Hi

A regular group of gamers from mainland Europe attend Conception in January. Think some of the Swiss contingent play PFS as well as 4th Ed.

I think Conception is more geared to roleplayers than Expo, which has a lot more other things going on. (Conception's my favourite 'con').

Personally, I'm part of a London group who run about 6 games a year. The rest of my PFS is at:

Conception (January)
ShadowCon (May)
Expo (June)
PaizoCon (July)
Dragonmeet (December)

Thanks
Paul H

Hi

I hope to be back next year too, even if it's just one day.

PFS does seem to be getting more popular. (Very goog thing)! At Conception this year there were more players than were anticipated. At Expo there weren't any 'official' games on the Friday, (the added day in another hotel), even had a crossover from some of the 4th Ed gamers. Couple of us players ran scenarios in 1st & 3rd slots. Would have run in the 2nd slot too, but afraid we overran a bit in the first game.

Had a great time - have booked the Saturday for PaizoCon in July. See you then....

Thanks
Paul H
PS We getting any 'Special Guests' at Conception?

Hi

Blast........... :(

Thanks
Paul H

Hi

The PDF I downloaded in February says:

"Anatomist: You have studied the workings of anatomy, either as a student at university or as an apprentice mortician or
necromancer. You know where to aim your blows to strike vital organs and you gain a +1 trait bonus on all melee damage rolls."

Other versions say +1 to confirm crits. Which is the updated version?

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

I thought you couldn't have two Traits from the same type of source? EG two Combat Traits?

Still prefer Anatomist, though.........

Thanks
Paul H

Hi

Wasn't aware of that Trait when I started my Sorc 1/Pal 2 (going Dragon Disciple) character, but would STILL have taken Anatomist (+1 Melee damage to ALL weapons).

Even if I switch to Claws (from Gt Axe) I still get the bonus. Arcane Strike adds further +1 dam at my level, and makes the weapons count as magical.*

Heirloom isn't that great when we consider what else is out there..........

Cheers
Paul H
* Attack: 2xClaws +4 Dam: D4 +4(Magical). Smite: 2xClaws +7 Dam: D4 +6

Hi

Without checking the spoilers - this is one of the mods I'll likely be playing with my Sorc/Paladin (going Dragon Disc) in a couple of weeks. If I end up in this one I'll let you know how I got on.

Should be interesting...........

Thanks
Paul Harries

Hi

I'd add Wand of Shield to that list. (And True Strike)?
My Sorc/Paladin has ASF from his armour, but none from wands. (He uses 2H Gt Axe).

I'll second Wands of Mage Armour, but Endure Elements is useful for some scenarios........

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

I should be there for at least part of the convention. Not sure which day(s) yet, since Shadowcon is in London the previous weekend.

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

I've got an Arcanist/Martial concept in the PFS campaign - Half Orc Sorc/Paladin (going Dragon Disciple)

OK - not full caster, but enough spells to support his combat abilities. Eventually going to use his natural weapons with Smite Evil to pull down the baddies. (2 Claws, Bite, 2 Wing attacks, Tail Sweep, all with Smite bonuses, Bite & Tail both get 1 1/2 Str dam bonus)

Was going Sorc 1/Pal 4/Dragon Discp xxxx, until I found out couldn't use Magical Knack. Now taking Sorc/Pal 2/Sorc.. /Drag Discp so I can get the Arcane Armour at 5th.

Prob not what the OP wanted, but hey, it's a Martial/Caster thing that just might work! (I hope) lol

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Cost is an issue to me, as is distance from nearest train/coach station. (I need walking stick to get about).

Just checked, can't get coach there before about midday on Sat, so will have to be train. How close is it from Birmingham New Street?

As for 5 hour slots, as long as I can get my 5 games in.........

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

I agree that there should be some Divination ability somewhere in the class, though Waves Focus does grant a Divining Pool Relevance.

Looks like a version of the Favoured Soul to me, with a few tweaks.

Glad to see they're allowing them in PFS games. I'll be running two Female Elf versions:
Storm - Wind Focus, Tongues Curse (Auran)
Fury - Battle Focus, Tongues Curse (Auran)

Some strange reason I can't get Ride of the Valkyries out of my head! :)

Cheers

Hi

Been playing a Druid in Season 0 of PFS. More accurately, been playing a Riding Dog 'Tank', with the Druid there to buff & direct.

Will have to check over changes in the new rulebook, but my Riding Dog companion currently has BAB +3, Str 16, Dex 16, Con 16, AC 22, HP 22, and Power Attack. (Dwarf Druid 3, about to go 4). Plenty of front line support there. My Druid just takes buffs with one cure spell - the rest are scrolls and the wand with 5 charges.

A 3HD raging Barbarian with 2H Gt Sword may do more damage, but doesn't have the AC 'Gnasher' (Riding Dog) has.

Cheers
Paul H
PS Gnasher has m/c Studded Leather barding (200GP). M/C so no armour check penalty.

Hi

From the posts I'm already looking forward to this one already!

Hopefully there'll be a local convention I can get to, but the rules 'conversion' wil probably happen before then...

(Playing a Dwarf Druid, my Animal Companion is a Riding Dog with m/c Std Lthr Barding).

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Thanks for the info re cost of games, but what about accommodation? Uni was suggested, but how much, and how close is it to the venue?

Checked out train/coach to Aston Uni, not very good for travelling up each day....

Since (AFAIK) there's no GenconUK this year, looking into a gaming weekend away if it's not too expensive.

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Paz - I played number of PFS games at Conception (the main reason I went).

Did any of your groups include a Dwarf Druid (Oskar Treefriend) & his Wolf? (I'm the player with the walking-stick). Had plenty of good times in the scenarios - my thanks again to all the players, GM's & Kithran who organised the games.

Managed to play:
Scenario 08: Slave Pits (Made 2nd Lvl)
09: Eye of Crocodile King
11: Third Riddle
12: Stay of Execution (Made 3rd Lvl)
05: Mists of Mwangi (Not sure if this was Conception)

Looking forward to more games in London & conventions, Coach tickets permitting.....)

Cheers

Hi

I live in Gloucester, and am part of the Pathfinder Society's 'Living' campaign. There's also a few players based around Western London area. I sometimes travel to join their once/month sessions.
('Living Pathfinder' is just core D&D 3.5 PHB/DMG/MM1).

Not sure what's happening once Pathfinder comes out in August. Hope it's just case of transferring our characters across to the new system. (Got Dwarf Druid 3, with Wolf companion).

If you need more info email me on:

Cheers

Hi

Weekend in July at Aston Uni, sounds good........... :)

Is this Paizo product, or continuing the Pathfinder Society Living campaign? (Just 3.5 core PHB/DMG/MM1).

Lastly, what happens in August? Do we convert our Living campaign chars across to the new Pathfinder rules, or does a new campign start then?

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Played this mod at GenCon UK. The 'big box' amidships was a grating, I think, to allow cargo to be winched into the hold. We had the stairs to lower deck aft, by the cabin. As to the 'Thick Black Chains' our Fighter type power attacked them to pieces.

Interstingly had another ship-borne combat in a LG scenario at GenCon, though this one was already over before the dice were thrown. (Clr/Warmage/Mystic Theurge cast Solid Fog, then Lssr Acid Orbs, Beguiler Cohort throwing Mass Whelm for 9D6)! This Pathfinder mod was a challenge - the LG one was a hectic paperwork excercise in planning.

Cheers

You were the table next to me then! I was DM'ing the group by the back window.

Lewy.

Hi

Then you were my GM! I played the Dwarf Druid c/w Wolf.
(I changed tables because the other one already had a Druid & Cleric, while ours didn't, IIRC).

Finally recovered from the sleep-deprivation.

Hi

As a 3.5 addict I'd have to recommend Neverwinter Nights2. First time I've ever been able to play a Warlock. Not so sure of Mask of the Betrayer, though. Had problems with that 'vampiric' thing & quests later in the game. (Otherwise it would be excellent).

Still love the old Might & Magic series - got MM6, MM7, MM8, & MM9, though not all work with Vista. :(

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Missed this scenario at GenCon UK, but had a blast with The Hydra's Fang Incident & Silent Tide. (Played the Dwarf Oskar Treefriend). Hope to catch up with this one at Conception next year, if not before then.

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Just adding my thanks to the Paizo team and everyone who GM'd or played in the Pathfinder scenarios.

Yep - I'm the Oskar Treefriend, or Oskar Thorinson of Living Greyhawk. I'm Welsh, and I tend to play Dwarves. (Many of my family worked in the mines, so it's probably a family thing...).

Glad to hear the news that Pathfinder's going to be at Conception. There's a big hole where LG was, and not sure it's going to be completely filled with the new LFR.

Personally, I'm looking towards a 2:1 split between Pathfinder & LFR there - already looking forward to the new scenarios if they're as good as Hydra's fang Incident & Silent Tide. Hopefully I'll get a few games & level up before then.

Cheers

Hi

Just want to add my thanks to Team Pathfinder at GenCon UK. Had a great time playing Silent Tide & The Hydra's Incident on Saturday. (I was one of the guys pestering Nick Logue about coming to Conception in January).

Want to offer Nick a warm welcome for joining us this side of the 'Pond'. There's a regular gaming group playing Living Greyhawk in London once/month, I'm sure he'll be welcome there.

Cheers
Paul H

Hi Guys

Bit of a newb to Pathfinder. One of our club is starting up a campaign next month, and some of our 'Faithful' Living Greyhawk players enjoyed themselves with Pathfinder yesterday at GenCon UK.

My question is - is there going to be the support & campaign like the Living Greyhawk model? I love the 3.5 system & the idea of a larger, standardised campaign playing both at home & conventions. I know Pathfinder's at GenCon, but there's another convention called Conception, runs for nearly a week at the end of January on our (England) south coast.

You can find more info through ukroleplayers.com

Lastly, Pathfinder is compatible with D&D 3.5, does that include the new character classes from the 'splat' books & PHBII?
(I love playing Beguilers & Warmages).

Cheers
Paul H

Hi

Recognised couple gamers in your photos.

Hoping to get some more Living Greyhawk & Pathfinder tomorrow (Saturday) - much prefer the 3.5 system I know & invested heavily in.

Maybe see you there tomorrow (I'm the balding guy with walking stick. (The LG players from your photos know my char as Oskar Thorinson).

Cheers
Paul H
