Prolly won't be too much; I'm planning on doing 3-D sets of dragons sometime anyway. But I'd whip up one fully-assembled for you. I'd even sign the base. Maybe I'll even go all-out and make a slightly-different colored version; lemme know if you've got a favorite off-silver tone, and we'll see what happens. :D Buyin' mine right now. Eager to do a combo PaizoCon III/house-hunting trip. :D I'm thinking on reserving a room solo this year, unless the lady-friend wishes to attend, and as a inveterate smoker, I will be getting a smoking room. So as long as those facts hold up (99% certainty), I plan on offering my room as the Zuxius(TM) All-Night, Every Night Party Pad's Smoking Pariah Annex Lounge and Cancer Ward. Entry is free; BYOB unless I do a spontaneous tasting event or something. Plans to gel as the event approaches. I read the first two trilogies some time ago (decade plus, at least), and remember coming back to a bookstore a few years later to see entire shelves of Drizz't books. Kinda just gave up right then and there. I mean, how much crap can one dark elf get into without finally fixing the Silver Marches once and for all? The books- and Drizz't- were entertaining enough at the time. Like others have said, they're not brilliant prose, nor are they meant to be. They're a bit more filling than an action movie, but nothing I'd take a hi-lighter to and write commentary on the margins over (you know; "Icingdeath = Redemption of Evil?" kinda crap). Salvatore keeps money flowing into the hobby, albiet indirectly, and I'm sure more than a few folk fell into the hobby due to wondering what these realms everyone had forgotten about were and if one could tool around in it with a few friends and some dice. The Drizz't clones I'm familiar with as something that exists, but my gaming group was pretty insular, so of all the archetypal rip-offs out there, "dual-wielding drow ranger" never made it into the mix. However, I'm sure I'd roll my eyes if I ended up GMing for one. Oh, and I'd recently heard Salvatore on the Open Design podcast. His "Wubba-Wubba" story was priceless. :D Rest of the group is finished. Here goes: Jonathan Whiteling: Benchak's DMPC. Middle-aged (he's in his 80's) half-elf druid, yet still tough as nails. Tools around with a wolf companion, whose name eludes me at the moment. No write-up available, but you can probably get a feel for him once I get my campaign journal started up here. Current character art here. Slappy Wet-Trousers: Our friend Dustin's PC. Male human fighter. He's also, at 5'2", the shortest guy in our game. Also no write-up available, but like Jonathan, you can probably figure him out once the campaign journals start. Current character art here. Dear reader, The following is the collected volumes of information regarding certain events in Westcrown, Cheliax, from late 4709 AR through 4710 AR and beyond. In an effort to better understand these strange happenings, we have collected the following notes, journals, dottari reports, and assorted apocrypha, along with illustrations and maps when available. Information is presented in the order it was received. Dates and times will be provided whenever possible; this may not be the case in all entries. Be advised that all relevant resources have been culled for this volume, no matter the source. These parcels of information, even when from usually reputable sources, may be highly dubious; it is up to the discerning eye of the astute reader to sift fact from fiction. I'd love to see the photos. I'm always excited to see what people are doing with them. And I'll inquire with folks about shadow silhouette backsides. Might be the next big thing. :D Aww... honestly, I LIKED wand rifles. Honestly, if I wasn't gonna get guns (which, at the time I was doing that adventure, seemed unlikely), at least having a rifle-like item for my sorcerer felt appropriate. Kept me from screaming "MOAR GUNZ" at you guys, at least. :D Now, "goop" does sound funny, but I haven't heard a person who ran in that adventure at PaizoCon complain. Not about the "goop" name, at least. Not that it ain't goofy. But D&D's full of goofy, and some of it has stuck around for the long-term. Obvious examples exist, and I'm hardly a D&D historian, so I won't go into those. Instead, I'm gonna get all anecdotal here. And yes, I understand that some things in a home game wouldn't translate well outside that game, but hear me out. Rigby would thank you. While running Savage Tide, my former roommate and co-conspirator, Ben, wanted a cohort for his PC. We'd been watching a lot of "Kolchak: The Nightstalker" at the time, and since Savage Tide had some serious ties to Olman culture, he decided to name his cohort Machu Manedo (after the episode "The Energy Eater," if I recall). I rolled my eyes. Seriously. I really did. Like, a lot. At first. After Manedo's debut as a porter for Ben's PC, and after a critical roll with a crossbow left a dockside thug dead in the water just before killing one of the PCs, I took notice. Soon, Manedo (as we eventually called him) was a beloved teammate and one of our prominent front-liners, and any reference to his original, goofy origins was all but forgotten. I'm not saying all the goofy ideas are golden. But I'd let the fans let you know if an idea's too goofy for Golarion before giving it the RetCon burial. After all, people still remember tribbles, no matter how goofy they may be. And Boomer and I are still hoping to write up a Numeria mega-adventure as soon as you guys are willing to take it. Just sayin'. :D Only got two characters statted out so far; dunno what else we'll have going on in the group. But here they are: Cheng Wen: My PC for this game. CN Male human (Tian) bard 1. Amazing actor, great singer and dancer, can't fight his way out of a paper bag. But he dresses nice! And he can inspire others to fight all good and stuff! And next level, he'll be an amazing liar and disguise artist! Character info can be found here; character art is here. Aloysia Zarella: The lady-friend's PC. N Female human (Chelaxian) rogue 1. Last scion of the Zarella family, a (now-defunct) minor noble house. The rest of her family died under mysterious circumstances that might have been "accidents" and "rare illnesses," but Aloysia knows better, and she's looking for revenge. No character write-up available yet, though I'll see if she wants to put one online for folks to gawk at. In the meanwhile, you can gawk at her character art here. Just throwing my two cents in. Grain of salt warning: I'm not a writer, I'm just a doodler-guy, so if my writing or (in)ability to express my point is clearly inferior, well, I'm just a doodler-guy. :P Revan wrote:
I kinda read it like that myself, but I think it's a good starting point for either a reluctant member of the group or a "...however, you know that the devilish influence of your homeland encourages those willing to do what it takes to get ahead..." or maybe, "...or so you used to believe. But some of the current events you've seen or heard about in Westcrown today make you think the time might be right to reconsider your complacent views..." By way of for instance, my girlfriend's PC has the Diabolist Raised and Lost Nobility (Cheliax: Empire of Devils, pg. 19) traits, basically taking the concept that she was born in the twilight of her family's political power, learning how to play the social games of Westcrown's elite, until some unusual "accidents" and "illnesses" left her the sole heir to her family's title (and a handful of gold to her name). She knows the political game, she can put on the social mask when the circumstances require, but she'd as soon as see most nobles' heads on pikes as talk to them. It's just the former can be hard to pull off as a 1st-level rogue running solo through the streets. I guess one way to look at it as an "early years" kinda thing. You might have been fine with the political system before, and unwilling to rock the boat, but something might have changed to alter your opinions (possibly your second trait, representing your "later years" or some other caveat to the text of the first trait). Or you could just be ambitious, and see some "revolutionary group" as a way to climb the political ladder. I know, it's "not canon," but it's also a character trait. They're made to be altered to fit as needed: Council of Thieves Player's Guide wrote: You have a certain amount of leeway in adjusting or changing a campaign trait’s expected backstory once you’ve selected which trait is right for you, but get your GM’s approval before you run with a modified backstory. Just sayin'. If you (or your PCs) might take it as chaining a PC to the current order and thus unwilling to join the group, well, I'd cut it. You got five more to choose from. But I'd rather just alter the trait's flavor text. DM_aka_Dudemeister wrote: Could anyone stop you? Jane Fonda might. She keeps suing me whenever I dress up like her in public. 'Course I also have a tendency to issue "press releases" that contain some rather upsetting material. :P Oh, and I can't drive, so that might be a problem. If it was a forklift, maybe we'd be cool, but driving a real car is not a skill I ever picked up. I've been excited about this play since before I knew this play existed. I, for one, am planning on hamming up this thing hardcore, and as the most-likely person to play Larazod (my character's Perform (act) is kinda disturbingly high), I'll be getting a lot of time to shout out all sorts of fun things. If we can scrounge up a digital camera with a video recording option that doesn't suck, I'll get someone to upload it and show it off. I will forewarn you: I've got no formal (or informal) actorly training, but I am a pompous windbag with a very high opinion of myself, so that's, like, the same thing, right? And I demand much links to Logue's students performing the play when/if such a production occurs. If no video evidence of this event comes to pass, the world indeed will explode. Like, ten times. I saw it once. It weren't pretty.

I hate purchasing minis since they are expensive and sometimes it is hard to find the right one. I don't know did anyone ask before, is there a plan to turn this into a product similar to item cards? I hate to cut and construct dozens of these just for a single adventure alone. If they are pre-cut and snap into place, it will be more convenient for the DM to put together. You can market them as single or in decks. I will buy hundreds of them. Sorry for the WAY delayed reply. It's been... hectic. :P I've definitely thought about doing something like this, but as a licensee, production costs would be out of pocket, and I wouldn't even know where to start looking to find a way to make pre-cut minis, to say nothing of how to pay for initial production costs. Though I do get all giddy when I think of something akin to those Pirates punch cards from WizKids. That. Would. Be. AWESOME. :P I've also considered simply doing generic "monster and PC" sets exclusively, as opposed to doing the AP sets. Sales seem better on "generic" figures, and it lets me and my fellow artists have more free reign to whip up all sorts of crazy stuff. I might start a new thread on that; I'll let you folks know when/if I do. I can't set a firm date on it, but seeing as certain folk were finishing up work on the PDF when I made my invasion of the offices on Tuesday, I'd say it's just a matter of a day or two. But this is all unofficial speculation. A new problem coulda cropped up 'twixt now and then. Believe me when I say that, while I was there at least, the PDF was a big focus for the day- this is, after all, Paizo's biggest release, and they're trying to keep it running as smoothly as possible, I assure you. Sometimes, actually, I think the Paizo staff should do tours just to show what a beast of an operation running a publishing company can be. Sure made me feel like a jerk for pestering Vic Wertz over various stuff regarding the paper minis line. "Hey, Vic! Watcha doin'? Uh-huh. Well, drop all that stuff and upload this new minis pack that's, like, two months late. Oh, and I forgot to cut and paste the HTML code into the description again. Can you take ten minutes to fix that for me? K THX BAI!" :P I promise you, a team of editing intern ninjas are, like, totally being beaten with copies of the core rulebook by Jason Bulmahn as I type this, their blood spattering screen and keyboard with every mighty blow, as he promises the sweet release of death when they finish editing that PDF. And how they crave finally shuffling off this mortal coil into oblivion. Sharoth wrote:
Current plan is as follows: for each "Race" set (which includes all the playable races, including aasimar and tieflings, as well as each human ethnicity) there'll be a set of twelve minis: half male, half female. Each set will be designed with racially-appropriate equipment styles (light slashing weapons for Varisians, bows and swords for elves, scimitars and falchions for Qadirans, axes and crossbows for dwarves, etc.) and will be designed so that any particular mini could conceivably cover multiple classes. For example, a Varisian mini might be wearing a leather jacket (leather armor) and weilding a rapier and have a dagger tucked into its belt, so it could be a lightly-armored fighter, a rogue, or a ranger (two weapons, one not yet drawn), or possibly even a paladin or spellcaster (armor is not completely obvious as such). They'd also work fine as extra NPCs, so if a GM needs a group of dwarves or elves or whatever for an encounter, they've got an appropriate set. There's been talk of sometime doing a set or two of "outliers": unusual PCs or NPCs who don't fit the cultural norm (Qadirans with full plate, maybe a dwarven whipmaster, Kellid wizard with spellbook, etc.) for those weird characters PCs just love to throw at DMs, but we'll cover the basics that, say, 80% of PCs and GMs will need for a given character/NPC. I'll get in contact with the rest of the gang and see who wants to do what; I think Immora expressed interest in doing a Varisian set, and I was looking at dwarves, since people seem to think "dwarf" when I ask for set requests. Chelaxians will probably appear sometime during Council of Thieves, since that's fitting. But I'll try to alternate between humans and non-humans whenever possible. Lemme know if you've got suggestions, requests, or whatever, These bad boys are for all y'all, so we want to provide what people want. If everyone keeps making their Qadirans with greatswords and heavy armor, for example, we'll provide. Excellent suggestions, gang! And yes, there will be a Bestiary for this one, which will include the first semi-3-D minis for the PPM line. It should be an exciting set! I'm gonna start working on the current top favorites right now. Also: I've been trying to reproduce the covers as close as possible, so it looks like you guys will be getting a bonus genie mini with the "Jackal's Price" set as well. Hope that's not a problem. :P Sharoth wrote: N'wah, is it possible that we could get some "PC" Paper Minis for the PCs. Paper minis for PCs will be done; currently I'm trying to figure out if it's easier to make "Class" sets or "Race" sets. I'm leaning towards "Race" sets, because I can make generic enough dudes and dudettes of each race to work for pretty much anyone (a Varisian with a dagger could be a rogue, or a wizard or sorcerer, or a knife-weilding fighter, or...), but if demand is for specific classes, I could do that instead. Mostly just gotta clean off some space on the plate for me and the co-conspirators. Lemme get these sets worked out, and I'll jump into some more "extra" sets ASAP. Howdy, everyone! I'm currently working on the Pathfinder Paper Mini sets for "The Jackal's Price" and "End of Eternity", and I've veen wracking my brain trying to figure out exactly which minis to make for each set. Then I had a thought: why not ask you, the consumers of the sets, for input on which minis you'd like to see. So, um, I am. :P Alright, before I get too far into it, let me preface this by saying that lists of major villains, monsters, and NPCs in the adventures could be construed as a spoiler, so this is a SPOILER WARNING. Also, if you're not familiar with the Pathfinder Paper Minis line, feel free to check them out here. Call me biased, but I think they're pretty cool. :P So here's the deal: there's way more NPCs and monsters in each of these adventures than I could possibly make in a set, so I need some help picking out which ones people want minis for. So, other than obviously Father Jackal himself, which NPCs and monsters would you like to see? The goal number is about twelve or so, but it can be adjusted slightly depending on demand (I think "House of the Beast" had thirteen, for example). A quick note: I've been attempting to make "backup" sets for recurring-theme villains (the "Gnolls" set being a good example) to cover the basic mooks and such, so I could, for example, make a "Katapeshi Encounters" set with some of the folks from Part 2: Rayhan's Villa in "The Jackal's Price" (Marzuk, Badra, Kazim, Tamir, nine thugs, Radi Hamdi, and maybe Rayhan himself), which would free up more minis room for the One Source building and the desert encounters stuff. It also could be used for DMs looking to create some Katapeshi encounters (combined with the minis from Immora's "Katapeshi Caravan" and you've pretty much got a Katapesh street scene right there). Thoughts? Feelings? Tomatoes? Lemme know. Thanks in advance! golem101 wrote:
Don't worry, I'll do my darndest to get the sets for LoF out as close to the end of the AP as possible. On my end, I hope to get sets 21 and 22 cranked out over some time off this week, as well as getting the essentially-finished Bestiary set and Callous Jack's set for Darkmoon Vale printed up and uploaded. A regular schedule will make itself manifest at some point in the horizon. At the moment, though, I'm still juggling the minis art gig with my day job, and sadly, I need my day job (though I might be working something out to free up some time). The Paper Minis have had a strange, delayed start up, I will admit, and with the limited time available we're going as fast as possible, I assure you. Keep on hangin' on, and I think you'll start seeing a more reliable schedule appear soon enough.

Oh, that reminds me: I do have a permanent swollen lower lip from multiple acts of clumsiness as a child and a bike wreck when I was six, and about four or five random scars on my feet from various "why do I keep insisting on not wearing shoes outdoors?" moments. I've also got a couple of compressed discs in my spine thanks to mistaking a low table for a chair when I was five, and a messed-up neck from a car accident when I was four or five, but those are internal and thus not in the running for this contest. Didn't know being Scottish meant one was a klutz. That explains a lot on me and my mother's part, actually. I have, no foolin' stumbled across a street and into a stop sign, STONE-COLD SOBER. All of the stories I've told were while I was sober, actually. I'm a magnet for sober injury. Alright, I mentioned that I'm open for commissions on my dA, but I though I'd mention it here. I'm, um, open for commissions. A brief caveat: freebie commissions will be done as the time/mood strikes me. Paid commissions will be done ASAP. So if you've got your heart set on something getting done quarter after yesterday, don't get strange with the change. :P I'm going to be very busy with catch-up on the paper minis over the next few weeks, as well as my minis for Rite Publishing, and some projects with Hugo and Clinton Boomer. Oh, and possible future Wayfinder stuff. But I still like to draw stuff, so hopefully I can squeeze in side projects. So, lemme know if you've got a burning desire to see a cartoony version of your beloved Pathfinder PC, or your favorite non-winged PC or NPC illustrated fanservice-style (NO WINGS PLEASE; I am burnt out on wings), or got a goofy favorite gaming story in need of a simple one- to four-panel illustration, lemme know! I've only got a few that aren't small (every job I work at seems to be full of small, sharp things that cover my hands in tiny scars, and, like, Mr. Shiny, I'm a total klutz), and they're all pretty funny. I'll go in chronological order: Right calf, near the knee on the inside...um, side; about 2 1/2 inches in length. When I was nine or so, my bed apparently had a busted spring that was just waiting for the right application of pressure to come jutting out. I did just that one morning crawling out of bed. I didn't notice until I found all the blood a few seconds later. It didn't hurt at all, but was spouting blood all over, so I went into the bathroom, cleaned it up, slapped a big Band-Aid on it, and forgot about it for a while. Chin; half-inch-long scar. I was closing up at work, and we had a fold-up wicker table to take down. The table, in the process of folding up, came flying into my chin. That spot, to this day, still refuses to grow hair, thus making every attempt at beard growth look like I'm trying out some split-beard thing. Head of penis. I'm serious. When smoking in the back seat of a car, be careful as to where the cherry of your cigarette goes if it should fly off, lest it land in your lap, burn through your pants and boxers, and give you a mighty-fine "HELLO!" several seconds later as it scalds an area covered in nerve endings. Left arm, just below the wrist; curved scar 1 inch in diameter. Christmas day, last year, my dogs re-found an old rawhide bone. One of them was being a bone-hog, and the other was getting antsy. So I took the bone from one dog and handed it to the antsy one, who just dropped it in the snow. When the other dog reclaimed it, they got into a brutal fight, which I had to break up. It wasn't until I took the dogs inside to treat one of them for shock (she's a total pansy in a dog-fight) that I noticed the series of puncture marks on my arm; apparently, the antsy dog accidentally bit me in the scuffle. Left arm, three inches below elbow; strange perma-bruise discoloration spot; right shin, three-inch long perma-bruise/scar. Those of you who I have as friends on Facebook might remember this one as "the Woundening." The scene: ten p.m., after work. I was getting a ride home from a co-worker, when I realized I'd left my smokes at the gazebo outside of work. So I charge across the street to go get them, not seeing the restraining lines counter-balancing the power line pole next to the street. I jump the curb, as I am wont to do, and become aware of two dull gray-colored cables that I am approaching at a decent speed while midair. These cables were kind enough to catch me in exchange for some of my flesh and blood, and some nasty bone-deep bruises. Oh, and in the incident, I dropped my bag with a nice bottle of wine and my OTHER pack of smokes, thus ruining both. On the plus side, the time off of work allowed me to finish up the initial sets of paper minis we now enjoy today, so that's good. I also got my birthday off of work. So, y'know, half-bad, half-good. Those are the ones I remember. There may be more. Commission for The Eldritch Mr. Shiny: Daniel Lovoth. I'm not completely sold on the colors, but the wings came out so nice that I'm hesitant to re-do them. You're the commissioner, though, dude, so if you want me to redo 'em, lemme know. Also, not commissioned per se, but I did some other non-fanservice art for my Blissford campaign. Meet Misra Ebonshear, leader of Golarion's most deadly mercenary group. I hope my PCs decide to work for her, because I really don't want to kill them all for disobeying her. :P Another commission for Mr. Shiny will be coming along soon. There's also some fanservice of Nocticula and Red Shroud, but even I'm getting tired of pimping naked succubi. One should be able to find them easily enough if one is so inclined. tbug wrote: Your characters have a LOT of personality. Will you be doing any more for AP4? Don't want to put words into Immora's mough, but she's got at least one more set done, and she doesn't seem to have expressed interest in dropping out yet. So hopefully, yeah, she'll be on for the long haul. Her minis have been wonderful, and the fans certainly seem to love them. I'm hoping Immora will take on making the minis for the Council of Thieves AP adventures, and I will try my hand at the Bestiary articles for that one (I've promised to let my roommate run that one, so I don't want to spoil it for myself, and I like what Immora did for Curse of the Crimson Throne, so Council of Thieves sounds right up her alley in that regard).
