The cool thing is that it still gets cold enough to be "snuggling weather" at night. I just need to get back into port so I can actually take advantage of that.

Happy Page 500, FAWTlies!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful December 13th. I'm looking forward to getting back home in a few more days and starting to enjoy some time off. I get to take some leave after Christmas!
And my local gaming group will be starting up again. We'll begin Kingmaker on the 26th!

Thanks, Sebastian.
Clanmates is fine with me. I had no real attachment to the name, but being clanmates, rather than brothers makes the characters a little more portable, I think.
With the Oracle curse I took (tongues), I lose the ability to speak or understand any language other than Terran during combat. Having someone else in the group who understands Terran would make it possible to communicate plans and other actions during tactical situations.

I'm so glad that I know the actual Spanish lyrics for "Feliz Navidad"...both the words and what they mean. It irks me to think how long I was singing made-up words because I'd never bothered to actually figure out what the actual lyrics were. ;)

The Wave power of the Water elemental school says that the wave of water is created at the wizard's location and that it moves 30 feet per round away from him in a direction of his choosing.
When does it stop or how many rounds does it continue to exist though?
I searched the forums and the FAQ, but couldn't find any answer.
The last sentence says "You can use this power for a number of rounds per day equal to 1/2 your wizard level."
To me, that would mean that the wave lasts as long as you want it to, up to that maximum number of rounds per day. So an 8th level wizard could use it for 4 consecutive rounds, 4 times a day for 1 round each, or for some combination of rounds totalling 4 per day.

Forgot to mention. I had a great weekend.
The girls' choir group did a Sunday evening performance of Scrooge in Bethlehem. It was very cute and the kids all did a good job.
The best part was seeing an entire row of the girls' principal, teachers, and friends who had come out just to see them perform. I couldn't have imagined having my elementary school principal take the time out to come see me in a play that had nothing to do with school. We're so lucky to have the support we do, there.
Anyway, I hope everybody has a great day!
I'll be underway for a couple of weeks, so you won't see me on Facebook, but I'll be checking the boards, whenever I can.

In short the only thing they didn't do is give me an offer.

Here's where I'm at: dwraven monk, lawful good, but lawful good in the sense that some people can argue that Batman is lawful good (hopefully everyone understands the concept without arguing Batman's alignment).
However, unlike Batman, he's motivated by greed rather than the death of his parents. He has a strong sense of fair play and justice, and won't cheat, steal, or betray for money/power/prestige.
He's Chelixian, but only because his clan is from the area and his sense of duty and honor requires that he pledge loyalty to and serve the interests of his homeland.
He relies heavily on alchemical items, and the shared iterest in alchemy (and gold) with Burnt Orange Strudel is the reason the two are such close friends. They are almost always hatching some plan to transmute lead into gold, and constantly collecting random debris/monster parts in the hope that it will be usable as a material component.
Paris's character is probably the good cop to my character's bad cop. He's the morale compass, and I imagine the two of them having a buddy cop style relationship.
Those are my thoughts de jure.
I like this start, Sebastian. I've been waiting to hear more about your character before building too much on mine. I had initially thought of going with Lawful Neutral as my alignment.
Terlek's sense of the proper order of things is heavily influenced by Pharasma's ideals and is really what drives his faith. By extension, he hates undead and won't hesitate to use his energy channeling abilities to destroy them.
Most important, however, he is dedicated to the healing arts. He is quite nimble for a dwarf and uses his abilities to move around the battlefield healing his allies, since his faith allows him to keep up his guard when he uses healing magic.
A strange aspect of his "curse" is his connection with the earth, which might be some influence from his dwarven heritage. Exactly how this relates to his dedication to healing the living and cleansing the world of the undead remains unclear, but it results in the unfortunate side-effect that he can only speak and understand Terran when in combat or other stressful situations. (NOTE: Not sure if anyone else wants to take Terran as a language, but it might be helpful.)
Living in Cheliax has taught him the value of knowing what to say and when to say it. Also, his brother's sense of honor has led to conflicts in the past. While he's not afraid to stand up for himself and his beliefs, Terlek is more willing to give diplomacy a chance, first. Given the difficulties he faces with communicating when things get out of hand, it's in his best interest to avoid escalating tensions whenever possible.
This dynamic often gives others the appearance that Terlek's intentions are actually more noble than those of his brother. In truth, Terlek is simply more pragmatic, seeking the most reasonable path through or around a challenge while causing the least possible amount of harm to others--unless others willfully put themselves in harms way.
Terlek is not so dedicated to life that he isn't willing to crack a few living skulls when necessary. He always carries a walking stick (hanbo) that serves him well as a weapon. His leather coat is lined with metal plates (armored coat from APG), providing him with protection that he can quickly remove when he needs to treat a patient.
Terlek appreciates Burnt Orange Strudel's ability to create healing draughts and other alchemical items. He sees the value of the search for the fabled philosopher's stone and the power to transform lead to gold, but has occasionally voiced his wish that, should the gnome actually discover the ultimate secret of alchemy, he should use it for its healing powers, rather than making money. Being a realist, of course, he holds no real hope of getting that wish.

Dwarven Oracle of Life with the Tongues (Terran) curse.
Revelation: Safe Cures
Extra Revelation Feat: Channel Positive Energy
Traits: Ease of Faith & [one other]
I can see him being good in the healer/caretaker role for his dwarven monk brother. His Ease of Faith trait and high charisma make him a decent diplomat, as well.
I think I'll make my other trait "Strength of the Land"...kind of makes sense with the Terran tongues curse and it'll be a boost to caster level checks I can use once I have other spells at my disposal.

As for what kind of character...I'll have to give it some thought. It may depend on how we decide our characters are connected.
That's always the chicken and egg, isn't it. I'm leaning towards the dwarven monk. If you played a dwarf, our characters could be from the same clan. Or there's always the option of just knowing each other from the academy. It looks like we could still use a healer, artillery, or arcane caster.
Hmmm...I think I'm game for either healer or arcane caster. Maybe a dwarven cleric or oracle...lemme look at things and get back to you.

Even though I floated a variant on the idea, I can't commit to online play. :-(
My original concept was slightly different from Ogre's plan, but his version is probably the better way to implement it for those interested. My thought was for a group of us to form an actual adventuring party of 1st level characters prior to showing up at PaizoCon. The characters would all know each other from their days in the Pathfinder Lodge, where they became friends and decided to adventure together. They'd also be built to compliment each other (e.g., we wouldn't want a party with 4 arcane casters, a monk, and a bard.)
At PaizoCon 2011, we'd play the characters through a few adventures, and develop them a little more.
After PaizoCon 2011, we'd play the characters either online or in other PFS adventures.
At PaizoCon 2012, we'd reunite the adventuring party (assuming their levels aren't too disparate) and have them relate their experiences since they last adventured together.
We could call them the Order of the Board. Or something like that. I'm bad at naming stuff.
Either way, it still sounds like fun. Besides, I'm in San Diego and expect to be stationed here at least until the middle of 2012. My schedule is still a little iffy as to when I'll be traveling, etc.
I should be able to work out a tabletop game once in awhile and I'm still interested in online play to try out maptools or TTop or whatever. (In fact, I'm also interested in trying d20Pro, since that had direct HeroLabs support, too.)
EDIT: I also like the name "Order of the Board"...makes me think of Order of the Stick...only thicker.

Solnes, I hope things work out for Kellen.
We've been very fortunate that the girls' experience with their school has been positive. As my wife made clear at our meeting on Tuesday, the school's support is a big reason she does so much for the school. (She's the PTA president, and does a heck of a lot of volunteering for them...to the point where practically every kid in the school, from kindergarten on up, knows her name.)
I'm praying that this move is the answer you guys are looking for.

I think I'd go with "none" before I went with the technical difference between a "sovereign state" and one of the United "States" of America.
Still, I know the teachers aren't stupid, so I'm not sure what the failure in communication is, here. I'm really anxious to talk to the teachers and find out what the heck they're thinking.
Paris Crenshaw(Paizo Charter Superscriber, Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber)
Okay...I find myself puzzled by the girls' test for tomorrow.
They are supposed to know what states border California to the north, east...and south.
North and east are fairly easy...but what the heck are they talking about with a state that borders California to the south?!
I mean, Arizona is "kind of" south...but it's really southeast...of California. Natasha's teacher actually crossed out Arizona as the answer on her homework.
I sincerely hope they aren't expecting us to count Tijuana as an option. :S

This way, people wanting substantive discussions don't have to wade through long threads about poodles, hillbillies, and the word "mine". Just like with the word games, sectioning off the silliness would fit right in with the way the boards are laid out, and the end result would be the same as Heathy's proposal.
Great idea! That's where the chocolate bars can go, and the peanut butter can stay in OTD.
Great idea until the trolls decide they don't like people having fun in the "Sillieness section", then invade and ruin it the way they have with the Off Topic Section.

I'm sorry to hear that your boy is going through his own challenges.
We'll do our research and see how things go. I know we've tended to be somewhat neurotic and maybe a little controlling as parents, so I don't want to exacerbate the situation, but the girls do have very mild cases of cerebral palsy and some other issues. We've been attributing most of our problems to their extreme prematurity.
This may still be related to that, but it's manifesting more in an emotional/psychological way, so we're looking at what else we need to do. We were referred to some biofeedback specialists and discovered that her anxiety levels are off the charts high.
That clued us in that there was more going on, but the "holistic approach" isn't getting us anywhere, so we are now looking at the more clinical aspects of this. I just hope she won't need any kind of medication.
