Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"If you really feel that way, would it be smart to take that tone? If we were really 'all the same' I mean?".

Pendrick scratches his head: "I'm not.. we're not.. Guardsmen. We have to improvise, and that means using whatever we can to stay alive. What do you expect a faen and mojh magister to do when they get within a giant's reach of fancy magic? I mean, look at her go, she'll have read your little book in the time it would take me to make out the first words!"

Pendrick clears his throat:

"Listen, I'm sorry for a lot of things that happened here tonight. But look, we're all still alive...I'm Pendrick, pleased to meet you on this side of Ironthumb's fortress."

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick stops and stares blankly at Leagar for several seconds.
"Maybe this isn't the time to get into it. But...WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? You weren't saved by Angel's Wings tonight, it was us, and we were happy to do it. But PEOPLE DIED,and it easily could have been the four of us! And now you're giving us cack about your malevolent little homoculous, and not a word about sparing a bobber to help heal those who nearly died in your service ..."

Pendrick pauses for another few seconds:

"You know, you're right. You owe us nothing. Good luck in the future."

oops, this is a response to Leagar's response to Pendrick's request for cash...it looks like it could fit here to. Pendrick is angry.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Oh ho, here we have it!
Pendrick gives the Verrik another crack on the head: "in case he's listening in and faking it" he explains.

sense motive 1d20+1=4
"Is this about the little statue? No need to worry, we murdered it while we were looking out for your interests. Speaking of your interests, I'm surprised there's been no mention o' the clinky sort of gratitude?"

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick has a 6 to search the room!
Using the materials at hand, on the sibeccai corpses and whatever clothing the now-naked Verrik can spare, Pendrick methodically hogties and gags the Verrik.

The knots completed, Pendrick tilts his head to the side and purses his lips for a second. Snapping his fingers, he pulls a club from his pack and delivers a pair of solid blows to the back of the Verrik's skull subdual damage
"That'll do, that'll do"
Whistling softly, Pendrick sets about collecting the bodies of survivors and victims. Turning the room where Tzu fell into a fortified hospital ward, and the room with the Sibeccai into a morgue.

If Keiva wants to rest and memorize spells, Pendrick can block the door and keep watch. In the morning we should be ready to send for help?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Yay!
"Bravely done Keiva! I thought Ironthumb had abandoned us there...my faith was lacking." He looks down at his shaking, bloodsoaked hands: "Sorry about that Keiva, the legends are pretty vague when it comes to carnage" Pendrick smiles tightly,
vague so idiots like me will take up the sword with thoughts only of glory...still, still a breathing idiot
then nods to himself and grins.
"Good to be alive Keiva, good to be alive!" Still smiling, he belts the Verrick on the head with the pommel of his sword and, after a glance around the room, pulls shut the door and searches his fallen foe.

what do we do now? Perhaps we bring everybody inside and then send for/go get a Greenbond to come and help?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Thanks, that's what I thought. The recovery information for the Verrik confused me.
No worries Tzu, Pendrick thought about kicking him in the head, but reasoned your character's issues will be resolved one way or the other before the Verrik has a chance to trouble us again. It's quite the ethical dilemma deciding what to do with him should Tzu die.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"Keiva, help Tzu, I'll do what I can to fold bandages and help"
Pendrick jumps to the aide of his fallen comrade.
aide another 1d20+1=9 ooops! Hopefully Keiva will pull through without Pendrick's 'help'. Tell me more about this recovery of non-lethal damage...has Pendrick had the opportunity to shrug off some of the ice-ball from the first fight?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

overloaded boards kicked me out once already, I'll try to recap and make it quick
Pendrick stares in shock as his friend hits the ground
soren, tzu...this looks bad...I think he killed her!
Ashen faced, the Warmain throws himself at the Verrik; using his grief to power an extra surge to his attack.
Pendrick will charge if it is possible. If he can't charge the roll is: longsword 17 to hit and 11 points of damage. If he can charge it is 19 to hit and 16 points of damage. Either way he'll use his final combat rite to take an extra +1 to hit this round.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

congratulations on the engagement. moving...yuck!
I finally ordered a hardcopy of Arcana Evolved! I'm excited to read the magic system. So far I know witches can throw balls of ice, and low-level hard-core casters drop dead as often as in the regular version...and no-one heals...ever!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

initiative roll: 1+1=2 uh-oh, this is gonna hurt

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick silently stares down his verrik adversary.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"We are absolutely horrible stone-cutters too, and that's just as beside the point. We ARE interested in justice, and have proved slighter better in the area of 'not-being-killed' than your minions. Since you have all the answers, let's hear your take on the situation"

Pendrick makes sure his gore-encrusted sword is visible during his speach. Afterwords he glares, tight-lipped, at the verrik.

intimidate 19+1=20 (a great roll, yet somehow I think Pendrick will be lucky to crack this nut)

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

going camping for a week. see you on the 17'th. feel free to drive Pendrick like he's a rental!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'Maybe there's a reward for their capture?'
'Anyway Keives, can't grill a corpse...well, you can but I hope you get my meaning'

Pendrick squints hard, and works on loosening his muscles, frozen from the first frosty ball

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick has 8 hp left (and 8 hp in non-lethal damage). Definitely staunch wounds and see what these two have to say before venturing onwards. Ransack this room too, try and find what all the fuss is about?

'Huh!'
'Nice slice there Tzu, the scar's gonna give you some character. Shall I stand guard while you and the lovely Witch tend to these bit...ladies?'

Pendrick rests his head against the doorframe for a moment and then assumes a watchful position just inside the newly reclosed door.

'Let me know if I can help...'

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

to hit: 19+4=23, crit confirmation: 4+4=8 (so ends the run!)
damage: 3+2=5

'Still time to give up, Scout. You have my word we won't harm you.'

Pendrick seems sincere, but the surrounding carnage and the concurrent stabbing of his conversation partner might not help as much as he hopes.

'Come on, join the winning team!'

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Wow, what are the chances...I changed a diaper in the middle of the post. To hit: 20! critical confirmation: 20! (I know the chances on that, 1 in 400!) Not sure how you are running criticals. But damage 5+2=7 x2=14 (or rolled twice:(5+3)+(2x2)=12)

Finding a moment of clarity in the battle, Pendrick retreats behind his shield to avoid the explosion and extends his longsword, allowing the hound to impale himself upon it.

TA-DA!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Cats! Cats are cool, they never stopped fighting. Dogs, well, their well known racial tendencies might cut a bit close to home for our former guardsman. I rolled an 18 before modifiers, so Pendrick is still standing. With the new map I noticed there is a Puppy in range, let me know when Pendrick can attack him (have readied action)

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick will ready an attack for the first Dog to come within range

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

muttering: 'ouch, stupid dogs' and loudly 'BAD. DOG. Keiva, I can't wait to see how your magic is going to save the day.'

oops, sorry about the last avatar!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick aims a cut at the nearest Sibeccai jeering 'kennel or slab, it's your choice...Rover'. After his attack he focuses on defense, weaving a careless but oddly effective or so we hope pattern of defensive strokes.

to hit:11+4=15 damage:4+3=7. Using a combat rite to increase his ac by one to 17 until the start of his next round (2/4 for the day)

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick's assault takes him 5' into the room...
are the Sibbecai armed? do they look like thieves or do they look like servants? do they cower in fear or look ready for a tussle?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

A feral grin spreads across Pendrick's face as he explodes into the room.

initiative roll: 16+1=17 yay for good rolls!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

reflex save:14+1=15

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

woulda shoulda coulda practiced these moves!
Pendrick looks back and forth between the doorknob and Tzu's face several times before, in a highly exaggerated manner, mouthing 'three'. He then slowly mouths, 'one...two...three'.

Spoiler:
If Tzu tries to open the door on three, Pendrick will burst through and make a decision about what to attack then. Here's hoping the door isn't locked!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'Psst'. Pendrick catches his companions' attention and points to the door where the sound came from. 'change of plans'. He moves to the door ready to burst through when his friends are in position.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'A quick listen, a look, and then down the ladder and to the door across from the door we took into the hallway'. Pendrick listens intently, then comically ducks his head into the hallway before climbing down and moving 'silently' to the door.

listen check: 19+1=20. spot check:2+1=3. Pendrick is checking to see if an ambush has been set up in the hallway. move silently check: 4

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'I've got a little blast damage, but I'm feeling better with every passing minute. So let's tuck Soren in a corner up here and protect him by clearing the rest of the thugs out of this place.'
Pendrick begins to arrange Soren so he is comfortable and hard to see if someone casually pokes their head up into the loft.
'Grab your carrot quiver Tzu, there's baddies to slay!'

did anyone notice if there are any other doors to the outside of this 'warehouse'? If all y'all want to hang out up here, Pendrick is in, but waiting two hours to spend a spell and trade unconscious spellcasters seems like a weak position - and likely the robbers will finish their business and at a minimum find the folks we left outside. So Pendrick says take the fight to the thieves.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

is there somewhere we take take Soren for healing?
'Maybe we can pool our gold and buy some healing for our friend? I've got one g.p..."

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick gives the statue a final smack for good measure and goes to his friend's aid.
'Forgetting our deal? I take the bruises, you make something of yourself'
...something indeed: recently transformed into a willing slave of our ancient oppressors; currently a battle casualty. I'm sure glad you know what we're doing old friend.
damage to statue is 2+3=5, heal skill check is 16+1=17...assuming we drop out of bullet time. I don't think there's anything I can do with a successful check now that he's already stabilized, but if I can, I will

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'Third time's the charm!' Pendrick pulls himself together long enough to get off a decent attack at the wee statue.
attack roll: 15+4=19 (longsword) damage: 8+3=11 (d8)

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"Eyes...itching...Ahh.aaah..choo!" Pendrick, chokes, stumbles, and rubs feebly at his eyes with the edge of his shield. His dismal parry barely protects him from a vicious, albeit imaginary, assault launched by the wall.
what manner of sorcery is this? it's like that dream of swimming in honey I used to have when I was a boy
"I... I tink we've been entanted" spews a barely coherent Pendrick.

ANOTHER natural one. I'm not going to roll damage, for fear you'll apply it against Pendrick!

Spoiler:
I think Pendrick is allergic to Tzu

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick grunts his way into the loft, readies his sword and shield and attacks the wall. don't know if I can do all that and attack, but the attack roll is a natural one
"This is your last chance to surrender!" An obviously confused Pendrick shouts, looking back and forth between the animated statue and the decidedly inanimate wall.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Can Pendrick beat on the statue from his current location (say with a one-handed-weapon)? Is there space for him to climb up and attack?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"I'm coming up if there's space? I don't wanna miss another tussle!"
Pendrick flies up the ladder, keen to see what is going on in the loft.
and just in time for the next explosion/brain melt. If there's no room in the loft, Pendrick will continue to watch the doors with a readied action, but from the base of the ladder

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

initiative roll 19
Pendrick moves so he is close to the ladder, looking at both (unopened) doors, and immediately adjacent to the nearest (unopened)door to the ladder. He prepares to stab any toughs that come through the door.
a fabulous talent for being where the action ain't

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"I'm no magician, but this seems to me to be a job for our fair Witch and my pal Soren". If it comes to blindly pulling the top off the box, I'm your man. Until then, I'll stand here listening and guarding"
listen rolls: 15, 1, 17, 20+1=21!.....we're off to Seattle this week. I hear they have internet access, but I won't be as avid a participant. Back on Friday.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick hands the precious sunrod to Tzu and prepares to follow her up to the loft. I think we're beyond surprising anything in the loft, but I can wait here and guard the door if you'd rather?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"Go go go!" Pendrick smiles to himself as he mouthes the words. ahh, outside of the law, but doing better work, what a strange and wonderful world!
He makes random, idiotic gestures with his shield before telling Tzu; "you go right, I'll go left" And he does.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"Through the door!"
After waiting for the rest of the band to arrange themselves thoughtfully in the warehouse, Pendrick opens the latch and then pushes the door open with a foot.
spot roll d20=13

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick makes his way oh-so-sneakily d20 roll=12 to the door in the south wall. He then listens at the door. d20 roll=9

Spoiler:
he doesn't hear anything

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'I've got a sling that might work to bind his hands', Pendrick offers. 'Here, ooh, ooh, almost, there you go'. The sling loops around enticingly before flopping down next to Tzu.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

This website has a DIRTY mind! What about 'Pendrick pricks up his ears'?

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick cocks an ear towards the room as well.
10+1=11
'Seems clear' he whispers to Tzu. 'Hang on while I dig out a sunrod for you to carry./
given enough time...
'Here we go. Good thing I forgot I had you on gambling night little feller!' Pendrick offers the sunrod to Tzu with a grin. "Forgive a simple guardsman for assuming you won't need all your pointy bits at the same time?"

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

After comparing his own armour with that of the thug, Pendrick kindly leaves the thug's clothing alone. However he does remove the thugs weapons and shield - strapping them on as best he can while humming a happy tune.
"Shift a talon, there's a good Tzu. Perfect, never know when a nice shield like this'll come in handy!"
Pendrick readies his borrowed sword and shield and prepares to enter the building.

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

perhaps others are better suited for this task?
Pendrick nods eagerly at Tzu's words and keeps nodding as the pause grows awkwardly long.
'a'right then!...' he sheathes his sword and gives the goon a thorough and unkind search 'let's see what's here eh?'
if required I rolled an 18 for the search check

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

"Likewise Tzu. Uh, if there is any healing available and it looks like there isn't I could use some freshening up - maybe your prey has something tasty on him?"
if we have no healing, lets get this over with and burst into the building

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick flushes.
'I was bluffing Tzu, a fair fight's one thing, but carving a blighter up like a roast...gotta draw the line somewhere, right?'

'Speaking of fair fights...' Pendrick draws his sword with an awkward flourish '...can you give us any more information mister? Like how many thieves, what they are wearing, what they are carrying, what they are here for?'

While talking, Pendrick watches the door, his hands worrying the grip of his sword. First through the door, first through the door!

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

Pendrick spends a few moments at the end of the alley; standing still and listening to the noises of the night. Wonder where he was going? Seems odd for a well equipped professional to box himself in like this. And no back-up?
Still puzzling, Pendrick sheathes his sword and walks back to the alley.
'No rope here, money's been tight since my change of career - why doesn't Tzu just sit on him, they seem to have developed a special bond'
Pendrick clears his throat: 'If it's really important, I could break his legs? Lemme know, I'll be right here, watching the entrance to our alley'

Pendrick (Male Human Warmain 1)

Fighter

'You're coming! Fantastic! You can protect me - us - from that villain's awesome magic powers.'
Pendrick races through the night, enjoying the rush as he pushes his body to its limit. He has no thought for stealth...if there is an ambush waiting, they better know what they're doing!
thanks for coming! hopefully this'll be exciting...and work out well
