Over-arching political groups are what I'm going for when it comes to secondary companies. I'm in the process of covertly creating several groups that will start and grow once the game starts instead of beforehand. Included are the White Council (good magic practitioners) Winter and Summer Courts (courts of the Fey) and some others TBA. These companies will grow into enormous political powers that will not hold land of their own and aren't meant to declare direct war, but rather use others to gain power. For example the White Council may request a seat in most settlement's politics and the Winter Court may use a Chartered Company as a way to perform a proxy war against the Summer Court.

Someones been reading a wee bit too much dresden files

I forget the exact post but he specifically said if you are say level 20 and walk away from your keyboard you can be murdered by a couple of level 5s. You do have to pay attention during any combat not just rely on your level

I think our forums so far are among the least toxic and most informative i have ever read so far. And frankly the spell to summon an instant personable information junkie is quite handy. So I also hope the game has enough content to keep avid Rpers happy and rabid pvp junkies

I'd really rather not see the game limit how much time I can spend online. I'm an adult, if I get a long weekend and want to have a gaming marathon, let me. It is not the job of the game, or of Goblinworks to monitor my health.
I think longer online times can be monitored with unobtrusive pop-ups that confirm you are a human, like those captcha things or "which animal is this a picture of?" If the pop-up is not answered, the account is auto-logged off and the very first thing that pops up when you re-log-in with that account, 15 minutes after that log-in is another one. That way, the owner of the bot will have to at least spend some time dealing with it.

I also agree id rather the game not limit my time online, I work heavily for 5 days and tend to game heavily for 2. Also I welcome bots, They will feel the sweet sweet sting of my arrow, or my partners blade in their guts

Good to know

If say your friend donated 175$ and plans on giving you the second account does the second account get access to Daily deals or just the primary account?

that's freaking hilarious, I love it

I love this idea, having my own underground city supported by my loyal minions..... I mean followers would be awe inspiring

Goblin Squad Member

I agree that it should be possible to hide them, but id also like the ability to share it as well

Ive liked the idea of a choice on soulbinding gear. For example you found a + 3 club of kitten punting , and you think wow I really like this weapon. So you soulbind it and its no longer sell-able or tradable .

The assumption is the weapons or armor that are your favorites are the ones you actually take care of each day, stitching up the holes, cleaning the leather, sharpening the blade and what not.

Hey I love realism as much as the next person but oh hey I got mugged by an overweight white elf, isnt as useful in a fantasy realm where they can change shape , color, and texture ; by means of disguises, magic, gods, and mud. Also sometimes it helps to remember peoples names. I met an awsome cleric in DDO , he rarely spoke and was the shyest person id met in an MMO, but I offered him groups and guild runs.

When he finally opened up he become one of our best clerics in the game, and one of the family in our guild, and we all loved him. if I had no reference material to keep contacting him, how would I have those memories.

If we cant communicate, then the game fails

Im all for rogues finding a house in the middle of nowhere and robbing it blind if its unprotected. or random npc encampments, but if I pay for protection and build a house inside the main city, it should be for the most part impossible to steal or destroy

The problem here is: Time spent online

You can't expect players to protect their stuff 24/7 and you cant expect player organizations to protect stuff. A player should never go log off, go to bed, wake up, and find all their stuff gone and their house burnt down. The only way to accomplish this is through purchasable NPC protection, or making player structures require permission to enter(SWG).
Agreed.

Also agreed, I work 4 days a week during those 4 days the extent I can be online is all of an hour a day while I eat and drink and prepare for sleep. I cannot afford to be online during the other 23 hours

I truly love that idea Nihimon, one of my favorite manga was Yureka which is all about an mmo people play mostly while their asleep. The main characters have been around forever and have maxed 2 typical classes allowing them to do so much more together than they could have done solo.

I also would really prefer to know what I can do ahead of time, making an uninformed decision kinda sucks

My personal favorite of westfall is Gnoll paws......... HOW ARE THE GNOLLS HOLDING SWORDS IF THEY HAVE NO PAWS....... AAAGGGHHHH nerdrage

Goblin Squad Member

So much promise for this game it almost makes my head hurt, and yeah multiple buildings as you put out there Nihimon sounds awesome

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Whats wrong with a little free market economy? I frequently make extra gold off of stupid people

Goblin Squad Member

Hey now that 1/10000 chance might be my lucky day. but yeah slaughtering that many pigs would take quite a while.

I would imagine youd find rare loot outside though especially from evil necromancers lairs, dragon lairs and what not, but I anticipate youll need loot from the crafters on a daily basis to adventure

Goblin Squad Member

I plan on making an adventuring guild with the assistance of my friends, I figure while out and about in the wide world we will recruit people with no homes but those of similar goals and enjoyment of slaughtering monsters wholesale and stripping their lairs bare

Goblin Squad Member

raising a favorite weapon through crafting or enchanting is an excellent idea but there is possibilities of your hypothetical boar having a ring inside him as it ate it and the hand attached to it off of an unlucky adventurer. I agree said boar having a + 5 Holyburst sword of wounding bunnies! isnt likely but some stuff could easily be in the guts or s+&$

Goblin Squad Member

I agree a system borrowed from mumble would be the way to go, but I would be concerned with the bandwidth when theirs 50 people in the same room

Im rather curious what type of alignment checks and balances their can be in an MMO setting, I was hoping to roll a paladin out of the gate but how can they enforce my ideals and if I can choose my god, wouldn't that also allow me to choose even harder ideals and rulesets to moniter?
