About Rall KirnastWhen Rall Kirnast applied for a job as a deputy sheriff in the town of Falcon's Hollow, he brought with him a glowing letter of reference. Spoiler:
Dear sir or madam, It is with great reluctance that I recommend to you one of my finest guardsmen. Reluctance I say because the City of Oppara can barely stand to part with a man of such high moral standards, diligence, compassion, courage, and dedication. His intelligence has been proven time and time again as he has solved crimes that have puzzled many of our finest officers. His compassion in the way he handles victims of crimes has been a credit to his fellow guardsmen. When he informed me that he desired the challenge of bringing law and order to smaller communities, and the closeness and familiarity with the people he protects that could only be found in places such as Falcon's Hollow, I did my best to change his mind. Being unable to do, I release him to you. I hope that you will employ this fine young man, Rall Kirnast, and find him as exemplary a guardsman as we have. Sincerely,
P.S. His considerable charm has been of great benefit in cases where women needed comforting or protection. You may wish to assign him to duties such as these. Of course ...
Spoiler:
The letter of recommendation is a complete forgery. Corrik Saern was actually the guardsman who first arrested a much younger Daern Coshan many years ago and from whom the young scamp had managed to steal a guardsman's seal and some letters. He never made much use of access to Corrik's identity until now. But, recently, he found himself in need of a new identity ... Having run into trouble with a local crime lord (HOW WAS HE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT YOUNG THING WAS HIS WIFE??!! AND THAT NECKLACE SHOULD HAVE FETCHED A HECK OF A LOT MORE BUT FOR THAT GREEDY FENCE!!) he has adopted the name 'Rall Kirnast' and fled the city for a life of absolute anonymity in a town where nothing will ever happen to bring any attention to him whatsoever. I mean seriously, Falcon's Hollow? What could happen in Falcon's Hollow? He 'took 20' for the forgery check here making it a DC27 to spot ... Since moving to Falcon's Hollow, he has successfully found employment as a deputy sheriff. Much to his surprise, he enjoys being (just barely) on the right side of the law. He doesn't get nearly as many assignments comforting young widows or protecting young women as he would like but it's an honest living ... well, kind of honest. DEFENSE
