Familiar Tattoo (Su):

A tattooed sorcerer gains a familiar as an arcane bond, as a wizard equal to her sorcerer level. Her sorcerer levels stack with any wizard or witch levels she possesses when determining the powers of her familiar—this ability does not allow her to have both a familiar and a bonded item.

Unlike most familiars, his familiar can transform itself into a tattoo that he carries in his flesh. Transforming into a tattoo or back to normal familiar form is a move action for his familiar. In tattoo form, the familiar looks like a stylized version of itself, but does not count as a creature separate from the tattooed sorcerer. In tattoo form it continues to grant its special familiar ability, but otherwise has no abilities and can take no actions except to transform from tattoo into creature. A familiar tattoo cannot be erased or dispelled.
This ability replaces her 1st-level bloodline power.

Bloodline Arcana: Whenever you apply a metamagic feat to a spell that increases the slot used by at least one level, increase the spell's DC by +1. This bonus does not stack with itself and does not apply to spells modified by the Heighten Spell feat.

Background

Born to a family of Varisian wanderers, Rauno was birthed in the small town of Sandpoint after his family's caravan broke down. Deciding to stay in Sandpoint while they saved enough to fix their wagon, the Kaln's integrated smoothly with a majority of the local Varisians. Unfortunately, not holding any ties to the Sczarni didn't guarantee an easy time integrating with the rest of the townsfolk.

While his family lived around the outskirts of Sandpoint, they would frequently make visits to the town's center to trade for the wares they needed. Being Varisians who were not local, Rauno's family faced much prejudice from many of the townsfolk, who held no love for the Szcarni and were suspicious of the Kaln family's reasons for being in town. As a result, during his childhood, he had a difficult time making non-Varisian friends and spent much of his youth with other Varisian boys. Raised a firm believer in Varisian culture, Rauno spent time with his grandmother, who taught the boy about the mystical talents that many Varisians have learned to tap into. These lessons, coupled with his natural curiosity resulted in the introduction of his natural arcane talents at an early age.developed rapport with many of the townsfolk and were even able to built a good merchant-client relationship with the Kaijitsu's, a move that ultimately helped his family find a firmer foothold in the small town. Through his father's close ties with this founding family, Rauno met Ameiko. At that time, both were only 14 years of age, but Ameiko's youthful confidence and exotic features drew Rauno to her. Over the following years, they spent alot of time together and though nothing romantic came of their friendship, Rauno continued to harbor feelings for her that he couldn't come to express. Unfortunately, the wanderlust of his people took hold of his family and they left Sandpoint to explore the opportunities that could be found in other parts of Varisia.

Years past with Rauno continuing to learn about his sorcerous abilities and immersing himself in Varisian traditions. Learning about the magic that his people were able to embody in their mystic tattoos, Rauno, to adapt such magics, learned the traditional art form of tattoo magic. As he grew, he developed the arcane talents hidden within his blood so that he could perform miraculous feats. This abilities he used in defense of the wandering caravan. His supernatural ability to identify geographical landmarks assisted in keeping the caravan on course.

The caravan's journey coming full circle, Rauno found himself and his family returning to Sandpoint. Upon arriving and walking through the still familiar streets of the small town, he was greeted by a sense of returning home. Discovering that many events that had befallen the town in his absence, he found himself wishing he had stayed to help the town through the ordeals it had faced. However, what he found invigorating was the feelings that rose to the surfaces when visiting the Rusty Dragon. The inn had been nothing more than a run down old building when he was last in town. However, Ameiko had turned it into a successful business. Meeting up with Ameiko again caused Rauno to feel a longing he had nearly forgotten in his time on the road. However, still unsure how to deal with these feelings, Rauno was quick to accept a position on the Rusty Dragon's staff. Through his time helping Ameiko at the Rusty Dragon, Rauno began to learn more about the enigmatic girl from his childhood and he found himself going out of his way to earn a smile from the Minkai woman.

Through his work at the Rusty Dragon he was able to catch up on all the events he had missed while he was away. Though he was glad to be back among friends and family, he got the sense that his new boss was not quite at ease. This feeling started to affect him as well and he found himself once more wishing to see what else was out in the world.

Personality

Boisterous to a fault, it is easy to see how it is that Rauno has so many friends within Sandpoint. His life as a Varisian has taught Rauno that is is better to work things out through diplomacy and cooperation than threats of violence. However, should he see someone take action that offends his sense of good, he is the first to speak out against that person and he is not above bending the law to find the culprit of a crime. Rauno accepts people for their flaws but condemns for their actions and his life living with his Varisian family has taught him the benefits that honeyed words can bring.

Description

Spoiler:
Decked out in the layered, brightly colored clothing of his people, Rauno's feet are shod in dark brown boots. His brown hair is kept loose and frames the olive complexion of his handsome features that gives away his Varisian heritage. Peeking out through his loose, blue shirt is the face of a small animal painted across his collarbone. Once his shirt is off, it is evident that the small face is part of a larger tattoo that depicts a mongoose splayed out in a relaxed fashion across his shoulders and around his neck. Rauno always seems to wear a smile on his face and his hazel eyes are bright and seem to take in his surroundings.
