If you take the fight defensively action on your turn, then drop the weapon you were fighting with as a free action do you still gain the AC bonus from fighting defensively or do you need to continue to wield the weapon to gain the AC bonus?

At my game last night we are exploring the darklands on behalf of a huge dwarven metropolis. We had trouble remembering the name of the Dwarf town and half the time we just call it Dwarfopolis. So the idea popped into my head to call it Dwarfstantinople. Any way, that led to the song by They Might Be Giants. I reworked the lyrics and felt I should post them on here in the hopes that someone more musically inclined than I am could put together a nice Youtube parody video.

Lyrics:
Elfstanbul was Dwarfstantinople
Now it's Elfstanbul, not Dwarfstantinople
Been a long time gone, Dwarfstantinople
Now it's Elvish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Dwarfstantinople
Lives in Elfstanbul, not Dwarfstantinople
So if you've a date in Dwarfstantinople
She'll be waiting in Elfstanbul

Even old New Orc was once New Halfling-Land
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Dwarfstantinople
No, you can't go back to Dwarfstantinople
Been a long time gone, Dwarfstantinople
Why did Dwarfstantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Orcs

Elfstanbul (Elfstanbul)
Elfstanbul (Elfstanbul)

Even old New Orc was once New Halfling-Land
Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way

Elfstanbul was Dwarfstantinople
Now it's Elfstanbul, not Dwarfstantinople
Been a long time gone, Dwarfstantinople
Why did Dwarfstantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Orcs

So take me back to Dwarfstantinople
No, you can't go back to Dawrfstantinople
Been a long time gone, Dwarfstantinople
Why did Dwarfstantinople get the works?
That's nobody's business but the Orcs

Relevant new text:
Religion: Characters can elect to worship any deity listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic, or any other source listed as an official Additional Resource. Characters may elect to worship an evil god, but must always be within one alignment step of their chosen deity. For clerics, this is an especially important choice, since the deity’s alignment determines whether the cleric channels positive or negative energy, a decision with significant tactical implications for the cleric and her allies. Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, and samurai of the order of the star must choose a deity as all classes in Golarion that receive spells and abilities from a specific divine source receive their powers from a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. The list is not exhaustive, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources to the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign will be required to choose a deity unless otherwise specified. Otherwise, characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all.

With this new set of restrictions does that mean my paladin can no longer worship Nethys? More specifically does the alignment to deity restriction only apply for evil deities as the text implies?

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way for me to add shrink item to my half elven bard's spell list. I'm asking here because I'm not too familiar with the companion line of books and didn't see anything in the pathfinder hard cover books, but could have easily missed it if it was there.

Thank you in advance.

I'm a little confused on whether or not Awesome Display allows an Oracle to exceed the HD limits imposed by spells such as Hypnotic Pattern.

As an example, let's say that the BBEG (Oracle 7 Cha 18) hits the party consisting of 6 5th level adventurers with a hypnotic pattern, and being a naughty party in "fireball formation" they are all in the AOE of hypnotic pattern. For the example we'll assume that the entire party failed their will save and the oracle rolled a 5 on their 2d4, for a grand total of 12 HD worth of fascinated creatures.

The two ways I can see this going are:
1. Awesome display has no effect on spells that do not have a HD based tier of effects (like Color Spray)
or
2. Awesome display reduces the amount of HD required to affect a creature. So that in our example each member of the party would only count as 1 HD (5 HD from levels - 4 HD from BBEG's CHA mod).

Awesome Display:
Awesome Display (Su): Your phantasmagoric displays accurately model the mysteries of the night sky, dumbfounding all who behold them. Each creature affected by your illusion (pattern) spells is treated as if its total number of Hit Dice were equal to its number of Hit Dice minus your Charisma modifier (if positive).

Hypnotic Pattern:
A twisting pattern of subtle, shifting colors weaves through the air, fascinating creatures within it. Roll 2d4 and add your caster level (maximum 10) to determine the total number of HD of creatures affected. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first; and, among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Affected creatures become fascinated by the pattern of colors. Sightless creatures are not affected.

A wizard or sorcerer need not utter a sound to cast this spell, but a bard must perform as a verbal component.

Color Spray:
A vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from your hand, causing creatures to become stunned, perhaps also blinded, and possibly knocking them unconscious. Each creature within the cone is affected according to its HD.

2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)

3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.

5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Thanks in advance for your input.

After searching the message boards and finding several complaints about the Terrain Mastery rogue talent being too strong I found myself questioning my reading of the ability.

Terrain Mastery:
Terrain Mastery (Ex): A rogue with this talent gains a favored terrain as the ranger ability of the same name, though the favored terrain ability does not increase with her level as the ranger's ability does. A rogue can take this ability multiple times, each time applying it to a new terrain, and granting all other favored terrains a +2 increase to the favored terrain bonus.

The way I understand it, the ability retroactively increases the bonus to all favored terrains.

To clarify: If at level 2 I take Terrain Mastery (Forest) and at level 4 I take Terrain Mastery (Underground) it is my understanding that at level 2 I have a +2 favored terrain bonus in forests, at level 4 I have a +4 favored terrain bonus in forests and a +4 favored terrain bonus while underground. I read it as, my choice to take Terrain Mastery gives a static increase to all the other favored terrains I have no matter when I gain them.

Basically, my reading of the ability means that as long as Terrain Mastery is your only source of Favored Terrains, then your bonus to all favored terrains will be equal to 2n where n is the number of times you have taken Terrain Mastery.

Thanks in advance for any answers given.
