(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Assuming we are in new round, and Hru is going swimming...
I'm assuming the penalty is now at -4, deduct the +1 for Bless spell...so -3

Rellios will once again try to finish the beastie off...

Rapier Attack (1d20-3=15)
Rapier Damage (1d6+2=7)
Sneak Attack (1d6=2) - damage if Sneak Attack still applies in this case.
Critical (1d20=12) - initial roll was a natural 18; I don't know if that applies with penalty. Even if it did, looks like I missed again on the critical.

Short Sword Attack (1d20-3=8) - assuming that's a miss

Still unable to complete his strikes effectively due to the boat's movement.

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

OK - so based on the penalty for the moving barge, my attacks are now at -2 (+1 bonus to offset)...

Rellios angles around to make a an unexpected strike...

Rapier Attack (1d20-2=7)

Short Sword Attack (1d20-2=18)

Nat. 20!

Critical (1d20=6)

Sword damage (1d6+1=7)

Sneak Attack (1d6=3)

10 total

He slips around a bit on the unsteady barge, but manages to sink deep with his short sword followup.

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Initiative order? Same again?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Forgot to add the negatives last attack...which I take it missed anyway...

Not to sound antsy, but are we at next round?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

I'll wait on Hro to act...want to give him his chance to strike for the "Glory of Gorum". If the bat still lives, then I'll give it a shot again.

By the way, since we are testing rules here...any deliberation on whether any of his attacks would be considered sneak attacks? Am I striking from a flanking position, etc? Just wondering if a giant bat would be affected by such rules...

Rapier Attack (1d20=15)

Rapier Damage (1d6+2=3)

Short Sword Attack (1d20=16)

Short Sword Damage (1d6+1=7)

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

ROLFMAO

"Don't hate me because I'm beautiful"...lol

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Based on what happens with Hru's action...

Assuming I am now able to attack, Rellios will pull his Rapier and Short Sword for a dual attack on the goblin, if feasible.

Otherwise, the bat gets his ire instead.

Rapier (1d20=4)

Short Sword (1d20=19)

Short Sword Damage (1d6+1=7)

Short Sword Critical (1d20=2)

Assume that's a miss, so no further damage. Did I do the critical attack correctly?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Rellios grabs at the rope from the barge, hoping that someone will take a crack at the bat and his goblin rider. He'll start to make his way back to the barge in any case.

Let's hope that goblin harpoon doesn't do anymore damage in the process...

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Thanks for the reassurance - glad it's not for naught. I'm worried about that goblin cutting the rope - so he's my target. So, I'm guessing that it's -4 for the circumstance, plus -2 for the 10' range difference? I'll wait for the next action declaration, but I'm dubious I'll try that tack.

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Since this climbing doesn't seem to be going anywhere...any chance Rellios can throw his dagger at the goblin?

Just curious how you would adjudicate? Attack roll? Another climb roll to see if Rellios can hold on?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Rellios continues to do his best to climb/cling to his rope in the hopes he can get out of the river in some manner.

Climbing check (1d20+1=15)

If that fails, then it looks like he'll need to start swimming - either to shore or the boat whichever seems more accessible.

Swim (1d20+1=8)

That doesn't look good...*Glub, glub*

As I survey the situation, I yell at the elf, "Try a climbin' the rope to the batty thing!"

My thoughts exactly! I am assuming a climb check is needed. Since there's no Use Rope Skill anymore - kidding on that ;-)

Rope Climb (1d20+1=15)

My boys! Yeouch!

Rellios scrambles up the rope as quickly as he can to get out of the water. Otherwise, he'll just hold tight knowing that hopefully the bat's flight will have to pull from going further downstream.

Rellios has a few options here. He can try to break the grapple at 1d20+CMB versus 15+target's CMB, attack while 'grabbed'(he's 'grabbed' not 'grappled'), or try to escape using 'escape artist' ... Ooops. Bet you wish you'd taken that one now, eh?

Yes, I wish I had - lol. Sorry for the delay.

I'll try breaking the grab: CMB (1d20+2=17)

If that succeeds, I'll next try to grab the rope. Have I actually been lifted off the barge?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

A more serious tone enters his voice, "My apologies on your kinsmen and circumstances, master Klyndak...I understand that such loss can change one's persepctive."

He gives a slight bow. "Great succes in our hunt, then...Yarr!," he utters at Klyndak's commentary on pirates.

Did he just say something about getting a throne...that's what we're bringing back?! A slightly confused look comes upon his face as he considers this further...

Rellios ... we'll use Pathfinder fast advancement (p. 9) so second level will be 1300xp not 1000xp.

Has everyone

... calculated their Combat Maneuver Bonuses and marked them on their character sheets?

... included racial hit dice?

... included extra hit point if favoured class?

... included one Varisian bonus feat?

... rolled Perception checks and initiative checks as requested?

1) Whoops..corrected!

2) I hadn't done this - I will do so now. By my estimate, my CMB would be 2 = +0 Base Attack Bonus + 2 Strength + 0 Medium Size. Unless there's something special about dual-wield that would affect it.

3) Check!

4) Check!

5) Check!

6) 4 of each in our main thread

The evening passed uneventfully for Rellios, although sleep was hard to get into at first...his fears leaving him fitful for a time. Thus, he over-slept somewhat - a quick breakfast and grabbing his gear in a mad dash...

Rellios jumps on board just as everyone gets settled in, and looks upon the barge they are traveling in. Breifly glancing about at the three dwarves and the orcish priest, a bemused grin crosses his face.

"Well, master Dwarf...looks like your motley crew is assembled and we're ship-shape. I hope you know where you're going...or will we be stopping to catch some pirates, first?"

"Aye, we're lookin' for a few good souls to 'elp us," I respond as I look over the elf with a critical eye.

"We'll be offerin' equal shares in any treasure we find, excepting fer the one thing we been sent to retrieve. That suit you?"

"Sounds good, Mr. Dwarf. Truth of the matter is, its been a little boring around here."

Diplomacy check DC15:

Spoiler:

Despite his casual demeanor, there's a certain nervousness apparent in his tone. It's like he wants to leave as soon as possible...

I hope this isn't too much RP...just trying to make it seem likely that he'd join up.

Hru Gorumgrag wrote:
..prounouncing in a deep booming voice, " I happen to be in current need of work right now, did I hear someone say share of the treasure? I'm, Hru a warrior-priest of Gorum Lord of Battle. Well," Laughing a little "let's say initiate of Gorum for now...for the lord must have his tests and his due...Ha! Ha! What say you?"

"I think we can say we'll make quite an impression wherever we go...for good or ill," he utters with a grin.

Klyndak wrote:

If the elf wants to play at being a scout - he can take point. Otherwise, the two Kannonfodder Brothers will take the lead, followed by the orc blood and then myself and the elf in the rear. I seem to recall the elf saying something before I left about using a bow. If he don't want to scout, he can plunk away from behind.

For experimental purposes, I'll give point a go initially. Elves don't have darkvision, so we'll see what conditions develop. If it seems less useful, then we'll switch and I'll follow in the back for bow shots.

"I'll take the point for now, Klyndak - never know what traps we might trip in a dwarven tomb. Let's see if can keep 'em from hurting us, eh?"

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

I'm going to say that Rellios probably spots Klyndak and the Kannonfoders in the courtyard, perhaps meeting them in the "Old Mess Hall" when he hears that Klyndak has need of some extra bodies for his expedition.

"Good day to you, Mr. Dwarf...name's Rellios. Word is that your looking to make a trip out of the Keep, and to the west - maybe needing some extra help?"

The elven fellow who introduces himself stands as tall as man, but is leaner with white hair and solid grey eyes. He carries slim blades (rapier, dagger, short sword), and wears a traveler's cloak over brown-black leather armor.

Appraise DC10:

Spoiler:

The cut and design of the armor mark it as being of Magnimarian, human design - there's a little more emphasis on flexibility over what the Korvosan style has shown.

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

No worries, short-stuff.

That's what bows and sneak attacks are for.

Plus, in the case of us elves, we can't be hurt if you can't hit us, can ya now?

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Klyndak wrote:

Rellios... while I understand tha' as a elf ya suffer from self esteem issues... yer 'it points is too low on yer sheet. Rogues in Alpha get d8 for HD.

And there's no such thing as ranks at the moment (subject ta change at the approval of management) so ya should just pick 9 skills and be done wit' it.

Tarren's original post said we were using Racial HP, per Alpha - Page 11:

Racial: Maximum hit points for 1st level plus your
Constitution modifier and any other bonuses. In addition,
you get a number of bonus hit points based off your race.
The frail races (elf, gnome, and halfling) receive 4 hit points.
Standard races (half-elves and humans) receive 6 hit points.
The hearty races (dwarf and half-orc) receive 8 hit points.

So: 8 (max d8) + 1 (Con Bonus) + 4 (Racial) = 13

Did I miss something?

Also, 3 more skills added; all others adjusted.

Thanks for the welcome, short-stuff! ;-)

Remember also that you get a Varisian bonus feat.

Great! Done as well. From the way I read the requirements, I thought it was just one feat, but the Varsian ones were an option to pick from.

(Male Elven Rogue 4)

Here's my Rogue for the Foray in the Foehammer Spires.

Working on some background - he'll probably be a Forlorn elf and has traveled to the Keep via Korvosa and Kaer Maga.

If anyone wants to review the character and let me know if I missed anything, that'd be fine.
