Still here, but a map would really help, I think.

Oswaldo follows close behind.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Oswaldo follows Borden as quietly as possible, his crossbow at the ready.

Aid another on Disable: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"Well, this should prove helpful!"

Oswaldo examines the map curiously.

"Oooh! An illusionary wall. There MUST be something interesting behind that!" Oswaldo strokes his beard thoughtfully.

"Does anyone see any footprints? Surely the kidnappers must have left some trace. Then we can guess which door to tackle first."

untrained Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

South it is!

"Well, it looks like there aren't any more conveniently open doors. So do we dare try to open one?

That order is fine by me.

he won't use it if the bad guys are down, thanks

Oswaldo touches Ky'ssta and says, "Good luck, my scaly friend!"

bit of luck domain ability, for one round Ky'ssta can roll every d20 roll twice and take the best result.

Oswaldo's healing burst seems to negate any of the problems associated with the two arrows sticking out of #2 as well as healing his companions.

I guess I thought it went without saying, but if there's any possibility of moving to avoid the enemies when healing, Oswaldo will do so.

I guess it's true what they say: when you "presume", it makes a "pres" out of "u" and "me"!

Oswaldo yelps, "St. Brandobaris preserve us!" and holds up his hand, channeling healing energy on the folks who were ambushed.

channel energy, 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10 healing

I assume Oswaldo talking to the door doesn't do anything, correct?

"The letters J and A, hm." Oswaldo scratches his beard speculatively. "Well, the J could stand for Jzadirune, but I don't know about the A."

He walks up to the Jzadirune door, clears his throat, and addresses it. "Jzadirune door! Let us in, in the name of St. Brandobaris!"

Does anyone have the necessary skills to look for child-sized footprints?

Oswaldo piously raises his eyes to heaven yet again. "O, Saint Brandobaris the Meek, bless this crossbow bolt with your heavenly light!"

And, sure enough, the bolt in his crossbow begins to glow.

"Good day to you all, gentlemen. Alas! The men of Calimshan are often blinded by their ceaseless rules and regulations; would that they would answer to a higher power instead." Oswaldo glances towards the heavens piously. "I have heard it said that the city of Cauldron has fewer stiff-necked petty tyrants, but as I say, I have just arrived here myself."

"As Master Chandos says, we are looking for the kidnapped orphans on behalf of this fellow. To be quite honest, I assumed he was a notable public benefactor. But alas, I am a poor pilgrim newly arrived from Calimshan, so I cannot say for sure. At any rate, let us join our wits together to solve the problem and we will be done in half the time, yes?"

Oswaldo is flabbergasted at the greeting. "Ghelve? Wife? Furniture? Wha...?"

Recovering his composure a little, he asks, "Look, if you know anything about the missing children everyone's talking about, you better spill your guts now. Before Master Chandos spills them for you, that is!"

Oswaldo tip-toes inside and listens for any strange noises.

"Master...Chandos, is it? Be prepared for anything. There are many strange and wonderful things in this world which might want to steal children. May St. Brandobaris the Meek protect them all!"

By the way, does Oswaldo have any distinguishing marks that could be used to ID him?

Yes -- he has a birthmark on his left hand in the shape of a footprint (Brandobaris's holy symbol).

Fine by me! Sounds like some good drama. :-)

Oswaldo heard rumours of rich mines and plantations around Cauldron, and he figured that the pickings would be easier among small-town rubes rather than the more sophisticated folks in Calimshan (where he's had a few close shaves with the law when he was playing his trade as a mediocre pickpocket).

Plus he just likes to travel and see different places.

Okay, here's my halfling cleric Oswaldo!
