I suspect that most clerics of Aroden have become clerics of Iomedae, his greatest servant, who is one of the few mortals of Golarion to travel through the Starstone and gain a measure of divinity herself.
Hmmmm, traveling through the Starstone and gain a measure of divinity... I smell an AP: Paths to Immortality....
Ragadolf, are you referring to the sacred fist prestige class from Complete Divine? Levels in the PrC stack with the divine spellcasting class as well as monk levels for purposes of unarmed damage.
There are six of us in our party in Flamifur's Shackled City PBP here in the messageboards:
Erion Gilor, male grey elf wizard
Jessa Ventris, female half-elf druid
Kellen Wrensler, male human paladin
Niklaus Wright, male human ranger
Stilgar, male half-orc barbarian
Zoomackulas Eichendar, male human rogue
Thanks for the quick response. I'll take your suggestions and plan my pbp game. It's probably going to be a horror campaign with liberal use of the book of vile darkness and other related literature.
I hope you'll join me once I'm ready to host the game.
I have a copy of the Gazeteer, and I found it very informative. However, it was published before SCAP. Hence, you won't find any mention of Cauldron in that book.
You might wanna check out "From the Ashes," though. It's available here at Paizo.
I do hope they come out with new stories of Inquisitor Eisenhorn (Xenos, Malleus and Hereticus) to complement the release of the rpg.
I read in Kodt that there are two more expansions: one detailing exploration (rogue trader); and the SPACE MARINES (Deathwatch). Hope they're successful.
Flamifur, kudos for the wonderful intro. Everybody represented, as well as their respective deities, I believe. Can't wait to start...oh silly me, we already started here in the discussion thread... it's apparent that we are all excited.
being color blind may have a crucial impact in the adventure itself. for example, if your pc is supposed to defuse a bomb and you had to choose between the red or blue wire. that i think is a bad time to be color-blind.
I'll put up a list of samurai families to choose from in a while; how do people feel about rolling Spot, Listen and Search into just Perception, and Hide and Move Silently into Sneak? Seems to be easier as well as freeing up skill points for you.
Jessa Ventris (FabesMinis) - Druid
No Name (thereal thom) - Ranger
No Name (Eichendar)- Rogue
No Name (Alex Martin)- Fighter or Paladin ?
Erion Gilor (PsionicFox) - Wizard
No Name (Radavel) - Fighter (Eldritch Warrior)?
That look about right to everyone? We are so going to lay the smackdown.
A veritable wall of blades, indeed.
Flamifur, if it's alright with you, I'll withdraw the "eldritch warrior" option and just play a half-orc barbarian using the berserker strength alternative class feature in PHB II, with an eye on entering the "sanctified one" PrC, as per Complete Champion.
Spoiler:
the abilities of the PrC are
- chaos warp (su): 1/day ignore a successful critical hit; luck of battle (ex): 1/day you can choose to roll d20 twice and use the higher of the two results; sanctified strength (su): gain sacred bonus to Str equal to twice your level in the PrC for 1 round.
Blessing of Kord - at dawn every day, you can choose to gain either: +2 bonus to Str; +2 luck bonus on all saves; or +10 foot bonus to speed. You cannot change this blessing until the next day.
By the way, the Ultimate Magus PrC is cool. I'd like to play one someday.
I noticed that the the eldritch juggernaut and fortification alternative class features both replace the fighter bonus feat at 18th level. On the other hand, there is no alternative class feature for level 16.
Is this intentional?
If yes, then you can't take both eldritch juggernaut and fortification, correct?
And there is no alternative class feature for level 16.
I don't have access to my Dragon stash at the moment so you'll have to explain in painful detail the alternate features before I can decide - might be easier just to say no out of hand but I'm eager to please.
Thanks to the guys at Paizo, the Eldritch Warriors article in Dragon 355 provides the following:
Spoiler:
Armored Savant - replacing 1st level fighter bonus feat; you ignore weight of your armor for purposes of calculating encumberance; and your armor slows you as if it were one category lighter than it is. This is a supernatural ability.
Bonded Armor - replacing 8th level fighter bonus feat; you bond with a specific suit of armor through a ritual; allows you to don or remove the said armor as a full-round action; also, as long as you are awake and can move freely, the armor grants you a +1 insight bonus to AC; insight bonus increase to +2 at 14th level; +3 at 20th. This is a supernatural ability.
Eldritch Grace - replacing 4th level fighter bonus feat; you gain evasion against spells and magical effects as long as you are unencumbered or lightly encumbered. This is a supernatural ability.
Eldritch Juggernaut - replacing 18th level fighter bonus feat; while wearing medium or heavy armor, you gain spell resistance equal to 11 + your hit dice. This is a supernatural effect that does not stack with any other spell resistance you have.
Fortification - replacing fighter bonus feats at 10th, 14th and 18th levels; beginning at 10th level, when wearing heavy armor there is 25% chance that any critical hit or sneak attack scored against you is negated and damage is instead rolled normally. The negation chance increases to 75% at 14th level and 100t% at 18th level. This is a supernatural effect that does not stack with any other fortification you have.
Warrior of Air (as this option I plan on taking, I'll not be posting the others, i.e. Warrior of Earth, Fire and Water) - replacing figther bonus feats at levels 2, 6, 12 and 20; at 2nd level gain electrical resistance 5, which increases to 10 and 20 at levels 12 and 20, respectively.
Starting at level 6 gain ability to cast featherfall as a spell-like ability three (3) times per day. Caster level equals fighter level. In addition, you deal electrical damage on a successful critical hit with an unarmed strike or melee weapon. You deal +1d6 at 6th, +2d6 at 12 and +3d6 at 20th.
Starting at 12th level, you may cast freedom of movement as a spell-like ability once per day. Caster level equals fighter level. At 20th level, you may cast it 3 times per day.
Note that you can't TAKE both fortification and eldritch juggernaut as they both replace the 18th level slot. (I suspect that this is typo as the 16th level slot is still open, but with no official errata on the matter, we'll just have to play them as is. Perhaps, I'll ask the guys at PAIZO.)
These alternative class features makes for a more self-reliant fighter.
Whichever way you decide on the issue (please, please say yes), I plan on playing a half-orc.

I'm not into the Flaws thing simply because The Shackled City Campaign uses it's own which I'll decide based on background just before we start - so that one is a no I'm afraid. Sorry.
Looks like I'm in... I'd like to play a fighter but would it be alright if I used the alternative class features presented in Dragon, i.e. Eldritch Warriors article?
Also, can I use flaws? I need the extra feats in the event you allow the alternative class feats option...
I noticed that you put the symbol of Asmodeus as being the Ruby Rod on your character's sheet, Radavel. The Paizo guys actually put a list of holy symbols on the Paizo Blog, and Asmodeus's symbol is a red pentagram (for now, at least).. This is, I'm pretty sure, because the whole ruby rod thing is fluff owned by WoTC.
Thanks for the advise.
Arctaris, I'll make the necessary changes to my sheet to reflect this.
The very title of the newest adventure path, "Rise of the Rune Lords," suggests that epic characters existed at one point in time in Varisia. However, where are they now?
Other than the fabled "Rune Lords," are there other epic characters?
Do you agree with the view that being "epic" in Varisia (Pathfinder) is not just a matter of accumulating sufficient XP?
I have a ton of 3.5 material both from WOTC and Paizo, which I believe is enough to sustain a couple of campaigns for several years.
Further, with all due respect to the people at WOTC, the quality of the material that they have released the past couple of years generally pale in comparison to the content Paizo was able to provide through Dungeon and Dragon.
So unless there is a reasonable assurance that 4ed. will equal or even exceed the quality of content that I have come to expect from Paizo, then I would have to remain with 3.5 ed for the meantime.
The turn check (d20 + lvl + cha) shows the largest HD creature the cleric can turn. The turn damage check (2d6 + yadda) shows how many total HD the cleric can turn.
M
Just wanted to clarify that:
Turn Check is a Charisma Check (1d20 + Charisma Modifier). You don't add the cleric's level to the turn check. However, the cleric's actual level is the constant value to which you apply the positive or negative modifier that is mandated by the Turning Undead Table, depending on the turning result. The resulting level of the cleric after the application of the modifier is the highest HD that that cleric can turn.
Turning damage on the other hand is 2d6 + cleric's actual level + Charisma modifier.
In fact I will be running two Greyhawk-based events at GENCON this year: Warlock's Walk (Maure Castle) and Bottle City, which was an original level designed by me for the cmpaign all the way back in 1974.
Is Warlock's Walk a heretofore unpublished level of Maure Castle. If so, any chance that would be available as a published adventure?
I love running Maure Castle adventures ever since one of the PCs in my campaign died within 3 minutes of entering the dungeon.
