Well, crapola. I read the wrong list, and posted the wrong stats when I made this post yesterday. I hang my head in shame.
Seriously. I suck.
The REAL stats are:
15
14
14
9
9
8
total +3
So not nearly as chock-full-o'-FAIL as the first numbers I posted. But not much better, either. I really like the gnome or kobold ideas, those would be much fun to roleplay :-)
So, tweak at will!

Well hello there kids! Long time no see, I know, but hey, I've been in prison. No, no, just kidding, I haven't been in prison. I've been...IN SPACE!
Yeah.
So, it appears that our merciless SCAP campaign is about to wrap up at Lisa's place, and we'll soon be starting the RotR adventure path. Last night I rolled up a new character, hoping that I could run a nice sorcerer, and here's what I rolled:
14
13
10
9
9
8
As the ancient Egyptians used to say, this sucks. Sure, 14 in CHA, the other two in CON and DEX, but still, man, what a sickly sorcerer. Looks like we'll be playing with core rules ONLY, so that's much easier to deal with...but to be honest, I haven't read any of the RotR stuff yet (that would be cheating!) and I'm in need of some assistance setting this fellow up. So, I turn to you, the knowledgeable masses, They Who Know All...
/fawns
Any ideas how I should proceed? Feel free to apply as much cheese as you see fit, but remember, core 3.5 only, standard RotR races, I'm not opposed to playing halflings or gnomes if necessary, etc.
Let me know!

FYI, I'm leaving at stupid-thirty Saturday morning to head back to Ohio, where I shall R&R for a couple of days before loading up trucks and high-tailing it to Indy, and GenCon. Then I'm sticking around for a ten-day vacation after that, visiting the ever-so-exotic locale of Troy, Michigan, then driving back to Seattle. While I will be checking mail and whatnot on my work laptop during that time, I don't know how much time I'll have to make more posts - it IS GenCon, after all.
Then again, at this rate, there won't BE any new posts while I'm gone...
Boss, if you need me, you know my email address, feel free to ping away. OR just come to GenCon and hang with the Paizo crew! :-)

For the newcomers, my biggest piece of advice is this. Use GenCon as your chance to break out of your gaming "Mold". Try an RPG that nobody in your area plays. Always wonder what "7th Sea" was like but never had a group to play? Now's your chance to test the system. If you like it, you can get into it more. Play board games that you've never heard of but sound good....
Also, block out some time during a day to wander the exhibit hall. If it's your first time I'd recommend at least 3 hours. It will open your eyes to the wild world of gaming in ways you never would have expected....
Finally, they're probably already all filled up, but if you can manage to get in to a True Dungeon, check it out. The event is expensive, but it's definitely something you want to try out. This is especially true if you can get a group of friends into the same slot, which is of course even less likely this late in the registration process....
This will be my, err, 22nd? maybe 23rd Gencon, and every year it's different. However, the above advice for first-timers is quite good, especially the first bit about trying new stuff. The exhibit hall this year is rumoured to be almost 50% larger than ever before, so it'll be fun to watch. And as for True Dungeon, yeah it's great but tickets can be very, very hard to find. Unless, of course, you're the guy who was the kilt-wearing gatekeeper at the show two years ago :-) Man that was fun!
Come by the Paizo booth and get spendy with us!

I think at the time AoG was a start up, or at least had less than the experience of other veterans and it had a rough launch. I won't discredit the game, still own it, but errata was published in fits and starts, and there were some real points of contention.
Then again, I am asking about Mongoose's stuff to see if I want to dust off Babylon 5 Wars or not, so don't be too heartbroken
Agreed. When we first stated, we hadn't the slightest friggin' clue what we were doing, other than we were all Starfleet Battles and Battletech players, and wanted to do a cool B5 starship combat game. The second edition was a masterwork, but you're right,t he constant addition of races and silly weapons and rules just convoluted things. Fleet Action was equally slick, in a different way, and (had we done it) FAII would have been simply kick-ass.
However, if you're looking to get minis, the vast majority of the sculpts and molds being used today to make Mongoose B5 minis are exactly the same ones we used at AOG, so you're in good hands either way!

SO yeah, last weekend was the Origins International Games Expo in Columbus, and we managed (with much delay and drama) to get about a dozen preview copies of Pathfinder Vol. 1 printed and out for display. Even though I'm the sales manager, and share an inner office wall with the Editorial Pit, I still up to that point hadn't actually SEEN anything on the inside of a Pathfinder, just the cover. SO I yoinked a copy, and read it on the plane home.
Great googly moogly.
You kids are gonna LOVE THIS STUFF. It is far and away the prettiest, best written adventure book product of ANY kind that I have held in my greasy mitts in years, perhaps ever. It gave me chills on occasion realizing that not only is this thing uber-high-quality, but that we will offer a similar book of the exact same high quality every single month, without fail. To think for a second that our editorial and artistic staff have been working so hard on this thing, as well as the GameMastery Modules, while simultaneously cranking out the final issues of DRAGON and DUNGEON...it's enough to bring a tear to my eye.
I say this not as a loyal Paizo employee and Official Paizo Mouthpiece. I say this as a gamer, and as a consumer of game products across the spectrum, lo these past 25 years: this thing kicks unbelievable amounts of ass.
Get thee to your local store and ask - nay, DEMAND - that they carry it. Kill if you must. If that won't work, then grab thee a month-to-month sub and revel in all the sweet, sweet Paizo goodness you'll get in your mailbox every 28 days. You will NOT be sorry.
