Background:

Reniedir was born the middle child and second son to a middle-class family in the elven lands. His parents were merchants and he had an elder brother and a younger adopted half-elf sister. Being merchants it often led their family into dangerous situations on the roads. From dangerous weather to surviving animal or bandit attacks.

His sister was an orphan of the road, her parents had been merchants and tradesfolk as well. Sadly though their caravan was overrun by greenskins. When they found the wreckage of her caravan she was alone. His parents, being good-hearted folk brought her into their family and raised her as their own. Despite her split heritage, she showed more elven features and it made it easy to slip through life without disruptions in the elven lands.

They spent much of their childhood in the back of a wagon, on horseback or sprinting through well-traveled trails. They lived for the freedom of running through the woods and breathing the fresh air you couldn't find in cities. His younger adopted sister was the same as him, though he strived to master the bow and she the elven curved blade. Though he was almost a hundred years her senior he grew a deep affection for her.

This affection turned into love as they grew into adulthood and it was a love they kept hidden from their family. Though it was fierce as a northern gale when they finally realized it. However, life is never predictable or easy. He had ideas to become a knight of the Elven Nation and he went to the task with great zeal. She, however, failed the entrance exams and was forced to continue traveling with the rest of their family.

Despite distance, their love grew, after a decade in the knights, he had gained his own flying mount, equipment, and standard. He had excelled well with the others and opted for aerial border patrol. The lands were not as safe as they used to be in the outer villages and being a woodsman he decided to stay near his roots now that he could. It also gave him time to be closer to family and his beloved.

However, it was not meant to be, his family was returning from the Bishopric of Helm when greenskin attacked their sizeable caravan near the border to the barbaric lands. Only through magic did the outer patrols get word of the brutal attack and against orders, Reniedir took to the air alone. His emotions overriding his judgment, it took hours to reach the embattled caravan and by then he and his hippogriff were both fatigued. Sadly it was already over, the greenskins had long overrun the caravan defenders and took what they wanted. His beloved and his mother were not among the dead but he found his brother and father skewered on orcish spears...

They had been taken.

Blinded by rage he trailed the orcs, with bow, wing and claw they harried the greenskins. But the enemy was crafty, sticking to the thicker canopy and forcing Reniedir to land and face them. After several fierce battles, he was forced to retreat. Having recovered his beloved sword from a fallen orc. The next morning he returned badly wounded to find the aerial patrol encamped at the caravan site and his angered commander there as well. For disobeying he was stripped of his standard and demoted to a common Ranger. He had been discharged and thrown aside. To their fury his Hippogriff refused to leave his side, a bonded animal would not easily abandon its master.

This left him the ability to do as he needed to and he had orcs to hunt. The pair harried the orcs for a few years, hardly resting and doggedly looking for his loved ones. Sadly he never found them. Broken hearted with despair he went far into the depths of the Elven woods and spent years in isolation alongside his companion.

In his isolation he came into contact with spirits and fey, befriending them and learned their ways. To the point, he has a hard time now relating to people who are... real. Though the whimsical nature of the fey made learning difficult he did his best and learned some subtle tricks.

During that time his Hippogriff companion also changed, taking on a more primal appearance and when they emerged they were much fiercer beings. From their time in the woods, they developed a deep connection to the land. His skin is weather-beaten and tough, his demeanor is distant and often times he appears emotionless to others at first glance.

He does his best not to interact with the towns unless there is a great need. He helps weary wanders and the lost find their way home. Often depositing injured and unconscious people on the edges of nearby towns in Bishopric of Helm. However, the recent attack on Brookside by Orcs has made him stray away from the borders in an attempt to strike down stragglers left behind by their Warband.

Reniedir is a good person, however long years of isolating himself and killing have made him somewhat aloof. He relates more to Stormmane then actual people. However his kind heart is not completely
