The sailor life was Railina's since the day she was born on her parents boat, Juranis' Wisdom. She grew up working on the boat with her parents and their crew. About ten years ago now, one dark summer night at sea Railina was startled out of her sleep by loud crashing and crew members yelling. As she ran to the deck she could see large tentacles wrapping around the boat splintering the planks. At the moment she saw her parents run toward her, one of the giant tentacles swoop down and knocked both of them overboard into the dark sea. Enraged and in shock about what had just happened, Railina bent down and picked up her father's rapier which was knocked from his hand moments before. Running toward one of the constricting tentacles, Railina plunged the blade deep into the flesh. The second the rapier penetrated, the tentacle let loose and flailed back with Railina on top. She was tossed far into the air and hit the mast then fell toward the sea, but never letting go of the rapier. As she awoke, Railina found herself on the docks of Ptolus with no recollection of what happened after hitting the mast. Since that night she never heard from her parents or Juranis' Wisdom again. Now she spends her time working on various boats and trying to figure out how she lived. The only thing that stands out so far is her new found ability to focus magical energies into various spells, which she believes developed because of whatever happened that night.
