Reif comes from a small, nameless tribe on the outskirts of Bloodcove. Given the culture, Reif has been pretty independent since he can remember. The odd geography in and around town taught him how to navigate in the woods, and deal with animals. The tribe has a trade agreement with the pirates. They see this as mutually profitable, as they easily obtain the most exotic of goods. A relationship of mutual respect has been earned, and is sustained by fire and blood. On one occasion, the pirates tried to undercut an important merchant from the tribe. That very night, his house was casually burned down by a dozen tribesmen, Reif was even brought along to learn. There was no outbreak, no scuffle, just a bunch of laughing pirates and some avenged tribesmen. Reif was following the flames with his eyes and hands in a flowing motion. After a few moments, he jokingly raised his hands and widened his eyes, mimicking a large explosion. Oddly enough, a large explosion did occur, shooting some wood out into the street. Reif learned he had an affinity for fire and began to use it. His ability stretched like an elastic band with unlimited potential, growing stronger and stronger. One day, it occurred to him to get on a pirate ship and go. He owed nothing, and didn't really care much, as the basic unit of his tribal society was the tribe itself. He made it to the first stop, Chance and got off. Without many skills other than hunting and gathering, he had a bit of trouble getting accustomed to the urban lifestyle. When it came down to stealing to survive, he did what he knew best... he lit the local bakery in order to get inside. His problem was this, instead of getting in and out with what he wanted, he got preoccupied drawing circles in the flames with his finger. Needless to say he was captured before he realized what was going on. Quickly learning of the opportunity to serve in the watch, Reif attempted to smooth-talk his way into getting the job in order to pay off his sentence.

Reif will definitely err on the side of overdoing it, as he really really enjoys seeing the effects of his power.
