"Ya looky here Sydly, these bastards murdered my mates and killed some of the finest lasses of Magnimar, Your gonna stop me from murdering them I's don't think so, fair fighting my ass! I'll cut out your heart if ya gits in the way of my revenge! So go cast a line and fish whatever ya gotta do, I got knife work to do and souls to send to the nine'o hells!"

Rackham mutters sidelong to the elf.

"I am just as unhappy about this as you are, but you must learn patience. Justice will be brought to those deserving."

Sorry, I've been gone for the past couple of days.

Rackham lowers his hands at the mention of parlay. Though he rankles at the thought of compromising with these brigands, he's no fool, and in his weakened physical and mental state, as well as the fact that the only tactic left in his arsenal would destroy the ship, he realizes that there are no other options. Still, the look in his eyes would be enough to kill a small dog.

Seeing the massive Sooj descend into the hold, Rackham does the only thing he can. He levels his arm at the pirate. A red light begins to glow in the old man's shaking, downturned palm- at first a pinprick, but swiftly growing to the size of a cannonball. It shudders in the throes of some sort of thaumaturgical containment.

"May the fires of righteousness cleanse your soul. Hallowed be the Lady."

Rackham turns his palm upward. The ball of light speeds from Pulsifer's grip, swerving unerringly around barrels, crates, and corpses. It impacts Sooj squarely in the chest with a dull thud, dissipating into a spray of red sparks.

Magic Missile (Sp); damage: 1d4 + 2 = 5

Are Pulsifer's school powers affected by the drug?

"Were I not..."

Rackham bends down, picking up a discarded dagger. He stares at the Deceiver, eyes full of righteous anger, but in the end, Rackham does nothing.

Pulsifer strains even more at his chains, but in his weak and drugged state, his struggles are in vain.

Strength check: 7 + 0 = 7

"There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor!"

Pulsifer, in a peak of hallucination, strains at imaginary chains, not realizing Ryor removed them moments ago. When the swell hits he goes slamming into the bulkhead at D3, which wakes him up a little.

It's too late for me to be posting on PbPs. That's two f+!!-ups in a row. I think I have a problem with my brain being missing.

Rackham staggers to to the nearest section of hull. Bracing himself against the wall, he shudders with drug-induced delirium, clutching his head and retching.

Still manacled and straining at his restraints, Pulsifer begins chanting anew, louder this time. His eyes roll back into his head eerily.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Lady, and the Word was Iomedae. The same was in the beginning with Her. All things were made by Her; and without Her was not any thing made that was made. In She was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not..."

Blood drips from his nose onto the decking.

"'E's making it up as 'e goes!"

Yeah. Haven't read the Paizo blog in a while.

Wasn't Iomedae the herald of Aroden...? Oh ya, he's on drugs.

Exactly.

Fortitude: 8 - 1 = 7. No dice. Well, not literally.

The strange, white-haired man can be heard to mumble something over and over in his half-dreaming state. No one can be certain what, though...

"...and as I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil..."

The motion of the boat, combined with the saffron drug, are too much for Rackham's frail body. He vomits explosively, a bit of blood mixed with the acid. Shuddering and gasping, he sits back against the hull of the ship, still staring into nothingness.

He speaks in a croaking, raspy voice.

"Something... Something wicked this way comes..."

The Chelaxian girl screams as if burnt.

S%~*... Maybe a different bulkhead...

Rackham just keeps staring at the bulkhead.

DC 35 Perception:

Spoiler:
Tiny, pinhole-sized scorch-marks have appeared on the bulkhead directly opposite the old man.

Fortitude: 2 - 1 = 1. Nice.

Rackham stares at the bulkhead. Must be one fascinating bulkhead. Either that or the drugs.

Now, a whopping ELEVEN hit points. My AC and HP are THE SAME NUMBER.

Done.

Stats done, background written up and lying on my desk at home.

Just FYI, the reason Rackham seems a bit unsuited for the class is detailed in the background.
