Thoughtform is a cool concept, but mechanically your build will not perform the way you wish it to.

You are absent Strength, Stamina & Fighting, yet you do not have Immunity to Fortitude effects. This means that you are still subject to things like Suffocation, Diseases and such.

Oh huh... I thought immunity was included in the no stamina but on second look it just mentions that that's a common effect. Damn, that's like 30 points...

Zen Gypsy wrote:
Your Possession ability is purchased with Accurate, but also Perception Range, which means that it doesn't require a hit roll. Also at 6 Ranks, it is a Will Save DC 16. Which means a balanced PL 10 opponent, will resist 75% of the time, I would drop it to range touch, purchase your fighting back, and take power attack so you can up the difficulty of the Will Check. Being Invisible you'd most likely have surprise any any attempt.

Hmm, didn't realize perception range meant no attack roll. Well that will give me some points back... but I still want to maintain the no physical form. Looks like if I don't have to make an attack roll then I can get rid of Concentration as well, which means for the 42 points in the array I can get it up to rank 10 :)

Zen Gypsy wrote:
Also, your Extended 5 is most likely overkill, also, without Acute you can't tell friend from foe. I'd suggest Acute, Tracking & Radius just for cool factor.

I don't think it's really overkill. Extend 5 means he gets -1 to his perception roll for each 1 million feet, or each 189.4 miles, so if he's on the east coast of america he would have -12 or -13 to reach the west cost. Seems like a pretty good radius to me :p

As to acute and Radius I bought those for the entire Mental sense type. Track... maybe, but gonna have to find points for immunity, so probably not right now, easy enough to pick it up later.

Zen Gypsy wrote:
Mind Reading doesn't need Accurate as there is no attack check involved.

Fair enough.

Zen Gypsy wrote:
Just a couple thoughts to help you trim and such, though the Immunity to Fortitude is definitely a must as an absent Stamina character, as you will automatically fail any Fortitude check.

Yeah, that was me misreading/misinterpretting the absent stamina section. Gonna be tricky to find 30 points though :s Thanks for the feedback :)

Okay, so drag whatever's left of the treant to the entrance, strap the elf to it, and have the boggards do terrible things to it while we lay in wait. Mi'Dre will help the others find good hiding spots if possible.

"That is my hope..." he agreed with a nod. His recollection fails him as he attempts to dredge up any further information on the creautres. Still, the elf's information should be more than enough. "It will know we hunt it now, but perhaps we can still draw it out... Tell me Cruxcarr, do you have something in your repertoire to suit the situation? Perhaps we could begin 'warding' the horn, something that requires a pattern so that the azata can figure it out..." he muses

Not sure what would work... illusions would be the most obvious choice, but I'm open to suggestions. Mi'Dre is willing to be bait, although Shendalyn is almost as tough as him, and drunk/high to boot :p

@Jethryk. Cool. You signed up with a settlement yet for the land rush? I'm in The Golden Flask (Now Tavernhold on the Guild Leaderboard for our settlement name). Don't know if I'm actually going to play a caydenite, but it seems like a good group so far, and we've just got tentative agreement to a merger with the Dreamchasers (Desnans).

That reminds me, I need to go look and make sure we didn't get booted out of our settlement.

Nope. We're good, still up in the northwest surrounded by badlands :p If you're planning on doing much PvE stuff, I suggest heading our way, I think we're going to need everyone we can get!

Heh, well I'm not sure how effective it would be, but we could always send out the Grey Servants with an Autonomous Cartographer, a cartload(spider load?) of blank paper and one or two living people (I don't believe Grey has any intelligent undead minions yet, right?) to supervise and operate the cartographer.

Undead really simplify labor issues.

Mi'Dre in his current form really isn't suited for leadership (the 6 charisma is a fair indication of this :p). I've tried to keep this moving along as much as I can poking people with him.

That being said I had been intending to rework him a fair amount once we got to the ritual to transform him, and turn him into a more sociable fella, so wouldn't mind taking more of a leadership roll then. I think Albina would indeed make the most sense as leader right now, but that's up to Set I suppose. I could probably stoke up Mi'Dre's delusions of grandeur a bit more and have him take charge if people like; he'd certainly love the opportunity to boss people around. Otherwise give Shendalyn a try if Albina's not interested as leader :)

Before I get too far into it, my idea below (as it involves an uncommon race)

Concept:
Broad Strokes: Spoiled Nagaji Princess-equivalent snuck/smuggled away from her people and the responsibilities of following in her mother's footsteps to attend the school.

Born the only daughter of her mother's--an ascended Nagaji (High level Naga Aspirant)--first clutch, she was destined for greatness; at least in the eyes of her people. She was lavished with wealth and attention, servants and siblings at her beck and call, and generally spoiled rotten, which she loved. What she did not love however, was the expectations people had of her; the priestesses of Nalinivati pestered her for signs of sorcerous, or even divine ability like her mother's; her tutor tried to teach her of the kingdom she would one day rule of her people; her mother seemed only to be waiting for her to come of age so that she could continue her line; but the only thing she wanted to do was listen to her uncle's--and occasionally her mother's--stories from his travels to distant lands. The jungle was fine and all, but tales of the world to the north where one could see for miles around on open plains, his journey across the frozen crown of the world, and the strange, distant lands of Avistan enchanted her. She didn't want to follow her mother's footsteps, she wanted to rush off and explore... adventure even! When the news of the foreigner looking for students for his school reached her it seemed a perfect opportunity, and she used all her wiles and cunning to escape the clutches of her gilded cage (or so she thinks anyway), dragging her youngest brother from her own clutch with her.

Looking at the racial age categories for Nagaji, they're very similar to half-elf aging so I'd use that from the provided youngsters table :)

Middling for some at least, until Mi'Dre discovers that there's an orphanage in town. After that he disappears from the group and gleefully spends the night using his stealth, natural magicks and Asmodean-granted cantrips to terrorize the inhabitants. Strange lights leading through the corridors, small objects floating around and flying at people, voices just on the edge of hearing whispering the children's fates. Of course, when his antics have roused the adults there is nothing to be seen, and the stupid lying children are sent back to bed...

Petty evil is fun :) Mi'Dre totally needs to find a protege. Note: Keep an eye out for bullies and other malicious acts by children.

Having had his entertainment for the night terrifying children Mi'Dre returns to the inn in the wee hours of the morning and curls up by Albina's bed for the few hours rest he needs.

The next day goes back to being boring once again, though he makes sure to return to the orphanage a couple times and mage hand a few things around when the adults aren't looking, but otherwise he remains bored and surly until the evening. Then he tenses up as soon as Tiadora is sighted, but otherwise keeps his position deferentially a step behind and to the side of Albina. At Tiadora's stern glare he can't help but shuffle a little further behind Albina. He samples the horse doovers and takes a liking to the crayfish puffs, eating about a whole tray of them himself, enjoying the spicy flavour. He suspects they will be the highlight of the evening.

Mi'Dre does not stand idly by on the wall while Sakkarot has his fun, the devil casting aside his guise and joining in the mayhem. He is rather disappointed therefore when he is pulled away, finding himself once again under the gaze of the Hell-B@*+* Tiadora.

As the Folly traverses the river Mi'Dre is not idle either. Once Tiadora is away he follows, enjoying his own brand of revelry, only returning as light touches the sky. More often than not he brings Cruxcarr back a gift from his efforts, a choice sweetbread, a bloodied roll of skin from the leg of a boy, or the torso of a lady, something to whet his appetite. To the other survivors he allows requests, bringing back a trinket, or a magical geegaw if it catches his eye.

Finally restored to full health, and with a magical ring plucked from a vigilant defender of Balentine he revels in the freedom of the nights once again, no longer having to worry about hiding himself from the gaze of inferior mortals.

All too soon however, that comes to an end. Tiadora remaining on the ship cuts his excursion short, and he find himself before his infernal 'master' on this plane.

The news of a Daemon does catch his attention however, while not as hated as the spawn of the Abyss the Devil has little warmth for any fellow Outsider. The Daemon's sobriquet amuses him, and he listens with interest to the news of this plague.

Knowledge (planes) (for Vetra-Kali or Aklys): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
It was the 8th knot that was at the Manor with us, right? We haven't met or heard of this Elise Zadaria right?

Mi'Dre remains silent for a while, mulling over what Thorn has told them. It is good that the seventh knot was given a different, and 'lesser' task, things would not have fared well if it had been the other way around... Two new members too, or... perhaps not, a gift Thorn said. The Devil gives a malicious smile.

"The Ranger, Aiden. If we find him, or any information about him and his knot do you wish to know? How may we send word?"

That may draw some unwanted attention before we reach Balentyne. It could have it's merits though... we could join in the flood of refugees providing both cover, and taxing Balentyne's resources... assuming that's what would happen anyway.

People scatter out of the way of the madman waving a sword around as Rameth charges through the crowd and burst into the shop, finding Halistar and Zanos speaking with the shopkeep.

Outside the Half-Orc pauses to shake his head, before grabbing the spokes of his cart and trundling off.

So, just a thought I've been having after looking at more recruitment threads for play-by-posts; I have several aliases that I've created for characters where the game either petered out when players/gm disappeared, or just weren't accepted in the first place, yet they still appear in the drop down list when I make a post. Would it be possible to have a way to retire aliases so that they still show up on the account profile, but under a different category (Retired) and no longer show up in the drop down list? It just bugs me having them cluttering up the list.

If this has been suggested before then I apologize, or if--even better--it is already possible somehow it'd be awesome if someone could point it out to me :)

Thanks guys! Keep being awesome Paizo!

Mi'Dre simply waits until the relative speed and distance between the two ships is low enough that he breech the gap, diving beneath the surface without hesitation, untouched by the cold waters as his powerful limbs push his closer to the other boat. When he does surface again he quickly makes for the rear of the ship, taking a look at the rudder to see if he could disable it from beneath the water, or if he will have to climb onto the ship itself, hoping that Jack and Albina can buy him as much time as possible, the devil keeping his senses honed as much as possible.

Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Disable Device to look over the rudder: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Wow...

Despite the relatively calm waters of the stretch of coastline Mi'Dre still manages to flail around helplessly, making quite a lot of noise (at least for him anyway) in the process, his ears full of saltwater...

Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Oh come on!

as he slips under the surface between the two boats, failing all efforts to keep himself afloat.

Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Swim: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

The devil finally seems to get his limbs to coordinate and reach the other ship, having wasted enough time that he has lost whatever advantage he might have hoped to gain from his water approach.

Well, that was shorter than expected. Guess that happens when a bunch of crits and crit threats are rolled :) As for level three I'm wavering between Improved Grapple and Ferocious Focus (think that's the one... though I guess that wouldn't work fully with two claw attacks, since it's only the first attack in the round...)

Mmm, loot. Mi'Dre wouldn't mind the cloak.

Mi'Dre continues to cling to Sir Balin, claws digging into his armor even as he wavers beneath the blows Shendalyn's fiendish critters before Jack's blade scores true. The Devil grins then, simply riding him down with a clatter.

He wastes not time then, straightening up from the prone figure, his claws deftly seeking out buckles and clasps, pausing momentarily to try on the man's cloak for size, before setting it aside and continuing to peel the man free of his armor until he'd got his breastplate off. Grabbing the man's shield and rolling him over he brings the heavy weight down on Balin's chest until he feels the ribs break, and he can plunge his clawed hand into Balin's broken chest, his claws closing around his warm, possibly still beating heart...

:D

I kinda just wish someone at Paizo would say:
'Yo dawg, I heard you like being a player and being a GM, not shelling out for multiple publications and having a big, hefty fantasy tome in yo' hands. So we put everything together for The Tian Xia Guide!'

I can certainly understand your frustration, I normally have similar issues, but (though I'm not in any way associated with Paizo) I've been following this thread for a while, and the consensus seems to be that any such hardcover would be another year or two down the track. So while these may eventually be superseded, you're going to get a good amount of use from them before they're likely to be replaced.

So color me skeptical.
