Mother: Barmaid, Father: uncertain
Raised By: A kindly Grandmother who filled his head with stories of the 'old days'. Including rather detailed accounts of an ancestor who was among the first slaves to throw their lot in with the Giants. The stories are given extra weight by the existence of a signet ring, said to have been given to this illustrious ancestor by the Giants in appreciation for long and excellent service.
While he acknowledges this story and the ring's provenance are both highly unlikely, Pendrick chooses to believe every word of his Grandmother's tales. And he was willing to pay her for the ring. These tales, filled with glory, sacrifice, and nobility have fostered an difficult, almost unworkable worldview for Pendrick.
Optimistic, good at following orders, and not too bright, Pendrick has been an exemplary member of the City Guard for the last four years. Slowly it has dawned on Pendrick that as a Guardsman he is just a member of another of Khorl's gangs. Perhaps that Oathsworn he knows has some connections to another line of work, something a little more...heroic?
