About Orphan Arielle

Old Backstory:
The orphan called "Arielle" is quite a mystery. Appearing one day in a crowded marketplace in New Stetsen, the young girl was noticed by Corinne the Chroniker and recognized as one whom shared a similar future with Corinne. Corinne was the first to call the sad crystalline-eyed young girl Arielle and as the small child never provided any other name, Corinne has continued to use the moniker.

Arielle is rarely seen without a ragged one eyed teddy bear which she takes everywhere. Mostly quiet and observant, the girl's eyes betray an unusual intelligence in one so young and she seems to display knowledge of things to which Corinne has never seen Arielle exposed. Arielle has not spoken much of her past with Corinne except in passing and almost never answers questions about the strange things she says. Most unfortunately, Corinne has never been able to get Arielle to speak of the Whistling Man with whom Arielle is most certainly acquainted and pursues the young girl relentlessly.

Corinne has definitely come to the conclusion that Arielle lived in the Darklands at some point since much of the girl's comments seem related to the dark and deep places of the earth, and the nightmares Arielle has had on occasion always seem to be about things that happened underground. A dark fate seems to have been assigned the pretty young child, and Corinne seems determined to prevent it. Now that the two have crossed paths with a pair of heroes, Ragnar the Younger (an Ulfen-blooded warrior) and Xulgag the Wanderer (a half-orc monk of the Irorian order), the future is anything but guaranteed.

One thing is certain however: The Orphan Arielle is destined for something of importance. The question is whether it is her future that drives the fate of those around her? Or is she herself merely but one pattern in the tapestry of another's mighty destiny?
