Vindication! My internet finally went out in the house, during fixing there were multiple simultaneous issues including DHCP issues, which means it wasnt my nook after all, just like I tried telling my mother who wouldnt believe me, of course she does have 3 decades worth of experience so I began wondering, but now I know my initial thoughts were correct, and no my connectivity issues are no more (until the next storm knocks it out again)
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
Ive been having connectivity issues and they seem to be getting worse, and with extra work recently, I have yet to figure out why but Ive had entire days of no connection yet my grandparents roku seems unaffected, just my nook. In anycase, I have tommorrow off to try to find out why and maybe fix it. After that for fri, sat, and sun, I will be doing some special work and wont be able to post whether I get my internet problems fixed or not. Hopefully, Ill have internet fixed by monday.

Sweet, so my run is 20 paces, so... Quinn runs all out to get ahead of the other tiger and box him in, running how ever many paces achieves that best. If she can encourage him into a dead end of an alley, awesome, otherwise she try to place herself between him and escape, or at least force him towards better (for us) ground.

Im not gonna hate on ya. Im not much of good player when it comes to pbp, but it is my only available way to play right now, and my life is rockier then a mountains backside, so I understand. I play on rpol too, though I dont know if Ill try to get in your other game yet, though Ill certainly finish this here.

Sorry to be waiting on my rolls, but i havnt got back my copy of the books, I need to hit the library for a real computer to do it then drop them on my nook, but I got dragged away on family business this weekend and didnt make it there. And like an idiot didnt even think of looking up my past posts until as I was writing this, so I will edit this with the rolls once I find where I used them previously. Edit;

"The Gang Fei!" Quinn yells immedietely hoping the sage catches on fast enough, as she readies water, and shoots it at the other tiger, hopefully giving the sage time to get out of the way. Quinn may not have the poison, but there is only one purpose to the asssassins stance. Now I need to go find the book again

Right, stall tactics and diversions generally avoid all out fights when being used on individuals. Really there is a couple of folks it might be as target and if it is the old man Quinn talked to (not an unlikely target) then Quinn has a vested interest in keeping in him alive.

The spell isn't being super effective vs Quinn, she is just busy at the store front, focused on her task ignoring minor distractions like people chattering away far off behind her. "Natalia, circle around the right and we can pinch in the sides too keep it from spreading then close in to meet in the middle." Quinn notices Natalia is distracted and notes to self to ask her about it later.

Quinn immedietly uses her fire magic to cease the flames, assumeing I can do that. If not she will use water hexagram to dowse the flames. mind and observe: 1d4 ⇒ 21d8 ⇒ 3 Appearently I'm too busy putting out a fire, but once the fire is out I'll use air magic to clear the smoke and look for anyone inside.

Quinn considers the old bat for moment, then answers him, "My family has an unusual history, and unusual ways. We were a warrior nation long ago, we allied ourselves and eventually became part of the great empire. Since we were allies we kept many of our older traditions that would normally have been stamped out by conquest. My house favors ability, and we lead by example."

If you want to give some ooc hints, or such I can always give Quinn a flash of insight. Right now the only reason I as a player know there is anything else to do is because of your suggestion for hints (aka I am not seeing it as player thus I cant pass it to my character) but if I know what it is, I can guide Quinn towards it ( being a DM and having spent over a year with six games a week, I am good at dealing with metaknowledge.)

I think a jumpstart would be helpful, though mayhaps I am simply missing something. Currently I know about being attacked by dark magic, the nobles were holding the pantheress hostage while searching her room, and that about sums it up. I could ask the pantheress what the nobles may have been looking for but I didn't think it would help lock them away since they didn't get it.
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
When he is after her last comment, "Or the hair could belong to on of the bats. Did you see how his eyes and his mouth were acting differently? His eyes held fear, much more then he should have when speaking so defiantly. I didn't notice at first but he did seem to be giving two different reactions."
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
"Well, we are going to speak to her now. She is looking at some serious offenses, I am sure we can get something from her. Let us leave for the moment Natalia. We can speak to him after we speak to the other one, when the examination of the evadence is finished." Once in the hall, Quinn will wait for Natalia and speak to her out of earshot of the rooms either bat is in. "Natalia, the grey hair, could it be from the pantheress? Is there a way you could tell for sure?" Who all is with us? I figure one of us should find Delroy. I think our time limit here is probably a lot tighter.
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
Okay here goes, Quinn asks the captain to bring Mr. Bat to a seperate room so they can be interogated seperately. Assuming this can be done, Quinn interogates the Mr. first. "You were caught in the process of searching someone else's room in conjunction with the lady bat who used both illegal, and deplorable, magics and who held a hostage. I presume that you would face a bit of trouble from your peers if they knew you told me anything, so if you answer my questions truthfully I will not let your accomplice know that you told me anything. It will save us time and since I have no needfor her to know I don't mind allowing you to save face, however if you don't answer my questions I'll get my answers from you the hard way and let her know just how easily you broke and told me everything. I don't know what punishment awaits you in this kingdom but I'm sure your accomplice and her friends will think up something suitably worse for your betrayal, which I will fantastically portray to her. And I know enough to convince her already from that box, there are just some holes to fill in. So why don't we start with the goal and work our way backwards from there..." During this whole talk she is "absent mindedly fiddling" with some fire and metal. If he is forthcoming, she will question him calmy but forcefully for everything she can mostly in the form of having him tell it as a story and asking questions to fill in the blanks, usually questions like "What then?," "What about _____,?" and similar, asking for specifics when needed. The idea beingif he tells it as a story he will drop extra clues without realizing it since he is also providing context for his story. If he is not forthcoming, Quinnwill try to be a bit less intelectual and quite a bit more predatory, and if that doesn't work...well that fire and/or metal might find itself imbedded somewhere, not that she is actually trying to kill him, just rough him up a little. A bit out of character but Quinn could always go in and start grilling except speak only in her native and play bad cop. It would be a bit out of character though. :) I should probably have posted this earlier, I apologize. Honestly I am not sure how to continue from this and Quinn would be taking cues from the others particularly where the law is involved, more so because the accused are nobles.
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
Quinn examines the boxes dimensions just in case there is another secret compartment . "I have to agree with the Modanna. We should wait for Delroy. It is his job and training to hunt down illegal magics." Quinn turns to Natalia, "Do you think we could use some form of magic to identify who this hair comes from? You said it might be a...synochodel link though weak, could it be used to identify?"
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
"Well if the pantheress was the plant, then why was she screaming for help? Then again she did act rather odd in the aftermath of the incident. Once the fear passed she scrambled fast as possible to our hosts side and looked as though not a thing at all had happened." Quinn looked thoughtfull, and played with her as though drawing lines between things only she could see. So what color were the bats? Who all had grey fur?
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
Well I missed it. Still I think its the police turn to speak but oh well, i have something to work with now. Quinn takes the box and gingerly looks it over. Then she looks to the officer, "May then see if the bat did indeed have the key, and see what's inside?" she asks somehow without being obvious about handing the box towards Rosza.

I think the court scene is actually the perfect time to purchase my noble gift. As being a witness and actively involved and claiming to be noble, a decision would have to made whether Quinn is to be considered as such or not. So I suggest this is the first time Quinn has been involved with the authorities beyond customs (if they have those yet) so now is probably when Quinn grabs her patents and shows them off to the court to settle any debate. If that works for you anyway. (It does require selling fast mover however as I only have three xp to spare unless I can wrangle two more from somewhere.)
Tiger Taoist, Sworddancer
Quinn looks at the door the burser left through, then after a moment pulls out her notes and a pen. Several sheets have names and dates and one has the symbol from the book with a comparison to the tube's symbol. On one of the emptier sheets Quinn draws a couple words that she remembered from the book. "Not from Zhongguo though, that's why I wanted to ask you about them. The first time I wrote these words they translated themselves."
