About Professor T. A. Forthlake
Professor T. A. Forthlake is an adjunct lecturer at Almas University, Andoran. He is the son of an old family of half-elven vintners. His parents are still alive and tending the family vineyard just outside Carpenden, but Forthlake has rarely been home since he was old enough to set out on his own. While serving a tour of duty as a navigator in the Andoran navy, he discovered a knack for learning languages and getting along with different cultures. His travels also sparked an insatiable curiosity about peoples and civilizations, while teaching a keen appreciation of the freedoms and way of life of Andoran. After the navy, he attended Almas University, where he received degrees in history, naturalism, and anthropology. His mentor at Almas, Dean Thistlewaite, recommended him to the Pathfinder Society. Since his Confirmation, Prof. Forthlake has mounted a number of expeditions to Garund, exploring Osirian and Mwangi ruins, his chief area of interest.
Forthlake stands about 5'10", 180 lbs., and is physically very fit. He has dark green eyes, short, dark brown hair, and sports a bushy handlebar moustache. In the field, he wears a well-oiled and weathered brown leather jacket and breeches with high-laced boots and, occasionally, a pith helmet. He carries a stout blackthorn walking stick. Hanging from his belt is a large knife; slung over his back are a backpack and a fine-tooled leather quiver.
