Apologies been unable to post whilst helping out at home, will post further once I've double checked Reg's stats

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Seen this posted under the discussion thread and thought I'd test out Paizo's own die roller

Reg filters through the crowds mingling as he slowly makes his way to the bar and gets a drink sticking to a flagon of ale as he tries to gauge how the owner's reputation matches with whats evident in his bar.

Reg keeps an eye on the others where possible looking out of trouble because all he has heard about this place seems only to underline just how dangerous this crimelord truly is.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Kessel Cobey wrote:

"I don't think it would be wise to split up judging the neighborhood, but you needn't talk or make any agreements going against your character. Remember we need information, and thus diplomacy is best, after we get what we need however . . ."
Kessel shrugs.
"At that point he's no longer needed. Take what you will from that statement."

"And the Field Marshal thinks we're trouble!" Reg whispers to Keen.

Was that Knowledge/Local check I made enough to get any details about this fellow Kessel wants to meet or do I make a diplomacy check to "arrange" a meeting?

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

What does Reg know about this spider fellow and his "lair"?
If Reg gets a Knowledge/Local roll got 1d20+4: 11+4 for a total of 15 if allowed

"I'd be even more careful than that, expect absolutely anything and remember this guy is very likely more dangerous than Gaedren may ever have been," Reg openly muses as he agrees with Kessel's comment at least in that this is going to be even more dangerous than both of their previous adventures were even combined!

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

"Some of us wish we were better at fighting too, especially as it might have prevented some very unnecessary bloodshed on both sides," Reg nods.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Kessel Cobey wrote:

"Forgive me for prying," Kessel says, "but your two fingers, did you loose them in a duel or teaching. As a bard I have been trained to be hypersensitive to the condition of my hands. Loosing even partial use, such as the minor flexibility issues that some laborers face, would be devastating. As a fencing instructor I suppose it's not as big a deal . . ."

Kessel pauses, looking over the man, wondering if he's over stepped his bounds.
"Forgive me, you are that Vencarlo Orisini, the renowned fencing instructor? I am new to the city and I apologize if you are not he, but it is my business to know these things and famous names to stick out."

Reg notes Kessel's comments and then pays closer attention when he refers to the gentleman's reputation thinking maybe he could learn a few things about improving his fighting style.

Bean wrote:

Always seem to be the last one in, I blame work!

1d20+6=11, 1d20+2=14 Doesn't notice anything

"Honestly I'm still rather new in your city. I traveled here from Sembia to check on a bit of a diplomatic mission between my church of Sune, and the local followers of Sharess. It's a shame that your city is having such a hard time lately, it seems quite the nice place -- and I imagine would be even nicer in better times." Bean chats as he walks with the group, "I must say a very beautiful people live here if the examples I've met to date are to be believed. Reg and Keen have been very helpful during my time here, and Euphengia -- may she be blessed -- had a very noble heart and soul. I haven't known Ms. Ashram long, but I must say she is rather lovely looking herself, and seems to be a very pleasant person."

Reg blinks hiding his facial reaction to Bean's words.

He reflects for all of a moment before returning his attention to the here and now over his rather violent childhood, being left for dead and barely surviving the last couple of days with the aid of about a half dozen other enterprising people unable to avoid the thought of where Bean had been during this time.
He eventually decides Bean must have included all of the bad bits with his remark about Euphengina so sincerely hopes Bean doesn't learn to his cost just how nasty a place Korvosa truly is.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

"Street brat trying to walk a better path, something that pretty much sums me up," Reg shrugs nonchantly.

Diplomacy check: 1d20+7: 8+7 for a total of 15

Just to let you know the last day I'll be able to post before I move home is going to be the 9th unless I find other means to get online. I should be able to get back online by the 25th or the 30th if what I've learned is accurate so I thought I better let you know just in case

Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote:

everyone You may make a perception check and a knowledge locale check if you like

Got a total of 19 for Perception (1d20+6:13+6) and the Knowledge/Local was truly dreadful! (1d20+4: 2+4 for 6) so I guess Reg still has a lot to learn!

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Just to let you know I'll be unable to post in a few weeks time until I can get back online once finishing moving home. This should be around the 19th of october but its also dependent on getting back online when the move is dealt with and yes my spelling sucks!

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

"I'm Chondathan by the way at least my dad was, but perhaps we ought to be moving on..." Reg points out.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Kessel Cobey wrote:
"I believe that would be wise," Kessel adds in a calming voice, Aid other on the diplomacy check Kessel turns towards Reg and Bean, "I'm sorry but we haven't been introduced. I believe you know my name, you are . . ."

"I'm Reg," Reg shrugs back.

"Its been a difficult week so you'll understand some of us aren't reacting as well as we should," he adds.
Leaning over to Keen.
"You noticed something I haven't?" he whispers.

Assuming it was something other than the remark about causing the riot which even Reg didn't care for, but he'd rather not have to fight his way out of the fortress if the Field Marshal decides to make an example of Keen

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Reg openly winces at the verbal sparring.

"Maybe we ought to focus on the task at hand rather than linger any longer on these painful issues," he suggests tactfully.

Diplomacy check: 1d20+7:11+7 for a total of 18, I think aggravating the Field Marshal any further won't help get the situation resolved but investigating the new situation might give us some leads as to who was behind Vancastkin or whatever he's called

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Kessel Cobey wrote:
"Pleased to meet you Keen," Kessel says shaking sorcerer's hand, "best to remember luck is a relative thing, many of the greatest heroes of the realms have been dealt blows that would seem unbearable tragedy to a lesser soul but with the will of the gods they have been able to rise above it. Best to remember 'whatever will be will be'. Best not to fret over things that are beyond our control."

"Life is too short," Reg sighs.

"Did Vancasterkin explain who or even why he threw away his career as he did?" Reg asks the Field Marshal curiously.
"The actions of those who served with him didn't match his later behaviour almost as if he was being used by someone else for their own purposes if not agenda," Reg notes.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Probably a good idea even if it only serves as a donation to the Red Knights shrine.

Am I wrong in understanding that the new version of the Raise Dead spell costs the person being raised TWO levels?

Its just that up this point I thought it was possible to get Euphengina raised if her player wants to but I listened to a podcast (Know Direction ep 1 I believe) and it sounded like it costs far more to be raised than before.

Sorry just checked it is possible to get Euphengina raised but it would cost her 2pts of Constitution as she's 1st level any chance we can have a response from her player on this?
Oh dear, and it costs at least 5000gp just for the spell components!

Reg sighs.

"Forgive me Field Marshal but we did actually try the diplomatic approach and it cost the life of a good friend," Reg points out.

"If your friend can help then by all means, but please remember that no plan survives contact with the enemy especially when they're sadistic enough to goad a crowd to riot even when approached diplomatically," Reg shrugs.

Bean have ya finished updating yet? Anyone else not updated?

So Reg will claim the long bow and arrows putting his short bow and quiver in its place, keen takes the dagger, bean gets the potion we total up whats left sell it and split the funds accordingly.

Any problems with that?

Oh is there something Celene wants to buy to make up for the fact there isn't anything in her size?

I was thinking of debating this bit to see what each of us thinks they need and see what funds are available after all if we go with what i said above that would be unfair to Celene.

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Reg shares his thoughts and grief over the loss of Euphengina.
Once this is done he'll get cleaned up and hopefully join in the prayers so he can seek some closure over the loss.
If possible he'll discuss the events of the day especially on the matter of the strange feeling he had when fighting Vancasterkin looking to understand about his abilities.

Don't have a problem with Keen over the dagger, about the only item there Reg is curious about is the longbow and arrows but is there anything Bean or Celene can use? Can the arrows only be used by a longbow?

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Okay updated Reg let me know if there's any problems with a Paladin/Rogue I should know about.

Also anyone claiming any of the treasure or are we selling off what isn't needed or not magic as the case may be?

List of loot from the fast search.
6 chainmail, 6 heavy steel shield, 6 longsword, light crossbow with 10 bolts, 120 gp

Vencaskerkin had potion unknown type
masterwork chainmail,
masterwork spear,
masterwork composite longbow (+2 Strength) with 20 +1 arrows[keen has time to detect on em]
Silver dagger[shows up as magic)

I figure the potion needs to be identified, but I suspect Celene can use the spear, she's also the only one who'll probably want a suit of chainmail if hers isn't already that good, Reg can use the bow but will have to sell off his short bow, does Keen want the magic dagger?

Is there anything there Bean can use or would he want the potion once its identified?

I suspect the rest could be sold off unless one of the others wants that light crossbow?

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

"I'm afraid I will have to escort my late comrade back to the Red Knights shrine so she can receive the proper final respects accorded to her, I'll return once I am able," Reg bows as he makes his way back to the shrine with Euphengina's remains.

So how do they split the money? Does Euphengina get a share to go towards raising her?

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Celena Ashram wrote:
Would Celena be included in the pay since she wasn't there originally and she is a guardsmen or are we just going with this to keep things simple?

Let him sort this out, I'm sick of this lazy, irresponsible, reprehensible, useless guards."
"Did you mention anything about Banites?" She asks sounding more than a little annoyed "and was he even there when the 'shindig' happened or did he show up later"

"One of those dependent on these vermin said something about her husband having been picked up by the Banites, I did try to find out more but the guy I mistook him for goaded them into bundling us I helped Bean outside and tried to help Euphengina but found out they were even covering the outside forcing me and Keen to flee carrying Bean to safety, I say we take him to the citadel before taking Euphengina to the Red Knight temple after all we owe him a trip there whether he was responsible for that mess this morning or not!" Well when I say miss something... obviously loot would be missed. Maybe you can just assume we loot and make some quick search rolls for us?? Or we can loot room by room and take another weak to clear this place out :P

In Reg's case retrieving Euphengina's body is more important but that doesn't mean he'll override Keen or Bean's search since that might help get her raised

"The question is why did he do is, why did his men provoke a riot this morning when he could have explained himself and at least avoid this confrontation?" Reg adds still trying to figure Vancasterkin out.

Sense Motive check i guess: 3+7 for total of 10 so no go there then!

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Okay, Reg's next action is to try and use the blunt end of his axe to inflict subdual damage on his foe, unfortunately his smite evil has now activated: 1d20+3-4+1 (if whats his name is evil I believe you have mentioned him as the one goading the crowd) for a natural 20, unfortunately the confirming roll is a total of 3 (rolled a 3 if the smite doesn't work) so the damage roll is 1d8+2+1: 2+2+1 for 5 points of subdual damage unless you rule the smite counts as lethal but I don't know if this is actually possible to do subdual damage with the reverse of his axe

Reg winces in pain at the jabbing spear's blow.
Unseen both of his worn holy symbols' glow with a blue and red aura which noticeably spreads out across his body as it reaches his axe arm as he reverses his axe to strike at Vandercaster its edge literally crackling with an aura of static electricity.
Reg shifts his guard up and maneuvers to let the others get their attacks in knowing he can't take this foe down alone.
The shimmering seems to fade, but Reg focuses on his opponent remaining unaware that the others can now see his two glowing holy symbols and that he isn't reacting to the effect at all.

Reg is unaware he has activated his smite ability, I believe this foe is the one who goaded the crowd and had a direct hand in Euphengina's death and whilst Reg is keen to take him in alive the above knowledge has unknowingly kicked in his ability just as it did when he faced Gaedren

GM: The two holy symbols' is just for effect only any idea what colour is favoured by the Red Knight?

(Male Chessentan human Paladin/Rogue 1st/1st)

Sorry missed this earlier but Reg had an AOO that missed and he took 10 damage from Vancasterskin's spear? if thats the case wouldn't Reg have had his normal attack?

Reg hovering over the sleeping form cover the mans mouth and as he stirred brings his hilt down quickly to send the man back to sleep. Tying him with his blankets keeps him out of the way of the coming events as the group is left standing looking at the light coming from under the door. Shadows move as who ever is in there paces the room.

Reg move's toward the door followed by Celena , Keen then Bean. As the door is pushed opened you get your first look at what lay's inside. A single large desk stands in the eastern part of this large office, transformed into a makeshift bed by a bedroll and several blankets and pillows. A table and three chairs sit to the West; several papers lie strewn over the table’s surface and a chamberpot sits under it. One of the papers is pinned to the tabletop by an exquisite silver dagger. A Man Paces by the tables. He is a handsome man who wears Korvosan Guard livery and armor. He looks weary, tired- the look of a make with to much on his mind and little sleep. He looks to be unarmed but a Bow and a spear lay on the table near by, this is the man from this morning.
"He turns as you come in and with a look of anger says "You!" in an venomous tone

Reg moves rapidly intercepting the former guard from his weapons and makes sure the others have a clear line of sight on this foe.

Raising his axe Reg approaches the former guard.
"Yield here and now and you get to stand and face your superior with whatever honour you have left, any trouble and I solemnly promise to drag you to them by your heels," Reg growls quietly.

Intimidate 1d20+4: 15+4 for a total of 19.

See that hits on my non good, and especially on my non lawful radars. Giving them over to a crowd is not justice, especially without a trial. While Bean wouldn't mind seeing them get something like that, it does cause the worry about what the people will do after, and that another riot/mob may cause further problems/ get the banites involved again in subduing people. However stopping them from reproducing and removing their ability to enjoy the act of it doesn't necessarily hurt them in the long term, and doesn't cause a huge ruckus either. Subtle, and I don't think these types of 'men' would really be the ones to complain out loud that their functions don't work properly anymore either.

Ah a sunite viewpoint, however for those people who depend on this place not to suffer as a result of our interference we'll need to ask them to take over the running of this business and hope they don't fall prey to the same vices as the current administration

Okay speaking of which what are your feelings on paladins' multiclassing?

Its just that now we have 2 paladins so to speak I was wondering since I've yet to read anything about it since the earlier edition stated once you changed class you can't proceed any further as a paladin so what if Reg picked a level of Rogue "if" he makes it to 2nd level since we short of a rogue at the moment?

Also when you say rebuild does that mean changing a characters' class entirely?

Was more thinking of multiclassing mind you but the way the group is developing it might be worth changing that bit.

Turning to the newcomer Reg shrugs,"Oh we were ambushed earlier and lost a friend who we've come back for, hopefully after we've had a word with them regarding the matter, by the way how did you come to be here in such circumstances?" Now if only he could master his new weapon but at the moment he's only hoping to survive long enough to remedy that particular problem...

Oh and he isn't yelling a battle cry or anything like that even he doesn't want all of those guards coming down upon them until the others are ready...

"Hope you don't mind but your cleaver wielding friend and me have some unfinished business," Reg quietly mutters as he confronts the butcher.
