Oso's Background
A native of the Wakarti tribe in the jungles of Hepmonaland, Oso was enslaved as a boy by the Scarlet Brotherhood. He then spent his formative years in the slave pens, working as a ship cleaner on the docks. By night, the adept shaman, One Eyed Negri, took him under his wing and taught him the basics of the spirits and their place among the gods. Oso even spent time helping with the wounded and sick that found their way to his master.
He tried to escape a couple of times and bears the scars of the Brotherhood to this day. However nothing could dim his will, in fact Oso took pleasure in laughing at the puny punishments handed out.
Eventually he succeeded. Oso hid aboard the merchantman, Breath of Wind, that was headed for Scant in Onnwal. However the yellow-sailed Slavers had different plans and their fleet took the ship; found the native boy and enslaved him again.
This time the handsome negro became a sword buddy of a young rich kid in Highport. He learnt many things, including the faith of Kelanen. The faith comforted him in the hard and dangerous times that followed. The Highport intrigues hurt his latest master and nearly ended Oso's life on several occasions.
But Oso laughed it off.
When the rich son became a spoilt man and Oso suffered one too many beatings, he escaped again. Before he fled, the warrior stole his masters elven armour and best sword and shield. Since then he has spent his years dedicated to fun and frolics, but always with one eye on the door in case the Slavers find him again.
