Also, there's the circumstances in which the party meets the bad guy to consider. In many cases, parties will have drained some of their resources fighting their way to the end game boss, who's possibly fighting in his home turf, meaning henchmen, traps, additional gear and spell boosting, and other obstacles that the heroes must overcome in the end encounter. Enpeze wrote: Do their legions have devils as support units integrated? What do you think? I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in Cheliax: Empire of Devils that, even though Cheliax is a nation of devil-worshipers, the actual presence of devils is a rare occurence. With that in mind, I doubt that Chelish legions have support units consisting of devils. Possibly on rare occasions... Vigil wrote: I hope that a celestials book comes long after ALL of the fiends are covered. While celestials are occasionally antagonistic to pc's, it's not often enough for me to be panting eagerly for a 64 page treatment. Aye, I was thinking along those lines. It's not something I just have to have in my hands as soon as possible. I can wait until the more obvious villains have had their moment in the spotlight. Just that it'd be interesting to see it get the Paizo treatment. :) I really hope they'll release a variant of this series focusing on celestials. I've had some fun moments using celestials as allies and villains and it'd be great for celestials to get the Paizo treatment. That said, Lords of Chaos is one of the books of 2010 for me as I'm planning a Mendev/Worldwound campaign. Now we just need a Chronicles book focusing on that region. :D yoda8myhead wrote: If you have the pdf, you can use Adobe Reader 8 or earlier to extract the images. Adobe Reader 9 no longer has this functionality. Do you mean in general or just with Paizo products? I just tried extracting images from a Paizo PDF and a Wizards of the Coast PDF. It didn't work with the Paizo PDF, as you said, but it did work with the Wizards of the Coast PDF. Okay, so during our talks regarding the manifestation of my AGCB-related curse, Nick Logue was kind enough to mention that, if I hadn't done so already, I should definitely read Malleus Maleficarum (the nature of my curse has to do with Mendevian inquisitions). My question to you guys is, what oher Real-World resources would you recommend I get a hold of for my Pathfinder Chronicles games? I'm looking for anything concerning mythology, folklore, real-world events (such as the inquisitions), stuff about monsters (demons, devils, vampires, dragons, etc. etc.), and just about anything else that might enhance my GMing. Also, what resources have you guys at Paizo used for your research? Vic Wertz wrote: Everything we're expecting this month has now arrived, and the "hold for monthly" shipments are now going out. Am I correct in assuming that this process will take more than one day? I've set my subs to ship out monthly and they haven't shipped yet (heck, they're still in my sidecart). Steelfiredragon wrote:
It's been said in THIS THREAD dedicated to the Bestiary that some people have received their shipping emails so that would be a yes, I think. It's almost done. ;) Fraust wrote: So is this a different system than Dark Heresy or just a different approach to roleplaying in the 41st? I'm pretty sure it's basically the same system with certain enhancements to allow for space travel/combat and the concept of being a member of a space-traveling crew of gold-diggers. James Jacobs wrote: If you're worried about possible conflicts with future development, though, you can probably safely assume that there are wardstones all around the Worldwound, and that the focus of the demon vs. mortal conflict is against Mendev in any event. Nah, not terribly worried as it's my game. :D Still, it's interesting to know what you guys think. Wardstones being present in other nations than just Mendev was one of two things I was working with for an adventure I'm currently working on an outline for. Another was that the Mendevian Crusades serve to keep the demons from spreading in more ways than just the physical presence of holy warriors and the wardstones. No, in addition to the military presence, the extremely high concentration of paladins, clerics, holy relics and locations, possibly even quite a few more or less powerful celestial beings, serves as a sort of magnet for the demons, compelling them to continually throw themselves against Mendev, ignoring other more convenient ways to spread their unholy taint. Okay, so I've been wondering about this for quite a while, coming up with some possible scenarios. However, I'm curious if anything official exists that might answer my question. We know that the wardstones prevent the demons of the Worldwound from entering Mendev. But what about other neighboring nations? What prevents the demonic hordes from invading Ustalav, Numeria, and other nations? A few weeks from now, PathfinderRPG.dk goes live. That said, you might want to check out the Community Use Registry for a list of sites operating under the Community Use Policy. The Razor Coast. Mind you, it's still in editing and has been for quite a while now. Logue's working hard to get it done, though. EDIT: And the Dark Mistress is faster... If I hadn't signed up for the Pathfinder RPG subscription, this is one book I'd have preordered immediately. Even with more than a decade's experience as a GM, this is one title I'm very excited about. Sure, I can make up chase rules or rules about (in)sanity on the fly but it sounds like this book will give me those tools and more and I can just focus on roleplaying. Add in the 100 ready-to-use NPC stat blocks (give or take a few) and all the other great stuff and we have a winner! Andre Caceres wrote: I think the RPG line should have fewer books per year then the other lines (Paizo always said that the RPG was going to support the Adv. lines and settings, not the other way around) I'm pretty sure it was said somewhere (maybe in the Future of Paizo video?) that Paizo is planning on releasing 3-4 Pathfinder RPG books each year. That's considerably less than the other product lines Paizo have going. I'm currently working on a site that'll hopefully be a grand resource for Pathfinder games, including NPCs. I hope to have a version of the site available within the next couple of weeks and the plan is for the Paizo community to submit fan material to the site. Once done, the site can be found here. The first draconians were created in a foul ritual performed by Dracart the Black Robe, Wyrrlish (a cleric of Takhisis [the head honcho of the evil pantheon and the Dragonlancian version of Tiamat]), and the red dragon Harkiel. It was long believed that draconians were unable to breed true, but that is not the case. A clutch of female draconians were discovered after the War of the Lance and draconians are now able to reproduce. In fact, there's now a nation comprised of draconians called Teyr. As for Dragonlance 4e, I'm all for it. Even though I've made a decision to stick with 3.5/Pathfinder RPG, it'll be very interesting to see how Wizards of the Coast will approach Dragonlance in the 4e era of the game. Vic Wertz wrote:
Okay okay I didn't read the FAQ and this should probably be labeled as a stupid question...:) hazel monday wrote:
A sourcebook and a few adventures about Worldwound and Mendev and the Mendevian Crusades would be very high on my wish list. At the moment I have three favorite locations. The first is Mendev/The Worldwound. I'm fascinated by the Mendevian Crusades and the whole witch hunt/inquisition aspect it includes. It also has a certain Diablo feel to it. Other than Mendev, Orision/Katapesh is very much on my wish list for a Pathfinder Chronicles game. I love the stuff I've read about both nations so far. My third pick would have to be Ustalav because I'm a sucker for horror games. Another thing that might useful to people new to Golarion is the Community Use Registry, which lists websites dedicated to Pathfinder. Of course, the material contained in the sites listed in this registry is unofficial but once the sites develop they may become invaluable resources to any gaming group playing in Golarion. James Jacobs wrote: It means you can only use the artwork as-is. You can resize it, but only if you keep the aspect ratio; no resizing it only vertically to cram the artwork into a narrow spot, for example. No photoshopping your friend's face onto Seoni. No adding additional flourishes to the Sihedron Sigil. No taking a map we've posted to a blog and adding in additional furniture. That's what I thought, thanks for confirming. :) The Community Use Policy looks great! Now I can finally get my fansite project on the road. One question, though. The policy states that we may use text or artwork posted in the Paizo blog, excluding certain items such as photos. Does this mean that we modify this artwork to include in banners, logos, and other forms of graphics we produce for our site? Or does it mean that we can use the artwork as-is and that we may not alter it? I'm currently working on something very similar. Once it's ready it'll be located on pfrpg.dk. I'm really just waiting for Paizo to come out with some sort of fansite policy that I think they've been working on. As for your site, I like the simple design. Easy to use as a visitor and I'm not distracted by all kinds of bling. Lookin' good. As far as forums are concerned, I think I'll just to this community from my own site. I'd like for my own site to be part of this community and not its own little thing. As a Danish superscriber to Paizo's products, I'm always forced to pay the extra fee whenever I receive a package from Paizo, and I've stopped counting the times I've cursed the Danish Postal Service and wished them (them being the boss dudes, not the man on the floor) all kinds of unpleasantness. I could just unsubscribe to some of the products, but I'd rather not see that happen. If the fee continues, I'll probably be forced to. :(
