and the villain and his monkey associate split.
Whilst the rest of the party took on The Organ-grinder, Merisiel pursued the monkey back to its master's home, and rather than await the arrival of the rest of the party, Merisiel rashly flung open the front door.
She took a critical hit from a [wyvern] poison arrow trap, failed the save, took nine constitution damage, and the DM then drew a 'bleed' result from the critical hits deck.
Reduced to negative hitpoints, and with her companions in arms still several rounds behind, Merisiel bled out on the cobbles, before her body was kicked into the waters of the Styes for the local marine life to feast upon by the flesh golem that emerged from The Organ-grinder's domicile.
There were only a few pieces left by the time that the rest of the party arrived...
This looked a very fun adventure and it was a shame that it never saw print...
Huzzah!
Can the annals confirm that the Styes was responsible for the first ever PaizoCon UK death, and also go on to say that Merisel gets 10 out of 10 for entering the sprit of the town of decay by getting despatched in such a gruesomely spectacular way - bravo madam!
Ready for any questions when the Trial begins you fine fellows...
I want to quash this insane rumor that we are the same person and that's why Louge is a no-show.
