We have an Oracle of Lore in our Kingmaker game. She has the Sidestep Secret, the extra revelation feat and Lorekeeper. We're only at 1st level (just started playing yesterday).

This definitely falls under your GM's judgement, but in case your GM wants to know what others think, I vote for letting the circlet apply. You've taken a feat and applied an ability that works with your Charisma, in which you've obviously invested heavily. The Circlet fills a body slot, so you're focusing even more of your resources into that ability score. I think you should be able to benefit from that combination.

Yeah, you posted that video on Facebook. They looked very excited.

Glad you saw it. We were very pleased with how Christmas turned out. The girls didn't get a huge haul of stuff, but they were very happy with what they got, so it was a big win.

I can't access YouTube from work, but when I get home, I'll post the link to the video here, so I can share it with the FAWTLs who don't use FB. ::looks meaninfully at FhDM:: ;)

Here with you guys.
Is the store busy today?

It's fifteen minutes past the time we were scheduled to close, and we're already home. So no. Dead as Marley's ghost.

Merry Christmas Eve to all the observant Fawtlies and Paizonians. May your days be merry and bright!

Was the holiday shopping season busy overall?

Fairly decent, yeah. Not as good as the retail reports I've seen quoted, but we're not a major retailer, nor are we in a standard location.

How's life, CH?

Life's decent enough. Took my mom out to dinner last night for her birthday (which was actually Tuesday). Doing some last minute sorts of stuff today. Christmas is too expensive.
Your mom kicks ass! Please tell your birthday sister I said happy belated birthday!!!!
Oddly, It's also my partner's mom's birthday. Both December 21.
Hmm, Dec 21 is my sister's birthday. I don't recall her having any children, but she did spend several months in California in the 70s....

Weird. My sister's birthday is Dec 21, also.

For some inspiration, you can take a look at the Boreal Sorcerer Bloodline. You could also consider giving clerics access to the Ice and Wind Subdomains. Ice is a subdomain of Water and Wind is a Subdomain of Air, but they go well together in the context of Winter.

Ok, even given that, I understand the maths, its simply the logic of allowing Heal to be a class skill which I'm arguing for. It would seem *very* fundamental to just about everything alive.

I would think that the "use untrained" aspect is more reflective of its fundamental nature than making it a class skill. Class skills are those in which you receive specialized training. Additionally, you don't get that +3 bonus unless you take ranks in the skill, either.

In my view, wild animals may be a bad example. Yes, they can staunch bleeding from superficial wounds and survive some accidents that would seem pretty serious, but they can't close a grievous wound from an arrow or other weapon. Additionally, they can't really be trained in advanced healing techniques, so giving them a rank in Heal is a bit of a stretch for me. Giving them a chance to stop bleeding with an untrained skill check (i.e., Wisdom check) is sufficient.

For creatures of higher intellect, understanding how to properly clean and treat wounds would give them a better chance to stop bleeding, etc. That's where ranks in the Heal skill would come in, in my opinion.

I just reread eidolon in the PHB. It's a tenth dimensional creature. An orb of oblivion just trims the thing's toenail. The eidolon should come back slightly different. It's regeneration like The Doctor. You are all familiar with Dr Who, right?

Cool. And, I thought at least passing knowledge of The Doctor was required for participation on the boards. ;-)

The RAW for summoned creatures just says summoned crestures that die will regenerate over a day. If one gets sucked into an orb of oblivion, can a summoned badger regenerate anyways?
Huh? Does it really matter? When you summon a creature, you don't summon the same one every time you cast the spell. The badger you summon today is not the same badger you summoned yesterday or even the same one you summoned an hour ago.

I consider this something of a flavor item. Most of my players have chosen to have specific creatures they summon, going so far as to name their summoned badgers, etc. It's not required, but there's nothing in the rules that says you don't summon the same creature(s) each time. Death of the creature on one plane would merely send it back to its home plane where it is reborn. (I think the choice of the term regenerate is misleading here. It's not the same as the Regeneration special ability.)

However, I would say that contact with an orb of oblivion or similarly destructive force would actually destroy that particular creature, no matter what plane it's on. In that case, the next time you summon a creature of that time, it will have a different identity.

Again, that's all flavor, really, and should be up to individual gaming groups to decide.

Please dish.
Twas a typical "ZOMG D20 STUFF RUINED MY BELOVED SETTING/GAME SYSTEM WHICH IS ROLEPLAYING BUT FOR *SMART PEOPLE*" rant that I usually get whenever I'm around people who play CoC, Gamma World, White Wolf WoD, L5R(Oh..BIG one there) or whatever RPG that had a D20 suppliment a few years back. Usualy said suppliment was my first exposure to the game with rules I recognized, and I enjoy talking to people about such stuff for the most part, but whenever I mention that I play or prefer the D20 version, I'm usually in for a disgusted sigh or a 20 minute long rant on how I'm doing it wrong.

That's too bad. I suppose there is elitism even among elites, isn't there? I mean, it's not like "dumb people" can really develop an understanding for the complexities of the d20 system, either, but there're always going to be those who need to feel that their game of choice is superior. Whatever.

I enjoyed playing Deadlands when it first came out, but not really because of the system. It was fun, but my enjoyment was due mostly to the fact that Shane Hensley was running the games for our friends in Blacksburg, VA. I got to participate in the origianl playtesting and even got a playtest credit in the rulebook. I just never did anything with it after that.

Oh...and as for shipping, I'll have to check and let you know. I'm sure I could manage a few of those flat-rate boxes. I think I have several in the garage, after my brief foray into eBay sales a couple of years ago.

I'm at work, now, but I'll try to get a list of available titles posted when I get home this afternoon. My wife will sincerely appreciate having one more box of stuff cleared out of the garage. ;-)

I'm "losing" a lot of source material, since I had a lot of the Fantasy Flight "Legends & Lairs" and Alderac Entertainment Group books, but given how much time I really do have to plan a campaign the Pathfinder books already provide more information there than I can realistically use. Everything else was just taking up space.

My hope is that some gamer can spot a great deal on good books in great condition and make use of them while helping out the Goodwill, as well.

Please tell me Ptolus or Iron Kingdoms wasn't included in this. I would cry. Horribly.

No. As a matter of fact, I've kept the Witchblade Trilogy of modules for my own. It's the only Iron Kingdoms product I own.

The stuff I donated was all WotC, Legends & Lairs, or AEG supplements.

As for the Deadlands stuff, it's all the original Deadlands (1990s) products, but most of what I have left is from the "Hell on Earth" product line.

Yeah. I'm kind of the same way. Some might say that I spend a lot on Paizo products, but other than Hero Labs data sets (which, of course, support Paizo products), I don't spend a lot of money on other stuff.

I've got tons of D&D Miniatures, which fit most of my mini needs when they arise, so I haven't had a need for much else.

I keep thinking that I'm going to get d20Pro or some other online gaming setup, but I haven't done it, yet.

Also, I'm home from work, today. I've never had a "rain day" before, but the CO decided the weather was too dangerous for folks to be on the road. Given how ridiculously stupid San Diego drivers can be when it rains, I can't say that I disagree with him.

In fact one of the new players took a round by round picture series with his iphone.
What did you get? Cuz I'm getting some of the dragonfire laser crafts stuff to take my game to the next level, although it hasn't arrived yet.
I have the classic dungeon set, I'm making another huge order in March for the classic set, I hope to complete it with this next order. I will move onto the cavern set after my big move in August.

That's really cool, Jeremy. I've been thinking about something like this for quite some time. Unfortunately, I have a hard time justifying the purchase.

I'm subscribed to every Pathfinder and Gamemastery product, right now, which means that I have WAY more stuff than I can use. I don't game often enough to put this stuff to use. Just looking at them gives me great ideas for scenarios and adventures, but I can't always put those ideas into action.

A good example is the scenario I came up with for my daughters using some of my D&D Minis and the Darklands and Dragon's Lair flip-mats. I just went through my minis and picked out ones that fit a certain theme (the girls' enemy being the dreaded Firelords), then made up a 4-encounter scenario to go with it, using the flip-mats as the setting. The girls had fun, but we used 10th level characters, so most of the abilities were way over their heads.

Bottom line: I would like to play/GM more, so I can use more of this cool stuff. And...if I can't use the cool stuff I have, I can really make a good argument for buying more toys for my RPGs. ;)

As an aside, I really would like to see more of Paizo's Gamemastery products tie directly into the adventure paths and modules. Some people might think it's cheesy advertising, but I like seeing the references to flip-mats, map packs or other Gamemastery products I can use to enhance an adventure.

And, while I was there, I had the brilliant idea of trying to get my wife White Christmas on either Blu Ray or DVD. She had found it on the other night and made a quick comment on how it was her favorite Christmas movie. That notion stuck got stuck in a small corner of my brain and slowly germinated into a gift idea. And, BOOYAH!, they had the movie on Blu Ray! So, at least I have one solid, genuine, she really would like it gift.

Oh yeah, and I called some lady in the grocery store a b&&~@ for cutting in front of me in the check out line.

I'm going to get myself in trouble. My wife made it very clear that she didn't want a gift, because we're going on a cruise at New Years and that's supposed to be our Christmas gifts. Most certainly.

Spoiler:
And no, thank you, I don't have time for tea.

True story (this is strange, random and is another example of how my brain does strange, random things...so it seemed fitting to share here):

Spoiler:
Being underway on a Navy ship and in a position where I have to stand a rotating watch, I occasionally (okay, frequently) find myself up at very late hours after having slept very little. That kind of schedule can have a serious impact on my mental state, a situation that has not improved with my ever-increasing age. (I'm almost 40...oh, gawd...did I just type that? Anyway.)

The other night, as I was preparing to turn over the watch at 2am, having been up for almost 30 hours, I briefly drifted into semi-consciousness while actually talking to someone. Fortunately, that someone was distracted by another report and wasn't really paying attention, so all they know is that I looked very tired and muttered something unintelligible before snapping suddenly awake, laughing and shaking my head.

If they had actually heard and understood what I'd muttered, they'd probably think I'm crazy. I mean, I may BE crazy, but I can't have too many people thinking that. ;)

You see, what my sleep-deprived brain conjured up, completely unbidden, in the midst of watch turnover in the combat information center of a US Navy warship was,

"The Queen of Hearts still wants her tarts."

I still have no idea why.

Have a great day, FAWTLs!

They're the best threads you'll find here.
I don't know if there'll be trolls,
So bring your flaming sphere.
Have a hawtl FAWTL Christmas!
And when you scroll down the screen
Just say "No!" to threads you know
Will make you want to scream.

Oh ho!
The mistletoe
Looks like Mairk's left ear
And Lord President Moorluck rules
Through both love and fear!
Have a hawtl FAWTL Christmas!
And in case you didn't hear,
Oh by Gawtl,
Have a hawtl FAWTL
Christmas this year!
