I check these threads very often during work and at least twice every day at home (after getting up and before going to sleep). I am also frequent visitor in the Chatroom at dmtools.org. Szaranoth normally has switched to his Senses aura (+1 to Listen, Spot, Initiative), the other auras will be used in or after combat. I will begin to put his active aura into all of Szaranoth's posts at the top (+boni, results from that aura), when we have formed as a group (a process I deem yet uncompleted, but well in the making). At the moment Szaranoth does not count the others directly as allies (except maybe Targ), merely as friends in spe, but that may or most likely will change "this evening". I went with Jason, Joe and Rob (Bleak midwinter, lightning and oozes) this round as I was pretty sure that Christine, Clinton and Russ would advance to the next round, regardless of my vote (loved the entries though, but this time I tried to vote for my no.4,5,and6, because I want to see them also in the next round). Mayberry? No clue... movie? tv series? If have read tone of X-Men, new Mutants, X-force comics, so basically I will shift it more to a Rogue tongue, or a shorthand pronounciation. I thought my English was okay... and then I went to see "From Dusk Til Dawn" and at the beginning the highway patrolman came into the shop... and I went "Huh? What did he just say?", until a good friend of mine and native English speaker reassured me... "Didn't understand a thing either..." I wanted to emphasize that his speeking patterns do not reflect his upbringing.
Impatience is a hellish mistress. I have now picked up "Invader", the second book of the Atevi-Sequence by C.J.Cherryh. I knew in advance I'd love her new alien race, and she did not disappoint. "Foreigner" is a rollercoaster ride with enough quiet moments to enable us to get into the mindsets of the aliens, or rather comprehending, that we will never really get into the mind set of these Atevians... Highly recommended. Try to bring Maavu, Alek Tercival, Tyro Amberhelm, Skylar Krewis and the group from the Lucky Monkey as early into the campaign as you can. To help in the preparation of encounters I have prepared item lists and encounter overviews for the first four chapters. bring the town council into play, make Severen Navalant a self-indulging dull noble who likes to hear his own voice. Make Lord Vhalantru the go-to-guy for anything concerning the council, he will certainly help. Lookup the articles about the Last Laugh on this board. How are they faring against the Alleybashers? Other changes i made: Alek and Jenya are good friends (just friends, childhood friends), Skylar was fiancee to Triel Eldurast, Rufus Laro is a fanatic about justice and law, Jenya is very open and tries to further justice in the world (this will get interesting, when Keygan Ghelve will be apprehended, make a big courtroom drama out of it, with Jenya, Vhalantru, Rufus, Alek and Terseon Skellerang, with the group as witnesses...their testimony should determine the fate of him). Don't make the first dungeon just a big fight fest... the leader of the dark ones should communicate with the group, but he will betray your PC's when it fits into his plan, perhaps he sends them to the factory to retrieve the fallen child. Read the Article in Dragon about the Dark ones #322 or so... If you are journeying to Cauldron from Sasserine or elsewhere, let the group meet Sarcem Delasharn on his way to get the wands, he will be accompanied by Alek Tercival on his first leg. Alek will then go off to find his "long lost brother"...Have night's stop at the Lucky Monkey... if you want action on thejourney... insert "Thieves in theForest"(Atlas Games d20 adventure), it fitslike a glove. Have fun. Cauldron is a memorable place. Here is a linky for Chaositech. Something like grafts powered by chaotic energy. Chaos magic and so on.
I ran "Final Resting Place" a few weeks ago as a side quest in my Freeport campaign. It is a really great adventure (but lacking some info about a diplomatic approach of the group, presumably cut because of space considerations). I was lucky that the rogue hung back and was approached by the real villain of the adventure to capture his "precious". The repercussions of this adventure can lead to a surface attack by an underground empire (the ruined city of Highport just got a bit more ruined in my campaign in an attempt of the Underdark empire to recapture the treasure) and a later all-out war bewteen the surface world and the underground empire... and it all started in this little adventure. This book is a translation of the German original (it has been available for 2-3 years). And it is rock solid. The German crew have taken the Cthulhu game to the next level... ... and I know what kind of books you can further expect. If they are gonna translate some of the new ones from German, you are in for a treat (or a trick or two). (Dementophobia, Arcana Cthulhiana... just to name 2 further gems available in Germany) I do not own these books, nor have I read through them, but a friend of mine has them, and loves them madly (his favorite is the German version of Cthulhu Now). Well, I thought that access to the miniatures would be included in the monthly fee for the DI... Having to pay extra is another argument for me against testing these waters. IN addition, you are only able to use them as long as you are subscriber to the DDI. Basically you don't even "own" those minis. I'll buy the preview adventure and at least the Player's Handbook. Afterwards I am going to judge what efforts would be needed to convert adventures and campaigns to 4e. That and the playability of the new rules will be the base for further purchase decisions. If Paizo converts, I will follow (perhaps a bit later, but I will)
