is it possible to bring additional material from the original draft as a web enhancement to the adventures, so we may be able to play them as they were intended (something like a director's cut of the adventures...this is the point were I am sitting back on my haunches and look square in to your eyes... please! - similarities to Shrek 2 are definitely intended...)?

PS: If not, this would be a great thing for a compilation of all thiose adventures in one volume... with additional info about Cauldron and so on...sigh! (This adventure path is way better than the original one for 3.0 in the 8 modules...)

My players immediately went investigating the house of the wizard Ashstaff when they encountered the two half-elves and are trying to take over the premises if it will be clear that the wizard will not return.

To work against it I have devised a rule by the town council. The reason for that is, that space in this town is at a premium, ownership of space is not allowed, everything is leased to the appriopriate people. If a house becomes vacant, then the rights fall back to the town council and a new lease will be given in an auction to the highest bidder. That way it becomes diffictult for the player to build their own base and the tax riot has much more reason to happen... an auction in itself can also serve as a great venue to introduce the higher ups of the town to the players (an auctioning duel with Lord Valhantru over a building...). It is providing a good reason that lord Vhalantru is not acting against Kazmojen, because he is freeing up room in an otherwise overcrowded city, that the Lord needs desperately for his own agendas...

Not an export commodity, it would all be used in the hot climate of Cauldron ;-) (Well, It's a jungle out there...)

...but a good idea nonetheless. Vinyards are only feasible on the mountainsides, but perhaps Redgorge and the Haunted Village (in the past) had some vinyards...

There is also the Broadsides! book from Living Imagination + Skull & Bones as a Mythic Vistas book from Green Ronin. I had prepared an outline for a pirate campaign as a choice for our next campaign (pirate, oriental L5R d20) or the Shackled City Adventure Path, guess what they've chosen...

The Adventures for the pirate campaign...

1) Polyhedron - Freeport Adventure
2) Freeport Trilogy
3) somewhere in between (Nbod's room from Dungeon 51)
4) interspersed with some encounters from Tales in Freeport
5) se big one - Black Sails in Freeport...

if Hellin Freeport suits in there... i do not know...

Cauldron lies in the middle of nowhere and in order to reason why a city of 4500 people would have a reason to be where it is, I introduced mining "Red" malachite (a unique form of malachite only available here) and diamonds into the fray. (This was confirmed in the actual AP in a later part, wehre it is stated, that many of the Nobles' families own mining businesses.)

So basically everything to eat and tools and wood for securing mining shaftes would have to be imported into the city, and the malachite and diamonds would have to be moved to the coast to be shipped wherever it can be sold... the wood enterprise would be centered at the "Lucky Monkey" and be manned by the caravan guards, while they would wait for the caravan to be escorted to the coast. (Basically the last part of the journey from the Licky Monkey to Cauldron would be nearly unptorected, but tools and food aren't things worth guarding anyway.)

Lord Vhalantru organizes raids on these caravans to the coast. With this he has a reason for enlarging the guards and for raising the taxes and the loot also furthers his financing the BIG project... (well two BIG projects - the first being his support for the Cagewrights - the second his own transformation...).

Another side effect is, that the wood cutting enterprise explains the size of the Lucky Monkey (it always was a tad big for a tavern just to stop by while travelling in the middle of nowhere...

I want to edit my last post to cut and paste the development of the city watch into its own thread... but I am denied... OK... copy and paste then...

I have been wondering, what the heroes can do to stop an invasion of Redgorge, while they are away to the plane of Occipitus...

"Sending" is the solution. Jenya Urekas has given the group a Scroll of Sending to inform her of the fate of Alek Tercival, when they find him. That way they can inform her that her childhood friend has died and that it is on her to stop the eager Captain Skellerang of the City Watch...

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

My 2 cents...

The identity of the top figures of the Last Laugh is unknown...

The other thing has to do with explaining the development in the city watch.

Very cool. Is it for example legal to post reading texts or riddles translated to German...
Perhaps we can also collect the aura information for the areas and rooms there... (or in a web enhancement... nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

I found the inclusion of auras in the the room decriptions very helpful. So I second Dagda's proposal for a place on these boards, where we can put our own documents to each of the adventures running in Dungeon fleshing them out further, so the wheel does not have to be invented by each DM running the adventure.

An Example: For the first adventure in the Adventure path I made by hands cards with the rumours + cards with the gnomish runes, I even made a little map of the orphanage and the house of Ashstaff (since my players got this information from Fario and Fellion and decided to check up on it). (all odf these are hand drawn, but could be put online with a little work). These additional things make the surroundings much more alive. I even handcopied the maps from Ghelve's Locks to fool my players, so that did not notice directly that this was the place where the plot continues and it took them by surprise when the skulk attacked them and I put down a predrawn battlemap and the printed map from the magazine later... That way with a little community effort we could nearly completely flesh out Cauldron... (was very curious about the detailed map for the Tax Riot...)

Basically a structure would be needed for each Issue containing a part for each adventure (except for the Adventure Path that runs in its own structure)...the documents and maps would be sent to a person in charge of the area and he/she would maintain this area.

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

NPC pictures as handouts. My players dearly love the picture of the NPC's of Cauldron. Player's maps... since I copy most stat blocks on initiative cards (TGM, you gotta love them for it) those would not be needed... Poster maps...

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

hehe, I just bought it (Huge Red Dragon) yesterday from Brazil... it will be here early enough...

Taldor (Paizo Charter Superscriber)

Is it just me, or has someone else noticed, that the "Scaling the Adventure" bar for the Adventure Path entry in issue 114, was not the correct one, but copied from the lowlevel Greyhawk adventure...

btw. I love your magazine...and issue 114 was awesome in content, but please return to two text columns per page...
